Now that I'm home, I'm kinda curious about how Combofiend lied about shying away from clones (shying away, btw, doesn't mean there won't even be any. Just that they're trying to avoid them) means no more than one shoto (which also confuses me as to how shotos are inherently clones apparently?).

It's SF5, you can have similar moves with characters. This isn't the no shotos club. They're allowed more than one.

That's funny because I had same thought when I saw Ken's design. It really reminded me of someone from KOF.

I originally said that not reading comments about the max vs combo video. It seems a bunch of people had that impression. Good thing multiple people are noticing just how wildly different (and snk-like) current Ken is.

Just realized - Ken playing like a KOF character fits right into the "go after Latin American/Asian markets" strategy.

I think its a good move (no pun intended). More utility from 3 different variations of a move instead of 3 different startup/ranges. When was the last time you saw a Rog player do a fierce dash punch or a bipson do roundhouse scissors? Ken having different flippy kicks is a good design choice.

I'm not a fan of his face and hair, but I like what they did to differentiate him even more from Ryu. But man this makes me kind of sad for Ryu. He's still so basic compared to even the other returning characters. He doesn't need to be revamped, but it would be nice if they added some new flavor to his gameplay
give us back the mule kick
. But anyways I'm looking forward to trying out this new Ken. I've always been a Shoto player so I'm glad their is more than one choice to choose from.

ryu's fine. I'm pretty excited to use him in V despite not enjoying him much in IV (the fireball buff made him way more fun). his fireballs look beast and landing some nice solid single hits and anti-airs is going to pay off way more than in IV.

Never thought of all people, Ken would be the one to most grab my attention in a new Street Fighter title.

Ryu lookin' really tap water without any ice/new seasons of the simpsons right now

"yo check out my V-trigger my fireballs go faster now :wow:"

LMFAO

You're really about that life huh.

Also unblockable. No chip kills ain't a problem, you still got to jump if you don't want to die.

If charged, I guess the mix up is the timing between charged and non charged to see if they try to beat it out with their anti fireball abilities or whatever.

Which is a bummer since I was hoping they would use this look in XIV instead of the classic one. Oh well, there's still that Mr. Karate look of his with the goatee.

There's also Rugal:

Looks like BGS (Brazil Game Show, the South American Capcom Pro Tour entry) is splitting up the regular tournament with top 8 played a week later at a different convention.

They just announced this as well. This fucks up any foreign player trying to compete unless you're willing to spend a week in Brazil for no reason.

Man that's pretty fucked up. I guess they didn't like Sako taking their spot 2 years ago. This pretty much guarantees that a Brazilian takes it unless a foreigner(or even another South American from a different country) can spend over an entire week in Brazil.

The other thing is that I don't think this Premier Event even pays out a prize like most do. It seems like this one and the two Japanese ones are only for a spot with no prize money. Which makes the trip to try and win this event even more unattractive. I hope Capcom does something about this. Something like this shouldn't fly nowadays, it's so transparent what they're wanting to get out of this.

This is an issue of BS with local gambling laws.

BTW, don't know if you saw but Capcom is working with Brave Wave to release the remastered SF2 soundtrack (including on vinyl if that's your thing).

Brave Wave is awesome. The list of classic game composers they work with is amazing.

"The soundtrack release will include new remasters of both CPS-1 and CPS-2 versions of the arcade game, extracted directly from the arcade boards and approved by original composer Yoko Shimomura."

It would be so great if they got her to compose for SFV.

They got her for the two remixes in Smash 4.

Speaking of CPT, with SFV probably not releasing until end of first quarter 2016 (Jan-March 2016), I wonder when the first ranking event will start. Stuff like Cannes Winter Clash was before Final Round, the first Premier event. Final Round might be okay since that's in late March, but what will earlier events do? Just host Ultra tournaments, or will they get SFV pre-release tournaments as well?

Its a promotional gimmick for their game. Obviously they are going to have some kind of version of SFV to run things on, it's not like they are selling more copies of Ultra.

The two things I'm probably most interested in knowing is if USF4 will be dropped and how much money will CPT 2016 be paying out for SFV and USF4 if it's included. I feel like they have to at least match the 500k they've payed out this year for USF4 with SFV next year. Of course everybody is hoping they up the ante and make it a cool million but we'll see. As for USF4, I hope it's still included and has a decent pay out, something like 100k. I still enjoy playing and watching the game so I don't want it to be removed just yet.

It wont be dropped, but it will get a lot less money, like when UMvC3/3s/SF2 were part of CPT, I guess.

Mika would be an interesting addition as a grappler instead of the usual really bulky type, especially if they also include Alex. Having more female characters would be nice.

No wonder they sounded so good.
