How to get a Redbull code for Destiny's Exclusive Mission.

The next time somebody asks, "why do companies treat their customers like criminals?" remember this thread.

You mean how they put everything behind buying a product I don't want?

Or that certain items are hidden behind DLC in CE?

Yep. Criminals.

It's human nature to find the best and easiest way to accomplish something. I blame Red Bull for making the codes so easy to generate.

I have a can right here I bought today. its been stolen.

fuck me amirite? guess I will have to get over it, I deserved it for playing Destiny

herp.

Seriously this thread is fucked up.
The problem isn't on the end of those abusing the issue, it's on the end of those who created the issue in the first place. Everybody who cares about this has noticed it, and is going to abuse it. You can't just look the other way, ignore it, and suddenly the issue will cease to exist. If he doesn't snag the code through this, someone else will.

You don't buy an energy drink for a code to benefit you in a video game. That's not something you should be promoting. That's embarrassing to the video game industry, and you should have realized by now that after all of these terrible Dewrito promotions, it's very easy to abuse on the non-buyer's end, and there's really no reason to start buying all of these products with the expectation of bonus XP or exclusive content. People are going to be walking through stores, snapping pictures of exposed codes, and potentially "robbing" you of the code you bought.

But wait, you bought a can of Red Bull, not Destiny XP. You got your can of Red Bull. Enjoy it. You're promoting paid games having pay-to-win content if you're legitimately upset over this. Congrats.

Ok so that is a crime to you but how isn't this? The codes are getting stolen from purchasers of the cans

There is no defense for this.

I'm going to spell it out in a way you can understand, He bought the cans specifically to give the codes to others who may not have access to them. His own code is redeemed already from a can he bought.

That is theft, someone stole his code from his can and your saying it's ok because the promotion shouldn't happen. The promotion sucks but someone stealing a code from a legit purchaser of the can is shitty. It's indefensable.

I'm sure this exploit is all over Reddit, Slick Deals, etc.

Damn, now I'm the fool who spent $3.86 on a can of Red Bull for a code that's most likely been "stolen" by now.

Can't stop laughing at the morality issues within this thread.

Yep cats out of the bag. Theres no stopping it. Only right way to solve this is if activision gives it out to everyone, but honestly i've lost track of right and wrong when it comes to this game and its content.

no I am upset because my legit code was stolen. I even bought a bunch for Destiny GAF in other regions.. Fuck me for trying to be a good guy.

Uh no the code on the can has been stolen

the can itself is right there and you can even drink it! Which is usually why people buy red bull anyway

Over the last couple of years I've probably had 3 or 4 dud codes from promotions like this. It's way better to treat the code like a nice bonus you get with the drink, if you are literally going out to buy products just because of a code attached to them when you don't even want the actual item you are doing it wrong

Exactly my feelings on this whole thing.

we're giving away content with soda now? WTF
Locking a 'multi-part' mission behind it as a timed exclusive. A Destiny mission. Because it has so much content to spare ya know.

Putting a mission behind a soft-drink paywall was the initial bad move. People haxxing their way into the codes is the second one.

Oh, Destiny.

So many words to basically say "fuck you I got mine". There's no excuse for this.

I said it to someone else, but this is posted on other places online too. Even without this thread, it would still be happening. I messaged a mod before posting it, and was told Its fine to post.

It is a terrible promotion, both in itself, and in the backdoors. Can't stop that.

Speaking of which, finally got the website to go through with the code I submitted 20 minutes ago, and it worked. Easy enough. Thanks Bungievision!

You're sitting in a thread giving you a workaround to your issue. Snag a code before they're all gone, or continue to complain until they're all gone anyways, and you're left with nothing.

Would you blame your neighbor for leaving his doors unlocked?

Yes? Why would you do that?

"Would you blame me if I left money on the sidewalk?"

Yes!

Remember when games were finished when you purchased them? And you didn't have to buy a $4 drink at a specific store?

Remember when you didn't have to preorder at a specific store to get a specific set of missions?

But hey, blame the people who wanted this included with the original $60 they spent on the game.

So that makes it OK to promote stealing codes from paying customers? Yeah, no.

What the fuck to whichever mod that approved this.

Interesting that you feel desire for more entertainment justifies theft.

how can a mod approve a thread that is telling people how to steal? even if its happening everywhere else? GAF is usually pretty good on this stuff.

Also how is this argument being turned into this promo is bullshit? even if it is. The OP is telling members of this thread how to steal from paying customers.

cool.

Just message the mods, hrm?

You aren't going to find an answer you like from most people here.

And thanks OP for the information, I will do whatever I please with it.

edit: Hope all the people that are asking for the thread to be removed realize that each and every time they post a new message - they are pushing this to the front page again.

Interesting that you don't even respond to the point that was being made.

Of course I'll blame someone for leaving their door unlocked. There's a lock for a reason.

You think I keep my doors locked from thieves? I keep my doors locked from me. I need to be contained, or else...

I drink Red Bull already so I figured I'd get the Destiny edition to level up my character that I've been neglecting. Can't use my codes now. I would say I hope those of you who abused this feel bad but I don't really care. I'll just email Bungie with a copy of my receipt and the codes and get new codes.

Right, because determining that there's a pattern to the Red Bull soda code and making the information available to people is 'morally bankrupt'.
Willfully using a code when you know someone else is going to end up paying money for it is the unethical part.

It's ok, since you bought the $60 game and maybe the $40 worth of DLC, you can buy the new DLC for $40 in September and then wait till January for this quest!

Willfully using a code when you know someone else is going to end up paying money for it is the unethical part.

Eh, I guess. Just doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Especially when you have resources like this: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12131 that can help you out if the code isn't working.

I'm glad you agree.

Sorry to disappoint but I was being sarcastic. If you're still unable to figure out my position on the matter then I'll spell it out for you: entering in semi random characters into a soda vendor's website to get non tangible items in a video game does not mean that someone has absolutely no moral standing.

It's human nature to find the best and easiest way to accomplish something. I blame Red Bull for making the codes so easy to generate.

Really? Theft is easier than earning the money to buy stuff. Doesn't make it right.

So many on here are morally bankrupt. Just reprehensible. I expected better from GAFfers.

Willfully using a code when you know someone else is going to end up paying money for it is the unethical part.

But if so many people are using the codes illegally, won't that code just inevitably end up getting taken by a different person making guesses?

The promotion is screwed. Cans have been shipped, and most are bunk. Activision is going to have to do something to alleviate the situation so people still get what they expect. Unless they want both Red Bull & 7/11 to never do business with them again.

Well I'm ok with stealing codes because I think that they are a free bonus ON TOP of the drink you are buying and yeah it's kind of lame if they are used but really at the end of the day you got what you paid for

What the fuck though at the people blaming people that leave their doors open and getting robbed. That's not even a good comparison with this situation at all! They are on such hugely different levels I'm not sure why it's even being discussed here

Why do I suddenly feel like a sucker for actually enjoying a Red Bull from time to time?
You shouldn't.

But what you should realize is that you're not buying an energy drink for extra Destiny content. You're buying an energy drink for the energy drink.

would you be ok if someone got hold of your bank info this way and stole your money

stealing is stealing is stealing and it can't be ok sometimes and not ok other times. it's wrong 100% of the time. that is the point.
Your comparisons are getting absolutely ridiculous. A 30 minute 50% bonus XP reward and a single exclusive mission are not comparable to your bank account information and your entire home.
