Those wedding bands are swank, man.

I just noticed those.

The 5th Circuit has ruled:

Appeals Court Takes Formal Step To End Texas, Louisiana Same-Sex Marriage Bans

SCOTUS ruling "is the law of the land and consequently the law of this circuit."

It's my understanding that Mississippi's order has come down just minutes ago. Now the officials in these three states have no excuse for any further delays.

That final Louisiana judgement... Sooo good.

After waiting for 18+ years, it's done - I'm a married man!

We found-out this afternoon that our hometown courthouse was doing weddings & licenses, so we jumped on it ASAP (closing time today was 315pm, so this was really a rush). Tomorrow is a statewide holiday in obervance of July 4th, so there wasn't much time to get gussied-up. (well.. that, and we're not too stressful about getting dressed-up)

The happy couple, waiting for the judge to arrive for a quickie ceremony:

The wedding bands:

After we were done, we hurried home. We didn't want to leave our wedding present alone for too long, as he's only 8 weeks old and quite a handful:

The judge stayed a bit late to do the ceremony. She was tickled!

We've decided a long, loooong time ago against a big ceremony. But at some point in the near future, there's gonna be a house party. Oh yeaaah!

Congratulations and have a wonderful 4th.

!

Congratulations Hylian, that's amazing.

Boy man, I can't even imagine how hopeless this all must have felt only like six or seven years ago, especially being from Louisiana. This must feel like an overnight sea change in its speed by comparison to how things have been. Must be an amazing feeling man.

Thanks, everyone!

- We already have house plans drafted. Greg's cousin is a master electrician; we'll be doing the PV system install ourselves, with a bit of his help!
- The Zelda rings are incredibly nerdy, but that's no surprise. I have a Triforce on my motorcycle helmet, Majora on my bike's gas tank, Zelda decor throughout our home, tons of Zelda shirts.. the rings made sense to us.
- Ever since I realized at a young age how, err.. special Louisiana's political climate is, I suspected we'd never have marriage equality unless SCOTUS forced it. I made this claim to my right-wing relatives in the 90s, along with an Equal Protection argument pretty similar to the one used in this case (they thought I was craaaazy).
- oh, and the akita puppy is named Koji. Of course. =D

(thanks again! What a magical week!)

Btw Tom, why are your rings on your right hands?

America leading the way. Hopefully this ruling slowly reverberates to other parts of the world.
We didn't lead anything. Plenty of countries already have same-sex marriage. Now, we are the largest to legalize it by far, so hopefully that will help push things along.

If 17 out of over 200 is plenty I guess.

Congratulation. Parabéns!
