some had more time to think about how to apply the rainbow than others
Uber one is pretty cool.

Test? There is no test. They have already spoken and their support of the Constitution is complete bullshit and they only use it when it supports their interests.

I agree and it's obvious to many of us. It's the kind of thing that needs to be dragged out on a national stage. SCOTUS has ruined Murica and God's wrath is upon us might get them a nomination but let's see him air that shit in a National election.

Where can I get on this slope where we become Canada?
Seriously, I fucking wish we could be Canada.
As Jon Stewart pointed out, it seems he doesn't know how the slippery slope argument works. It is supposed to end with something bad.
Yup.

I find it really interesting that the two Indian Americans that are currently governors (Jindal and Haley in SC) are pretty far right wing. I was under the impression that the Indian American community was mostly left wing (at least based on my friends and people I have met etc.).

Jindal and Haley were both part of a targeted Republican initiative to groom and recruit minorities into the Young Republicans and prep them for public office as a way to artificially inflate the diversity of the party.

I'm not joking.

Then he said a child can consent and now people are asking him if he wants to confess something. I have been asking him why he plays football on Sunday if he wants to follow the Bible and he has been avoiding the question.

Keep up the good work /salute

my facebook feed has been shockingly tame

I think that even those that oppose gay marriage don't really oppose it that much.

There just aren't that many true diehards. Gay marriage is not the end of the world.

They just kinda know they don't like it because these people keep telling them it's bad, but really, who is anyone to hate on love?

My Facebook was in total meltdown about the Confederate flag and when the Duck Dynasty father got in trouble, but not a peep today.

A child is not an adult though. That's the beauty of the string of words called "consenting adults". Not only you have to be an adult, you also have to give consent. But yeah, a dumbass will stay a dumbass (or he has something to admit like you said). And obviously he's also a hypocrite judging from his activities on sunday.

States rights is a central precept in modern American Libertarianism.

Every major libertarian in American politics supports it almost unequivocally.
Since when?

It's not even mentioned in the party platform because that would be nonsensical and antithetical to libertarianism. No level of state is justified in violating the rights of citizens. There's no distinction in the NAP for different levels of government.

I'm still reading this thread, but I just wanted to say how happy this makes me.

Today is a historic day and our grand children will ask us about it decades from now. They will ask about a time in our nation where people were discriminated because of who they love, and how common sense, compasion and love won over discrimination, fear and hate in the end.

Everyone in America should celebrate. Today is huge and I'm glad I was born in the generation that was able to witness it.

Any word from him? I doubt he's going through with it but I imagine his tears will be one of the saltiest.
His tears have extinguished the flames! By the Grace of God Almighty, he is saved! God's given his life new purpose - to continue living to fight gayness in the name of the LORD!!!

Texas Governor Greg Abbott on today's decision

Sigh

On one hand, this is very vague. I cannot tell if he is explicitly saying he will do whatever he can to block gay marriages or if he is pandering to Christian votes by conflating the issue of gay marriage with attack on Christianity. ie. he won't stop gay marriages but will ensure Christian's are protected in their right to their beliefs.

What do you think?

The whole "tears" thing is misguided. Today we should be happy not spiteful. It's bad sportsmanship to gloat.
If it were a fair fight with harmless consequences? I'd agree.

But this time the losers of this battle are disgusting bigots, so I'll happily drink their tears. :D I admit I'm kind of immature, though.

Because of course, Louisiana will wait until the official mandate comes down reversing the 6th Circuit.

Yup. Our birth certificates, rings, social security cards, etc, are waiting in a pile by the front door. Might be waiting for a while.

But at least I can enjoy some salt intake.

Any word from (the pastor who threatened to set himself on fire)? I doubt he's going through with it but I imagine his tears will be one of the saltiest.

This appears to be his twitter, no posts in months, though:

Also from the world of twitter, the WAT? of the day tweet:

14th amt is exclusively about freed slaves. With the gay marriage ruling, liberals have screwed blacks once again.

Whoops! I knew we didn't think this through all the way! Sorry blacks. :(
