Sales ranking announced by Famitsu. This time, we bring you a summary of estimated weekly sales figures for game software and hardware from July 7 to July 13, 2025 in Japan.

Mario Kart World continues to do well, in its sixth week since its release. It sold 65,853 units this week, making it the top seller for the sixth consecutive week. The game event "Nintendo Live 2025" is scheduled to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from October 4 to October 5 2025, it is also expected to be a big hit with stage events for this title and tournaments in which players invited from all over the world will compete.

In second place is Tamagotchi no Puchi Puchi Omisetchi Omashita! and in fourth place is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Which celebrated it's 8th anniversary back in April. Among the titles that are regulars in the top 10, Patapon 1 + 2 Replay ranked in third place for the first time.

This title is a set and remaster of two rhythm action titles released for the PlayStation Portable. New support elements have been added such as three difficulty settings, input timing adjustment function and constant display function of drum commands, these have also been well received.

Turning to the hardware side of things, the Nintendo Switch 2 sold well again this week, with 71,885 units sold. Although it depends on the number of units shipped, we can expect further sales growth as we enter the summer vacation season.

Embarrassing for Death Stranding 2 and Sony. And this is where I see the problem: developers aren't being controlled and allowed to develop whatever they want under the umbrella of art. Imagine if we had a game similar to MGS? That would be something.

Patapon selling more on Switch than PlayStation is so weird lol
Patapon 4k remaster for Playstation consoles has been out for over 8 years - it'd be weirder if this new one sold much at all - since it's literally just repackaging the same thing, again.
I mean not all fanbases are RE4 crazy - and even there people stopped buying the endless rereleases after awhile.

PS5 DE: 938 (total: 979,053)

DE was a mistake.

Xbox Series X: 54 (total 320,982)
Xbox Series X DE: 75 (total 21,063)
Xbox Series S: 118 (total 338,702)

Press F to pay respect.

Weird is Playstation on Japan. Nothing weird about a japanese focus plataform selling more other software there.

I mean, nothing is stopping Sony to promove their hardware there, right?

DE was a mistake.
But the point is DE and regular are the same hw-SKU now - it's just bundle with/without drive.
20% extra sales with no cumbersome separate manufacture process says 'win win' to me from Sony perspective.

The fact DE in Japan costs more than disc PS5 in most other parts of the world though...

No point of DE if the PRO is selling more than double.

PS had lost the Japan market. PS5 needs a very big price drop in Japan to at least lessen the damage. Sony made a big misstep in Japan but PS is still a big success around the world.

If Sony really wanted a low cost model they should have done two PS5 models from start, one cheaper and worse and one more expensive but better. I think PS has the brand strength to benefit from such a strategy, unlike Xbox with Series X/S. It could have prevented PS5 from declining from the PS4 in Europe.

There is a difference between what Sony want and what consumers want.

And as you can see, this is not what consumers want. There is no point of PS5 DE if PS5pro is selling more than double of PS5 DE even being double the price.

No the Series S was a way bigger mistake than the PS5 DE
