I want this... I picked up the Collectors Edition because MGS is my favourite series of all time. Unfortunately our steel book in the states isn't going to look nearly as cool. Maybe I'll try to buy this case off someone.

I can imagine, if MGSV doesn't sell to whatever multi million copy expectation, Konami put a spin on it and use it to justify their decision of getting rid of Kojima and pinning the blame on him.

MGS is, like, the most prolific series to be tied to its creator's name.
I think it really says a lot that Konami would rather take the cheap "ah-ha!" of deleting his name from materials than they would to ride the ability to have his name grace one of their products one final time.
Unless, maybe, they're hoping that by taking his name off things will make people forget how much he had to do with Phantom Pain's development so that they're be more "open" to the idea of future Kojima-less Metal Gears.
Either way, it's really petty and really gross.

I actually like it too. The colours are great and it just "pops" to me. I don't know if I'd say it's the best this gen for me, but I don't see why that's an invalid opinion to have. But I guess this is the Internet and we have to jump on people for having an opinion.
I would of course prefer the Shinkawa art, but it is what it is (And to nitpick, the Shinkawa art is "just a dude's face" too, really

Kojima and his team poured their heart and soul into this game. So much that it ultimately got them fired.
Don't punish them for Konami's bullshit. I agree it feels bad giving Konami money, but ultimately it's Kojima Productions and they deserve every sale.

It's a horrid box even if it had "A Hideo Kojima game" and the KojiPro logo. Why place such an emphasis on facial expressions then have your number one keyart be the most bland expression shown? And topped off with a cheap overlay to boot. I'm making my own, no two ways about it.

Yup. Plus, the only games they'll be making in the next few years are PES and MGS by other teams, not interested in any of that, goodbye Konami, you started great, but you overstayed your welcome, corrupted.
My only joy from all this mess is that Hideo is not leaving the gaming industry. Maybe metal gear is over but this guy makes awesome scifi games. Literally some of the best.

I think Kojima saw this fallout coming, it was just a matter of time until this vulcano broke out. There is stuff in MGSV like the logos erasing that just can't be coincidence, he somehow foreshadowed it, otherwise it would make no sense to have the team credited every single time you start a new mission. I'm curious if there is more stuff like this hidden as easter eggs, can't wait to find out.
Kojima is such a genius, it would be a huge loss if he would leave this industry.

Oh my lord. I think you're putting way too much faith into pure coincidence. This game has been in development for 5 years, has tons upon tons of missions, something like him putting credits into every mission isn't some sort of prophetic inclusion. It's merely a design decision trying to emulate tv.

This is just speculation on my part, but I imagine that Konami's US employees aren't too happy with what's happening. The company's "new course" pretty much spells downsizing for the western subsidiaries.
