Good news about stakes. Didn't really need yet another world ending threat. It works for someone like Superman, but something smaller and more personal works for a Spidey. And John Hughes as inspiration gives me a lot more faith in the teenager direction.
I want Peter Parker's Day Off.

I'd put money on Mysterio finally getting a spot in one of the next 2.

This is what I said for this in the other thread.
Just replace Doctor Octopus with Mysterio and we're fine.I want to see Doctor Octopus and Black Cat in the next movie. They can show that Spider-Man works as a street crime fighter but he can also deal with bigger threats.
Also, they can cast Kaya Scodelario as Black Cat.

I'd say it's locked in. Marvel likes to keep things pretty close to the comics, and there's really no reason for them to change the invented web-slingers. I can't think of an advantage of them going organic
Why? And even then, this is Marvel Studios who's producing the film. They'll most likely go with mechanical web shooters (as per Feige wanting this Spidey to stay as true to the comics as possible).

I like the organic web shooters and think they were a great idea.
Not that it matters, but around the time the first Raimi Spider-Man movie was released, Stan Lee said the same. IIRC the idea actually came from James Cameron, when he was attached to Spider-Man movies.
I don't see any problems with using the organic web shooters.
But the mechanical web shooters lead to some open questions, like:
If Peter Parker or even Oscorp (as in the Amazing movies) can invent the web shooters, and Spidy publicy shows that they work, why don't more people use them?
Also I think the organic web shooters are cool

I don't dislike the web shooters, but I prefer the mecanical web shooters. They are more comic book accurate and they show Peter's intelligence.

Regular people don't have the reflexes, agility, or strength to use web shooters
Good justification, if we are talking about swinging through buildings.
But I guess there would be many uses for the police (maybe to expensive), fireman, military, Damage Control, SHIELD/HYDRA or other Villains, that only require machinery, an no superhuman reflexes.
i.e: non lethal weaponry, securing buildings, impromptu bridges, framing Spidy for a crime.
There could be a compromise:
Peter has organic web shooters, but they aren't very precise or versatile, maybe good enough to swing, if he can pick targets in advance or just wants to hide quickly.
But not good enough to disarm people, or even shoot them or tie them down, or more complex stuff.
So he uses mechanical webshooters, which basicly get their amunition from Peter's body, sitting on top of the organic web shooters.
Would be a cool new way, that respects various source materials, has similar storytelling possibilities, and could be improved in the future by new tech from Stark or Shield, but would still be unique to Peter/Spidy
Also without the Spidersense working in the background folks would die while webslinging. Spidey sense subconsciously makes sure Peter always aims for a good spot on buildings.

Gwen Stacy should be portrayed exactly or as close to the Gwen Stacy from Spectacular Spider-Man.

Marvel retroactively made Peter's lack of organic webbing make more sense via Silk. Plus with mechanical web shooters, you allow Peter to modify his webbing to counter whoever he's fighting.

I prefer mechanical webshooters, because that means EVENTUALLY they will have to have a moment where they run out of fluid in a tense fight, and Peter has to make it out alive without them
Also it makes more sense than in Spider-Man 2, where he loses his spider powers because he's sad.
