This (gawker) is the site that calls reddit homophobic and doxing bad, right?

The irony is astounding.

You know you've fucked up when even the comments section, which I've noticed in the past is usually on Gawker's side, calls you out on this bullshit.

Really hope there are serious consequences for this. Gawker is punishing and humiliating a guy and his family because he didn't give in to blackmail and abuse his position.

So let me get this straight

- Guy plans to cheats on his wife with gay escort
- Escort blackmails him into unethical conduct
- Guy refuses
- Escort follows through on blackmail threat by sending information to journalists
- Journalists throw it straight up onto the internet

Gawker what the fuck are you thinking?

I don't....what the fuck? I read it, waiting for the guy hiring the escort to do something really scummy and it never came

What the fuck? Hope that escort gets revealed and is outta work. Jesus.

He says he has an iPhone, and it's an iPhone screenshot, so why no iMessage? Everyone I message reverts automatically to iMessage if it can. Just an observation.

If Gawker will always do this then maybe the company shouldn't exist then.

It's almost like it didn't even occur to them that there are other ways of informing his wife that he tried to cheat on her

Well yeah, this is pretty clearly about money

Saw this earlier, what complete absolute fucking garbage.

I read it thinking the guy was going to end up as some incredible dbag who was up to some shady shit, but the guy did nothing. He actually refuses to abuse his family's power in the face of blackmail.

And gawker (with no evidence of any such corrupt actions from the guy) just completely outs him WHILE protecting the escort's identity! The same escort who by their own admission seems unhinged.

WTF

Hope they get sued to oblivion.

I don't ever want to see an article about ethics on any site owned by Gawker ever again even if it is under a different editorial team.

Different branches of the same shitty trunk and it would be the most hypocritical thing, to the point if farce.

I had to see it for myself. Didn't read it all but it is amazingly long and detailed. Thought it was just maybe a casual blurb that wasn't thought out but multiple people had to spend hours on this and nobody said "hey maybe this is not a good idea".

No more Gawker media for me.

Just a scummy company from top to bottom. I always found it odd that people like Klepeck and others would choose to work for them, but I guess money talks.

Don't click on the link. Don't share the link. Don't talk about this unless it is in reference to telling other people other people not to talk about it.
