How many times do you see either character in tournament, even in pools?

Tournament usage isn't a metric of popularity, but of balance.
Is Ryu unpopular because no one played him in 3S? Is Chun not popular even though she rarely shows in SF4 tournaments?

It's likely to be a new character, a good guess is a Maori New Zealander to go with the NZ stage.

When someone comes in saying 'omg the female characters I hate are rubbish and people only like them because they're female' I feel it speaks volumes more about the person than the characters in question because apparently they can't possibly imagine the roster entries appealing to anyone on any other level than sexuality. I don't understand why people like Alex, should I automatically assume everyone who does wants to jump his bones? I don't think that would be a very intelligent line of reasoning personally :/
In the Ken reveal thread we came to this conclusion as well, with him possibly being inspired by both Maori culture and All Blacks Rugby players. Hope we'll hear more at Evo in a few days.
You know, I actually wouldn't mind seeing him return to V now that I think about it. I always liked his design quite a bit because of how "out there" it is compared to someone like Ryu or Makoto (which makes him III's version of Blanka in a way). His morphing body would look cool in V's engine as well I think.

I think Dhalsim will keep his ability to choose between far and close buttons -SFV doesn't have close buttons- and his hurt boxes will be shorter than his limbs, or maybe his limbs hurtboxes will retreat faster, so you have a harder time punishing him...and that be it? Prolly some multi hit specials for some good combos once he gets close in.
For Sak... when Humanbomb and Chris G play..... so the last two majors in CEO and SEAM.....

Juri I can coincide to. But Sakura is a popular character in competitive SF4. I'm not sure where that's coming from.

They can't bring Abel back otherwise there'd be too many blondies in the game, if we assume Alex is a lock.
I main Guy in USFIV and I think it's fair to say that there's like a 5 percent chance he'll be in the game at launch. He's just not a popular enough character. I feel like he would maybe be a DLC character down the road though. I'm excited for the return of other Alpha characters and the brand new ones.

Yeah, I had him as a main too, at least before I stopped playing shortly after USFIV came out (and got a job), and he, as a character, and his playstyle really resonated with me. Ken looks fun, but I don't really want to play as him. Bummer.
The only time I will fully support DLC!

I think Haggar isn't likely since he was in MvC3 and that seemed to be a lucky break kind of thing. Maki would make a great addition to SF V though.

Still, good to have some confirmation that new reveals are 100% happening at EVO. Not that there was a huge doubt but now there's none :3
Again, selfishly hoping they'll show more than maori-kun or at least tease something. I'm kind of on the edge of my seat for some kind of Mika confirm plus I'm constantly bouncing between hope and dread about any potential redesign for her XD

BTW don't put too much stock in these comics as they may not necessarily reveal characters unless...an issue drops early before a reveal :V

Yeah, the SFxT comics had Ingrid in it even though she wasn't even mentioned in the actual game
Humanbomb, Chris G and Uryo always do well woth Sakura and Momochi pulled out his Juri fairly often until this year. Tons of Sakura's in tournaments and online. Juri has a few good players who don't travel very much too.

I still think they would do a reveal before USF4 on Sunday. That will have over 100k viewers watching and would be great advertisement. So possibly 2 reveals if they do reveal something at the panel.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree. Probably Maori-kun for the panel and either another reveal or at least a tease for the Sunday is my suspicion.

Not to hyped about this potential character tbqh. I wish he were more handsome like those real life Maori Rugby dudes. Also if his play style is around Rugby it might be kinda lame. I'm more hyped for the character teased at the end of his trailer, if there is one. If there isn't one then I'm gonna assume the next reveal will have two characters.

Heh, I'm not really interested in Maori-kun either in all honesty ^.^;
Again, assuming Maori-kun is what they'll reveal at the panel so they have time to go over what he can do and stuff, one thing they might do that'd be interesting is have a teaser at the end of the panel for someone else BUT also couple it with saying that they'll be doing a reveal on Sunday. It'd be a way of building some suspense and making sure people tune in :3

I think he could be cool. If Blanka isn't in this I can see him being kind of a hybrid like Necro was with Dhalsim and Blanka.
Maybe he'll have some rolling air ball attacks and some good throws like Zangief or something.
