NA PSN Sale - Fantasy Flash Sale (Goes Live 6/26 or 6/27 - Ends 6/29)

how is sword art online? 14$ good price?

I own it, it is either worth original retail or very little imo. If you like the anime and would enjoy a rather complex and sizable simulation of a MMO, it might be a great game for you. If you don't like the anime and/or are not looking for a single player simulation of a MMO, it is not worth much.

Having played real MMOs, it is shockingly similar in many ways. I don't have much of a desire to experience an MMO sans real players, nor have the time to maser the combat system and item harvesting necessary to complete the required raid content.

Bought Graces F, but lol @ "Knight Edition" being nothing more than cheat code DLC that gives you extra money and EXP. Couldn't even put in any of the cosmetic DLC in there?

Just got Hand Of Fate and the three PC Engine TurboGrafx 16 games. Nice haul for just under $12.

More TG16 sales like this, please, US PSN.

Piggy backing on this, I heard the localization is terrible, and that a better one is coming for the PS4 version. Any word of that localization getting patched in to this version? If so I’ll just buy it cheap now and wait for the patch to play it later.

According to people earlier in this thread the PS4 wont be getting an updated translation.

The best costumes are already there tho:

But congrats, Graces F is my favorite Tales of games, the gameplay is just amazing in Hard (Beyond that it got too intense for me T_T)

Perfect timing on this sale.

Anyone have opinions on the following games? Also be great to have an idea of time commitments for them, especially the RPGs?

Hyperdimension Neptunia ReBirth1
Tales of Hearts R
Mind Zero
CastleStorm Def Ed
Game of Thrones

I was really anticipating Tales of Hearts R, in this sale, but I'm just not sure I can go through with buying. I just bought several new games, after getting a little birthday cash, and I'm barely playing those. I've been reading more and playing Hyrule Warriors. I like the Tales games but I haven't even touched the Symphonia collection and I haven't finished Xilia 1. My damn heart is still tempted! I guess that's a pun.

Hyperdimension Neptunia ReBirth1 One of the Worst RPG on the Vita. Not even worth for $6. Doesn't have a single redeeming thing about it, unless you enjoy fan service.
Tales of Hearts R Good game, it doesn't have any English dub. But it's still worth the $14. One of the better games on the Vita.
Mind Zero
CastleStorm Def Ed
Game of Thrones

I haven't played the rest.

Hyperdimension Neptunia ReBirth1
Tales of Hearts R
Mind Zero

Neptunia Rebirth 1 is great. The battle system is simple, but not boring. Bosses can keep you on your guard and you will need to strategize a little.
Story is dumb and comical. Very lighhearted.
Rebirth has a ton of content from multiple endings, secret bosses, coliseum and so on.

Tales of Hearts R has also a great battle system where if focuses on juggling your enemies in the air. They can break out of combos, but you can counter this break and keep going.
Story isn't strong until the second half and dungeons are not particularly interesting.

Mind Zero is persona with first-person dungeon crawling. Personally, I think this is very weak, but since it's cheap, I would only recommend if you really like dungeon crawlers. The story, while it has some interesting concepts, never develops. Battle system is a turn bassed afair and, if I remember well, you need to plan for a few boss battles.

EDIT:

Is Tales of Hearts a long game? I'm guessing yes but I figured I'd still ask.

Around 30-40hrs for main quest. Can be completed much faster than this.

there are people that love hyperdimension... haven't played it yet, but i seriously find it hard to believe it's 'the worst jrpg on vita' given it has a vocal fan group and conception 2 exists.

mind zero is a bland, but servicable drpg. it got compared to persona... it never should have, it's not trying to be persona. nice combat system. bland everything else (dungeon textures, lewt, enemy reskins, etc). i enjoyed it. about the only thing it shares with persona is the art style, sort of, and that there are events with various party members (lots of games do this).

--------

i kick myself every time i see eliminage on sale. I broke down and bought that when i was sure it would never ever see a sale after ages of waiting, and now it goes on sale dirt cheap all the time. darn it.

----

how are the sonic rivals games if i like rayman but don't generally like platformers.

I enjoyed Mind Zero, but I don't think it's for everyone. I'd recommend it to people who liked Persona 1. Don't go into it expecting Persona 3/4.

3 Tales games on PS3, but not sure which to pick.

I like to assume Xillia 2 is the better one, but honestly no clue.

Graces f has the best battle system, but the worst story.

Xillia has a good battle system and a good story

Xillia 2 makes a few changes to the Xillia 1 battle system and I like the story more than Xillia 1. You don't need Xillia 1 to enjoy Xillia 2, but it is recommended.

I also wouldn't recommend playing them directly because they reuse a lot of assets and Xillia has a lot of empty fields.

