SHENMUE 3 kickstarter (PC/PS4) - FINAL DAY - NEW KS RECORD GO GO GO!

Yeah, I am definitely not worried about anything on this game. Yu Suzuki gathered the Channel 3 News Team for this game. It will be nothing short of legendary.

Shenmue 3 also ain't going to be some sort of graphics or tech benchmark. The game design talent is more important than the technical wizardry supporting this game.

Many of Shenmue's features have been replicated in games today. But few or none had ever wanted to replicate the exact design structure, the soul of Shenmue, so to speak.

Unfortunately less than $50K and 500 backers yesterday, still good numbers when compared to the campaign as a whole. The worrying bit is that e.g. Bloodstained only had one more day (corresponding to today for Shemue 3:s campaign) where funding dropped from an earlier day. Counting from tomorrow on Bloodstained ended on a steady climb.

Someone ask for more of a peek at Shenmue for Saturn. The video on Shenmue II was incredible, but I want to see more! there must be some awesome stuff they saved, right?

Going to ask:

- what chapters from the 11 chapter story is covered in Shenmue 3?
- is it safe to assume that the CGi renders from Shenmue 1/2 are the intended final look for the character models?
Someone should ask if Shenmue I+II HD would let you transfer saves to Shenmue III if such ports did end up coming to be.

Hi guys! Sorry if this has been answered already (this thread is huge, and happily so :D) but I upped my pledge to $80 from $60. Does the kickstarter keep my choice of physical PS4 version? (It didn't ask me what version I wanted at 80, only at 60 before).

Lastly, it said "no shipping" when I looked at the changes from $60 to $80 for some reason, any idea about this?

Many thanks in advance!!

How was this running on the Dreamcast? Looks a generation ahead. PC emu screen though, but nothing has been touched up besides the AA. Image was taken from a YT walkthrough,

MobyGames has a complete list of credits: http://www.mobygames.com/game/dreamcast/shenmue/credits

Shenmue II (Dreamcast version) credit list: http://www.mobygames.com/game/dreamcast/shenmue-ii/credits

I would imagine that almost all of the same key personnel worked on both games. Shenmue I and II were planned as one game originally, you can see clips from Shenmue I and II in the Sega Saturn beta footage.

Thanks man :). Though, why is it stated there directed by Keiji Okayasu? I thought Yu is the father of Shenmue and directed it?

Yu Suzuki is still listed as Director as well, but Keiji Okayasu is listed as game director and software director. I'm not really sure what makes a "game director" different from an overall director. But Keiji Okayasu seemed to be in charge of the software development tools and other technical aspects of the game.

yeah, game development has to be compartmentalised and delegated like this usually. especially large and ambitious games like shenmue.

To add on to AlteredBeast's stats for July 8:

$45527 gained
$22240 of it came from the new tiers ($80, $800, $1200 and $1400 tiers)

Backer change per tier for the day:
$5 tier, +7
$29 tier, -44
$60 PC, -31
$60 PS4, +229
$80 tier, +153
$100 tier, +55
$120 tier, +9
$160 tier, +2
$175 tier, +21
$250 tier, +7
$300 tier, +34
$500 tier, -12
$800 tier, +2
$1000 bag, 0
$1000 message, -1
$1200 tier, +7
$1400 tier, 0
$1500 tier, -1

Beyond the $1500 tier nothing really changed. So far today is off to a better start than yesterday so hopefully we'll see good numbers. $45.5k was still pretty good for the day.

I'm wondering if the digital trial version will become the full retail version when the game launches. That way if I up my pledge to the $100 tier I could get a PS4 physical copy and PC digital copy.

Hi Fady, not sure about the shipping question but you'll receive a survey via email after the kickstarter ends which will let you choose the version of the game you want (PC or PS4).

by the way, just checked how long that huber gametrailers stream was from last night

six hours holy fuuuuuck

i knew they had a lot of game left but that is crazy. how much of that is lucky hit?

Very happy about that. The video does a great job of getting people up to speed on what Shenmue is about.
yeah. i did see someone whining about it in the comments though, but that's average for a kickstarter's comments page.

it's a good video, and it's made with real fan enthusiasm.

Do you think Yu Suzuki keep a strong announcement for the last days to improve backing ? Or backing improvement will be automatic, like some people say here ?

Kickstarter comments are always populated by insane people.

ShenmueGAF is by far the most relaxed place I've found to discuss the Kickstarter and the games.

Kickstarter charges you right after it ends, right? I'm itching to raise my pledge from 120 to 250, but can't now :c

Unless I can raise my pledge after The KS ends, it'll stay like this.

Think about it. Finishing a Shenmue II playthrough just a few weeks ago was a sad occasion where there was no more Shenmue. This has changed.
i can't wait to reach the ending on my latest playthrough. i might save it for the last night of the campaign.

actually that's how it'll probably end up anyway. i don't get to play video games outside of the weekends right now. good thing arkham knight on pc turned out to be a mess so i could dedicate myself totally to shenmue.

Aye, now I can complete Shenmue II and not feel crippling depression every time the credits start scrolling.
the ending was always so bittersweet. it was hard for 14 years not knowing when it'd be continued, but being at the end of one of the greatest games ever? it was totally worth the heartbreak for so long.
