Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

So, one thing I have been wondering about. Will this game have any trouble with streaming on twitch?

The official answer is "stay tuned", but I can't imagine them getting away with that. Silly licensing rules... Don't want anyone listening to free music on twitch, you know...

But they've been pulling off the unexpected so far...

No I understand that you can actually voice chat technically. I mean it's not an effective way of playing the game.

It's always worked just fine for me. I'll often play the game whilst chatting with my friends. Just like any other game. I'm not sure what part of that you feel is "ineffective".

You do need to be aware of how loud you have you speakers cranked up. Again, just like any other online game. I'll occasionally have to yell at one of my friends because his game audio is bleeding into chat too much. I'll often wear headphones so I can have my music as loud as I want.

I do think RB is best when playing with multiple people in the same room. But since all of my RB friends live a couple thousand miles away, it's nice to have an online option as well.

Maybe I'll pick this up! I still have all my guitar hero 2 and rock band (1) stuff kicking around so might as well make use of it!

That's a great question and I'm not entirely sure. They are requested often, though, for sure. And we have a lot of fans in-house. :)

Reel Big Fish was one of the most requested bands way back in the RB3-era.

Throw the ska-heads a bone here : (

Edit: That said, this update was fantastic and a huge swing from the first announcement which was pretty bland

Just watched that new YouTube video showing so new songs.

It's probably been mentioned, but I think the HO/PO notes don't look distinct enough from the regular notes.

not sure if trolling or legitimately this stupid...

He's half correct......score hero bands were huge and a big reason why I played rock band 2 and 3. Other than that it was mostly me everyday playing an instrument. Gets kind of boring. I guess party chat will help this time around till they implement it in.

But we seriously need breakneck speed.....that right there is the fucking deal breaker.

New setlist songs have been announced:

Good list for the most part. Really want to see more St Vincent-ish stuff though. Classic stuff is awesome and (most of those) are great songs but it's the modern (ie last 10 years or so) indie stuff that RB's track list has always been a bit weak on. That's probably blasphemy to a lot of people though lol.

Agree 100%. would be a really great way for indie bands to get exposure, you'd think indie labels would be on board.

Ugh, I don't know what to do, I've been thinking about RB4 over the past few hours and this game has nothing that really appeals to me, I exclusively play online, I use a e-drum set etc (and not going back to stock kit after having 5 die on my already) and can't get the 4 amazon pre order songs.

It sucks, because I love RB, and play it pretty much daily, but at the same time, it's missing alot of things key to my RB experience, I want to buy it to support the series, but I also don't want to support the lack of e-kits etc, maybe i'll just buy some RBN stuff (Own all DLCs), but at the same time, then i'm still not really supporting Harmonix.

Honestly, given that Mad Catz's future seems to be hedged entirely on RB4 being a success, this seems to be a game where buying it actually matters.

Agreed. My local friends all work odd hours which makes it impossible to sync up to have a in person session but between them and my online friends we'd often be able to coordinate online. Combine that with the fact I play Rocksmith to get my single player music game fix there's no real value for me here considering I'd have to buy all new intstruments due to switching from 360->PS4. Sorry Harmonix but Rock Band 3 ticks the boxes Rock Band 4 doesn't and I already own it. And sorry MadCatz but you never should've tied your fate to the success of the 4th game in series who's glory days are long over.

Yeah, that concerns me, at the same time, it's a risk to buy and then midi support never happening, basically leaving the game unplayed, and i'm worried that if I buy it anyways, it will send the message of "pro drummers will just buy anyways", I'll probably be more tempted if I can get those 4 amazon songs somehow, it's infuriating to know i'd have to downgrade to the stock kit which will only last me a few month though...

Yeah, it's not a option playing locally for me, and even when I do have a full local band, there are tons of songs that get ignored etc because they don't appeal to us, online play really makes me notice some of those songs that have just sat on my hard drive for years, i'd be fine with single player support if it had MIDI support but without it, i just can't see a reason to "upgrade". Really puts me in a tough spot as a long term fan of the series and a fan of harmonix since Frequency, I think i've bought most of their main titles since then.

There's no way those pre-order songs won't be available separately later.

