Transformers: Devastation (Platinum Games) - SDCC trailer

This didn't even cross my mind until now. No one has ever voiced a G1 Starscream other than Chris Latta, right? I know it's technically not G1 we're dealing with with Devastation, but come on... It's G1.
Doug Parker voiced G1 Starscream in the Beast Wars episode Possession.

Dat Rising hud.

Anarchy Reigns with Transformers.

Four words that would make my gaming life complete. Give it to me Platinum, I beg you!

Between this and Godzilla, that's gaming heaven for 80's kids.

Force Five next please?
Or oldschool GI Joe?
Gatchaman/ Battle of the Planets??

Isn't that the ghost episode? Haven't watched Beast Wars in a long time.

Yep, the one where he possesses Waspinator.

It showed how badass and dangerous Starscream really was. My man wasn't just all scheming, treacherous, and a pretty face.
He had serious skills :)

Oh man this is everything I want out of a Transformers game, all I need is Instruments of Destruction included in the soundtrack and it becomes instant GOTY for me.

And about Starscream, I'm hoping they get Tom Kenny to voice him. I might be in the minority here but he does a damn good Starscream in my opinion, or get Doug Parker, either choice is prime.

Already pre-ordered. Give me a sexy collectors edition and I'll pre-order again.

Tell me that you've got James Roberts to rewrite the script and I'd pre-order five.

Pretty sure Roberts has nothing to do with this game ;P

Starscream was a lot of things but competent was not one of them :V

No, combat seems very different personally. The Emphasis on air combos alone makes that obvious.

Wrong! He was the very component and dare I say the best at what he does...
Failing to otherthrow Megatron.

Motherfucking SOLD.

This shit has the touch. It has the poowwweeerrrrrrrr.

So good.

That building should be leveled the way Megatron is getting smacked into it though. Transformers are instruments of destruction.

If they put the 80's movie soundtrack in here, awwww shiiiiit! I first watched it at the movie theater then went and bought that soundtrack. Keep the Transformers G1 though.

"King Starscream"... Has a nice ring to it :)

Megatron will always be my favorite Decepticon leader though.

Will it have a season pass of dinobots and constructocons?

Will it have Soundwave micro transactions like $5.99 for Laser Beak and Rumble cassette tapes?

Dat Activision long term plan

Only worry I have is the moment-to-moment game design, something Platinum is hit or miss with. They either knock it out of the park as the best of the best, or the cracks show through pretty obviously. Being a licensed game worries me a little in that regard, but I remain optimistic because the combat itself (the other important pillar) looks fucking fantastic and the graphics look borderline perfect for what it's trying to be. Stylistically Platinum are rarely not 100% on point, so the idea of them doing a G1 Transformers game and homage to the 80s makes me giddy.

Oh, wow, fuck. I was a little disappointed about this when it was initially announced and at that meh first trailer, but now I'm pretty much sold with the new trailer and that gameplay video.

I cannot believe what I'm watching. My levels of excitement are off the fucking charts. I saw Grimlock give some poor scrap heap a PILEDRIVER. WTFFFFFFF.

So it seems like those vehicle attacks are done with the same button as the dodge button, which has been movied to R1 this time around (I hope they give you the option to switch it to R2, because my muscle memory's not going to be happy :P), and switching to vehicle mode is a hold rather than a double tap (as with Panther mode and its equivalents). D-pad is the on-the-fly weapon switch we all wanted in Revengeance, and apart from that it looks like business as usual for Platinum games. I don't think I saw any blocking or parrying going on, but that might just be an unlockable.

There seems to be a parry here, both for the player and the enemy. Given that it seems to lead straight into the piledriver It's probably an unlockable like Witch Time in W101.

Ah yep, you're right. Looks just like the Bayo/W101 parry with a more Transformers-y visual effect. I'm hoping they'll go back to that stick-towards-enemy control input for the parry, because I found the plain old button press in Korra made things a little too easy for my liking.
