I love the fact that DC isn't going with a cartoony look to their films. There's something very compelling about seeing these comic characters existing in a world that seems real.

And at the same time it doesn't look boring like Nolan's. There was basically nothing left in Nolan's, it was just people in costumes, kinda closer to the new James Bond movies than the comics.

So if DC ever had a chance to be on par with Marvel, BvS and this is it, and personally I never liked ANY of the Marvel movies, but these two look interesting enough, although the Wonder Woman/Aquaman stuff is probably going to be too much or me (just because they seem shoehorned, not because of what they represent).

I don't know anything about Suicide Squad, but I've always wanted Harley Quinn and Joker in a movie. After watching this I have no doubt it's going to deliver.

Very fitting. As this version of the Joker looks like someone who just escaped from a maximum security insane asylum more than any Joker we have had yet, in my opinion.

On a side note, try to imagine this face in a Joker style hat and it fits even more.

I think it looks good. DC really does have an opportunity to differentiate themselves from making formulaic films. When is Suicide Squad supposed to take place in the DCCU anyway? I would think it has to be after MoS but will it be before or after BvS? Unless it takes place years and years before MoS (which is interesting because I think casting Ben Affleck as an "older" Batman still makes it possible to make younger Batman films since Affleck doesn't look old).

I disagree. The scars cut into the side of Ledger Joker's mouth, along with the slapdash makeup job, made him look like an absolute lunatic.

The biggest improvement is the original reveal of the Joker to the onscreen footage.

Leto's Joker already seems incredible. His delivery in just that tiny 10 second clip is incredible. Haunting even. Not suprising considering the level of talent that Leto is.

Harley seems terrible to me so far. But we'll see.

Will Smith hasn't had a major hit since (looks at IMDB)... Hitch. SS makes perfect sense for him. Get on the comic book train, fairly easy paycheck. Doesn't have to carry the movie on his own. Deadshot has major crossover potential with Batman/JL and I'm sure he has an option for a sequel if this does well.

Back when Wesley Snipes was popular he didnt have his name in the credits or promos for Waiting to Exhale. This isnt the same thing but stars can take a back seat if they need, want or have to. Look at the many movies that ppl win awards for that dont make alot at the box office, might have a smallish budget. Some do it for the role.

Like some others said....his last few movies may have humbled him.

Speaking of which....how many ppl balked at the idea of Heath Ledger as Joker or Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man? The last decent movie I saw Robert Downey in before Iron Man was Less Than Zero..unless its some other decent movie I forgot about. I think that was in the 80's. He was on the verge of being a Hollywood failure story like some others. He made a hell of a comeback. EDIT: Looking at IMDB...he was in some decent movies since the 80's...lol. Less Than Zero just stands out for some reason.

My guess is that the Joker and Batman scenes are going to be used strictly for Harley's backstory. Joker may be the central antagonist of the film, but he's not on the team.

this was just answered in this page, no joker is not part of the squad, and no he is not fighting crime.
