*thumbs up*

Seeing all those rewards make me hope that the game won't be plastered with name and faces of gamers. I don't want that to take me out of the game.

The only semi-intrusive ones are the lucky hit board faces, and no one seems to be going for those. The rest are where you'd usually expect names and faces.

I really like the two new rewards they've included. Too expensive for me, but they're fitting inclusions for the game, and another nice way to pay service to the fans by inserting them into the world of Shenmue. The thought of visiting more Chinese temples gets me giddy as well. I love that part in 2 where you required to wipe the dust-ridden walls in search of the Wude characters. The atmosphere in that place was felt.

That would be cool, really, but what sort of boost could provide so much money ?
We are close to the end of the campaign.

The end of a campaign usually has a huge boost, especially on the last day. That has been the case with pretty much every kickstarter.

We are close to the end of the campaign.

It's common for game projects to end with the last 24-48 hours nearing the total from the first 24-48 hours. I guess a lot of people don't realize that they won't be charged until the minute the campaign ends.

we've had a few good days. a slowdown was to be expected.

Ive never experienced a kickstarter before so for me this campaign is fascinating, almost as much as a sports game. I want to see donations maximise. We only have a week left. I really want them to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

I want them to hit TEN MILLION.

Its doable. It so is. I want to see them do it. If Sega can get on board with a S1&2 remaster, if they can include the Virtua Fighter series arcades, maybe a playable Saturn/Dreamcast console, many would double/triple their contributions.

We've already have PS4 physical copies offered. I never expected that. I want to see Sega themselves deliver on some magic (so i can forgive them for the 32x, Mega CD and Saturn). So far Sony have been the white nights and Sega have been sat on their lazy arses offering almost nothing. I almost wish they would just die at this point and Im a hard core Sega fanboy.

I wanna see this campaign go balls to the wall.

I wanna see a 'one last thing' style magic to really give this campaign a boost.

i mean, who knows what'll happen in the last week. i think what you want is a little too high in terms of expectations though.

But that is not a given. We need media exposure and good additional goals to capitalize the sense of urgency of the last days.

Bloodstained had sweet end-of-campaign stretch goals and then, great media exposure. I hope that AJ has that card up its sleeve

Some help from Sega, if they still have the Shenmue IP outside of this one, would be an investment. They could help bring the series back to life and then jump back on it.

I just hope they cool it on the technique scrolls. I don't really want an incomplete moveset just because I couldn't afford these ultra high tiers.

How? Raising $5m in 30 days is guaranteed and with PayPal they can easily raise another $5m in TWO YEARS. I believe $10m will create a definitive Shenmue 3. Oh and it will so be the real deal Shenmue 3, not some half baked $2m continuation.

However SEGA, need to wake up from their coma and do one last good thing before they die. Theyre sitting on a ton of dying IP. Let Yu include a series of console/arcade games. I dont even care if they choose to publish and profit from Shenmue 4 in the longer term.

In fact Sega have been nothing but cowardly mutes in all of this. SONY have been the true heroes here and its not even their IP.

All Sega have to do is be agreeable, let Yu do all the hard work and watch some money role in. Its a total no brainer.

If you think about it this KS and the announcement on Sony's stage really was marketing genius. Whilst other similar megaton announcements like TLG and the FFVII Remake have faded away in their importance and reach Shenmue 3 remains active in the hearts and minds of everyone almost an entire month later due to this KS campaign. Shenmue has effectively had an entire month dedicated to itself remaining at the forefront of press attention and active in the minds of everyone because of this KS campaign. Imagine if the announcement was just "Sony is funding Shenmue 3". The announcement would have faded away quite rapidly just like the other games did. This KS campaign was just genius. So many more people are aware of the Shenmue series and Shenmue 3 now than would have otherwise been possible. The impact of this route was more effective than the game being announced via the standard method. Masterful.

Yu Suzuki did the right thing going this route. Shenmue went from dormant to alive and kicking for almost an entire month now.

Try to think less in terms of missing out on some small feature and more in terms of the developers having access to a substantially larger pot of money to improve the game with.

Without Sega being 'agreeable', there would be no Shenmue 3. Some would do well to be thankful to all organisations involved who have made this possible, regardless of the apparent size of their role.

5/6 million is a cert, but i'm not sure paypal will bring in *that* much over the next two years. they kind of need to start work with the budget they've got anyway. cash injections in video games kind of need to be staggered as large payments anyway instead of "hey we made another $25,000 this week, let's go make a few new things".

sega won't help the campaign. they let yu use the shenmue licence. that's basically the extent of their involvement in this really, and i don't expect it to change in the next 9 days. even if it does i don't see them helping on the scale you want them to, especially when it comes to implementing full arcade ports of the VF series.

And SEGA blew a huge wad bringing us Shenmue in the first place.

I don't really consider techniques for combat insignificant. The other stuff is fine since those are essentially little easter eggs but limiting certain players' options in combat doesn't sit well with me.

Thankful is a strong word. It was a for profit business arrangement like any other. Maybe they were trying to generate some good will with fans, we don't really know. Most likely it was Sega throwing Suzuki a bone in case they need him for a project down the line.

I dont understand this defeatist attitude. Yu is on par with Miyamoto in my eyes.

Sega have done nothing more than agree to refrain from legal action from Yu using their Shenmue IP. I appreciate that. I'll bow down to Sega for that. How about Sega take a step further and allow Yu to use any IP on games he himself developed that Sega themselves have not monetised in say the last decade? If Yu was allowed to include the Virtua Fighter series, I would triple my donation in a heartbeat.

What is wrong with gathering, lighting our torches and taking our pitchforks to Sega? We have come this far. Why not go all the way? What have we got to lose? Its OUR GOD DAMNED MONEY invested in this.

The way i see it, after this kickstarter is over and the money is in, we have a whole list of campaigns to take against Sega. I was gonna say Sony too but they've gone above and beyond the call of duty by agreeing to physical PS4 disks, marketing, development support.

Sega, shame on you. Unless they step up to the plate they are deader to me than they ever were

That's cool. It's your opinion. I was just suggesting that you will get a better game on balance because somebody else is able to pledge more than you.

You may lose one move from a presumably long and ample move list, but in return you will get a game that has been improved to the tune of thousands of dollars. It may not sit perfectly with you as a fan who wants the fullest experience available, but you are undoubtedly benefiting more than you're losing out.

This is the uneven nature of convincing people to fund something out of their own pocket and it seems its the only way S3 could happen.