I know. It makes me nervous. I have old stuff, but will probably pick up a new bundle, hopefully bundled with a digital copy. The investment is easily worth the hours of enjoyment this game brings. Harmonix is also a developer I trust, so I believe they understand the players and are doing everything they can. I see buying in early kind of like a Kickstarter in that regard.

I really need BNS and practice mode confirmed before launch, but my pre order stays. I don't pay for Gold or PS+ anyway, though lack of online (for now) sucks.

Setlist looks great. Metropolis is this game's Freebird or GGAHT unless they have another long, epic track for a finale.

This honestly has me very worried about this game. Both Harmonix and Mad Catz seem to be going all in on an incredibly feature-light version of Rock Band. They are taking a huge risk which could very easily blow up in their faces. The worst part is, I can't even really support them since the game isn't releasing on a platform that I own.

I just hope Rock Band can survive long enough to eventually come to Wii U/NX.

So with all the Madcatz drama shit, is there a chance that this may not come out with plastic guitars and shit? Because I need a guitar minimum.

Is there something beyond them needing to secure additional funding? Because the whole reason they're doing that is to ensure they can get Rock Band 4 out the door.

But maybe pre-order if you want a band bundle.

There's guitar bundles available from Madcatz right now. Unless they (Madcatz) go under before the game comes out, you should be able to get a guitar at the very least.

So Wikipedia sys that Korn and Slipknot are confirmed for the setlist but I'm not seeing anything else about this elsewhere.

Avenged sevenfold, korn and slipknot? Wtf. That's some horrendous shit

Rhythm games with partially announced setlists are huge targets for Wikipedia vandalism. Be very skeptical when looking at Wikipedia for info like this.

What are the chances we'll get Dude Looks Like A Lady now? Slim to none, right?

On the RB4 disc? Zero. As DLC later on? Probably decent since they were able to license Aerosmith as DLC for RB3 and now again for RB4 disc.

I really hope Slipknot get some new songs in RB4. Saw them at Download Festival last month and I'm completely in love with Killpop. Brilliant song.

1) Need confirmation on Breakneck speed and individual track speed. Nothing else is of higher importance right now.

2) I Need to buy the game and 3 of the dongles. Need pricing and preorder info on that.

Then I have to buy a XBone.

The quicker we get this info the quicker I can save the economy!

I need Billy Talent, Protest the Hero, Poison the Well, Hands Like Houses and Alexisonfire.

They'll never happen though ):

PTH appeared in a GH game though, so theres a chance for them, maybe.

Playing some RB3 and man, Living in America is a fun song to play on keys and vox, despite not being particularly hard for either. It makes me sad that at launch we definitely won't have keys (or likely at all) and probably (definitely?) won't have the RB3 songs in RB4.

But on the other hand, I hadn't heard that song before the game came out and I love it, so I hope RB4 has lots of songs like that, that I don't know but can get into for how fun they are in game.

It was my understanding that you will only need to buy one dongle to connect the wireless XBox 360 instruments to the XBox One. Or are you saying you have wired instruments? Wired instruments have NOT been confirmed to work with RB4. At least at launch anyway.

Wireless instruments only. If we only need one dongle for three instruments that would be awesome! But again, we just don't know yet. October 6 isn't that far away....

This is probably one of my favorite things about these games. I love finding new good stuff. Hell, I was one of six people who liked "Antibodies".

I'd absolutely love to see one PTH song here, Bury the hatchet was easily one of the funnest GH songs. Their instrumentals and vocals both are a blast to play. Here's hoping.

Quick question: if I transfer all my songs and DLC (or redownload them for that matter) to Rock Band 4 on PS4, will I still be able to play all of 'em on RB3 for PS3?

Perhaps not the thread to ask but I don't know if this is affecting RB3 users too....and this is the most active thread.

But the Rock Band Central severs are down for Blitz and it pretty much makes the game useless. You can't buy songs, you can't use power ups, it doesn't save your high scores or progress, you can't earn coins and it doesn't save your control settings between songs if you've altered them.

It's pretty damn broke. Just googled and see a few people complaining on their official forums. Apparently it has been down for over a week. Pretty damn annoying and scary.

I could see them releasing The Devil In I or maybe custer.

And yeah, saw them at Download as well. Lovely weather wasn't it?

They are moving their offices, so things are out of whack.
