I saw no one talking about there being a vote on this within the past few days, which normally would have been huge news. The first I'm hearing of it is today, when it was declared a right. Why was no one talking about this before hand?

Multiple people have recounted that sentiment to me. When schools were integrated, the white teachers that taught black students often didn't care about them as much. Moreover, we have studies NOW that indicate that black students educated at HBCUs go further than their black counterparts at PWIs.

But I'm not surprised you would express such a sentiment. Many progressives (which I am, also) fall victim to such dogma. I try not to. Not everything (in fact very little) is black and white.

Not a vote, decision by the United States Supreme Court. We never know in advance what day they'll release their decisions.

A marriage where it lists me as a man is worth less than shit.

Well, so far, the common change has been to just have "Spouse 1" and "Spouse 2" without noting gender.

Don't know if that will be uniform, though.