Hyperdimension Neptunia ReBirth1

Neptunia is good, better than what I expected with its light-hearted humor. Tales of Heart R I still have to get, but from what I've heard is not as good as the DS version, far from being one of the best games on the system. Mind Zero is a meh persona clone, with a
cliffhanger ending that probably won't get solved
. The rest I don't have enough information.

Monster Monpiece for 4 bucks, uh? Sure, at that price I'll bite. I was curious when it first came out because I kept hearing it's a pretty solid card game but I was on the fence at full price.

It's about time I dusted off my Vita anyway. Haven't touched it since like... last fall. :(

I was thinking the same. Then I remembered the OTHER part of the gameplay. Then I was wondering if there was a way to prevent games from posting any activity (what are you playing now, trophies, the like) so as to avoid being followed by a priestess with a bell shouting "shame." Seriously, $4 is less than the coffee I got at Starbucks today and every review seems to state the card game part is great its the other part though...

How bad is Omega Quintet? Or, conversely, do we think it might hit this price or lower later on? I just started the Hyperdimension games on Vita (real late to that party). Outside of being really grindy, I am enjoying the game (which makes the grind feel worse as I want to progress the story). How does Quintet compare?

Think I might grab Mind/zero. Add it to the ever growing backlog...

Wow, Thought ToX2 and Hearts would be 10 bucks or less. With buying Batman and the Witcher 3 to play still, I can wait for next sale. :P

Neptunia is always tempting but I don't want to get sucked into that series as well >_>

Thanks for suggestions.

Just quickly glanced some video reviews of all 3.
Character art seems more appealing in Xillia1/2.

Guess I'll pick up Xillia 2, since I'm assuming they improved from the first one from what you are saying.

Graces F has the best subsystems and battle system. Stat progression tied to titles (achievement trophies you get at various story landmarks, for doing sidequests, or performing certain tasks in battle) felt natural and encouraged you to try new things. The Eleth Jar was a neat balancing act of giving you access to ultra rare items, generating more common items over time, or giving you bonuses in battle and is the best iteration of Tales cooking, which is superfluous in other games.

It also has a pretty forceful power of friendship slant to it. If you don't like those kinds of speeches and don't intend to skip every cutscene, this will likely become unbearable quickly. Even for people who enjoy JRPG tropes.

Otherwise, Xillia and Xillia 2 are pretty similar. Xillia 2 has several mechanic improvements over Xillia with more moves, more characters, implementing the Graces weakness mechanic which rewards you for hitting enemies with the right moves. It's also a direct sequel and the narrative and pacing is structured more like a Persona game, with character social links and events. Rather then being constrained by the plot, you're constrained on where you can go because of a debt requirement, which ends up as an annoyance. The lady that keeps reminding you about your debt is really persistent.

Xillia and Xillia 2 share something like 70-80% of their areas so go with Xillia 2 if you're looking to enjoy the Tales style vibrant A-RPG battle system. Xillia feels imcomplete in comparison, Xillia 2 feels messier and doesn't come together as nicely.

Kinda lame they only put the "Knight" edition of ToG on sale, forcing you to buy all those stat boost upgrade bs. Pretty sure the main game's been cheaper before.

Also, what's a good price point for Omega Quintet?

Don't play Xillia 2 before playing the first.

Vita/PSP:
-Valkyria Chronicles 2 (PSP/Vita Transfer Tittle) - 5.00

Everyone should buy this. Everyone. VC2 may be the weakest of the three, but it's still a lot of fun to play. I paid $22 for the version with all the DLC years ago and have never regretted it.

Mmh, a lot of things interesting to me here... but upon further reflexion, the PS3 Tales games are cheaper on the EU store.
Buying these from there, I could have a nice loot at the end of the day.

Sad to see that you won't be able to transfer your progression from Hollow Fragment Vita to the new one. No way in hell will a play what seems like a very meaty pseudo-MMO two times.

The 4.00 vita game is the best deal in terms of value and time if you ask me. It's actually a pretty fun card game, though it's sadly is pretty lewd with the character cards and upgrade mechanic which is so dumb. If you can get past that though the rest of the game is fine for pick up and play sessions .

Is Eliminage actually any good? What little I could find on the game online seemed mixed at best.

If you're familiar with any of the japanese Wizardry styled games (Class of Heroes, Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls, Operation Abyss), it's like that. I'd put it above CoH and Wizardry LoLS but below Operation Abyss. It's a pretty solid game.

lol at the prices we all thought would be cheaper. maybe just xillia ii for me

For PS4, How are Shadow Warrior and How To Survive?
Shadow Warrior is one of the best shooters to be released in forever, with an upcoming sequel that looks kickass. Grab it if you're not getting it for PC.
