Lab Zero (Skullgirls) announce Indivisible "Metroidvania” w/ Valkyrie Profile combat"

Good, there haven't been enough crowdfunded Metroidvania games lately ( ≖‿≖)

Will back if they include Umbrella somehow.

Hey, what's going on this this threa... oh!

The crowdfunding and playable prototype will be coming soon, likely in early September.

The actual game will be out around 2 years later.

Hurry up so I can give you my money already. I've run out of platforms to buy skullgirls on. Thanks!

Lab Zero? I don't even care what it is, I'm there day 0!

All of luck to these guys, they are quite outstanding.

I also love their character designs.

Even Lab Zero is into this silly name-dropping bullshit. What does Valkyrie Profile combat even mean in the context of a "Metroidvania"? Is it actually a JRPG with 2D maps?

Even Valkyrie Profile itself already play somewhat like metroidvania

Sounds interesting. The trailer was a whole bunch of nothing though. What does the game actually look like?!

.....Oh. :(

Hope it does well, Skullgirls did a little over 800k on indiegogo.
Skullgirls post release support and the Indiegogo were game development on hard mode. I'm confident the crowdfunding campaign will be expertly crafted.

Having a playable prototype in September for a game two years away from release sounds pretty good if you ask me.

Everything about this game sounds incredibly interesting. I'm in.

Really cool to see them expand from Skullgirls.

Music sounds dope, art looks nice. Wish it were a more focused kind of 2D action game than the SotN-style game I'm assuming this will be. I'd like to be surprised.

Just curious, why did you guys decide to go with Indiegogo again?
I know the reason stated for Skullgirls was cause you got the money quicker, which was necessary for that time, given how things were going with Konami.
But I imagine you guys are doing relatively ok now, so wouldn't the extra exposure of Kickstarter be better?

Looks great and they have enough good rep with SG already to guarantee me going in for the Indiegogo. While I use both Indiegogo and Kickstarter, kinda wonder what the benefits of one compared to the other is when it comes to funding a game.

At least they didn't call it the 'Dark Souls' of Metroidvanias.

Oh, damn. Best of luck then. This seems like a very promising project.

Skullgirls' IndieGoGo campaign was the biggest one they've ever had for a game; IGG even tried to get them to extend the campaign to keep it going! Kickstarter may be a bigger name, but IGG definitely wanted Lab Zero to stick around for the Skullgirls DLC; I can see them going out of their way to be the crowdfunding site used for LZ's next game.

OH MY GOD

I was so worried Lab Zero wouldn't be able to progress after Skullgirls, but it looks like they're ready to dive into another game, and it looks awesome.

It means....well Valkyrie Profile kind of. That game's dungeons was 2D maps. Probably gonna have skills you gain through the dungeons to help traverse new areas like in other metroidvanias, since VP didn't really have any of that.

HNNNNNG I don't care much for fighting games but I really like Skullgirls character designs.and animations. I look forward to this much more.

As interesting as this could be, I'm taking it to mean that The Adventures of Squigly and Leviathan is probably not in development.

Reminder that it's been 2 years since the Skullgirls kickstarter and the majority of us backers are very happy / impressed with how the game has gone. And after seeing Mike Z show off how their current engine can transition to other types of games very quickly I'm convinced enough to throw money at this.

where are the boobs and panty shots?
Held hostage behind a fundraising goal I imagine.

The support for SG's after all the development drama has been amazing, it's great how Lab-Zero managed to prove themselves after some of that drama about their fundraising goals being 'greedy'. Didn't they loan out SG's engine to a few other fan projects as well? Or were those just other fighting games?

I'm glad to live in a world people make games inspired by Super Metroid. Ori and the Blind Forest is like the best game this year after Bloodborne.

Suck it Nintendo.
