Thoughts on playing through emulator with the game discs? Or is it better to just rip the ISOs and play it from the file? Basically given up on finding a decent priced PAL Dreamcast :(

I'm watching the first archive of Gametrailer's Shenmue II stream and about 49 minutes in they start talking about could Shenmue III be made today, one of them even says that he doesn't think it could be crowd funded. Then almost immediately they start talking about The Last Guardian.

Bear in mind this was recorded in February.

My Dreamcast is still at the parentals house, they've unearthed it and some games (Shenmue SHOULD be amongst them), and I WILL play Shenmue 1 again! (Might need to find some power/AV cables though from the sounds of things).

YES!
Would rather a good remaster of the first two games for current gen consoles though. SEGA!!!

Should be fine in any DVD drive.

Really? I thought only special drives could read Dreamcast games. I was actually looking into purchasing one from ebay. I'll have to look into whether mine does or not later.

If you're getting new AV cables, make sure you go all out and get a VGA box.

I've been watching it too (in addition to my Dremacast Shenmue 2 playthrough). It's incredible to look this recently into the past and know what is about to drop onto them. Also great that the whole playthrough stretches past E3.

So i wont get some of the rewards from the 80 dollar if i am already backing 300

All tiers above $80 get this reward.

I mean, I know it isn't always explicitly detailed, but is anyone else tired of people coming in with the same 5 questions about thw rewards? It is all spelled out for anyone willing to look...

Great updates, love the recognition nod to all the various Shenmue communities who have kept it alive after all these years and the new tears are great.

I'm at 300 now and was probably going to go to 500 but I think the 800 looks really good if I can justify the funds over the next week!

Actually I may be completely wrong on that. The GDROMs can be ripped with a DVD drive but emulators won't boot them. You should be able to find the ISO images of the games you have online.

Mkay. Man, fuck this shit. PAL Dreamcasts are worth a mint at the moment while everybody cashes in on the hype. All I want is a console and a VGA box damnit!!

This is a MUST pledge if you only pledge $60 or haven't pledged at all. It would be fantastic if the phone call discussions also affect certain pathways in the game, just like the secret fights and other aspects you can gain in Shenmue 2.

So I noticed something about today's new tier updates. Today, we were at ten days left and it was posted right around the time it hit midnight in Japan going into the 8th. The tiers today were $80 and $800. It'd be cool if tomorrow we get a 90 and 900 tier followed by 100 and 1000 etc until the campaign ended. I'm probably pulling this out of my ass.

That 10 days left becoming 9 days left really makes a difference in letting it sink in that we have only a short while left.

I agree. I assume we will see some post KS funding, though. I would really like to see it hit everything after 5mio., that seems to be the part with the interesting updates.

There are 24,317 digital backers. If 5,000 of them change their tier to physical, that would be an easy $145,000. A lot of people are new to Kickstarter and do not know you can change your tiers, or are just unaware to do it. It would be cool if the Shenmue 3 Kickstarter mentioned something on their page or in the next update a reminder that you can change your tiers from digital to physical or to anything else before the campaign ends.

If PayPal funding is set up after the KS, is there a way to get an honest overview of donations through that medium? Or are we reliant on them to prodive those figures?

The last few days will be wild, just like the first few. It's the middle part of a big Kickstarter that always feels tough. Usually the beginning and end are a thrill-ride.

Haven't pledged yet but I'm getting weak. There's a lot of stuff I don't like about this Kickstarter, and I'm talking specifically about the page and not additional funding.

Buuuuut, Shenmue was such a huge deal for me in the DC days. It's only $28 to get the game. Ahhhh.

The kickstarter page is ran by contractors and has no bearing on how the game's development will turn out. If you have any specific concerns, it may have been answered already in one of Suzuki's interactions with the fans or interviews.

i was really hoping sega would announce 1+2 hd while the kickstarter campaign was still going, because it would definitely drive some more pledges from people who are willing to back it now that they know they can easily play 1+2

but...i'm kinda starting to lose hope. though i still think they'll do it at some point, because it'd be silly not to.

Never count on Sega for prompt action. The epitome of Japanese corporate sluggishness.

Sometimes they do the right thing, but always two years later then they should have.
