Ono always teases with the Blanka figurine.
Some people assume Ono is going to shoehorn Blanka into this, but I remember reading somewhere that Blanka isn’t even Ono’s favorite character. He just became “the Blanka guy” after he started carrying a Blanka figure with him everywhere, and that led to cosplaying as Blanka.

People view him as a gimmicky character.
A lot of people seem to be sick of the SF2 cast as they are pretty much in everything other than SF3 series (Chun Li and Akuma being the exceptions to that).
Most people want to see new characters in the game. The world warriors have been used as starters in each entry of the series long enough.

There was nothing badass about SFII Blanka outside of ability to speak English. Hit him and seen his response animation.

Blanka was goofy in SF2 but a more "serious" version of it, if that makes sense. Just look at his ST portrait. They kinda went all out in SF4. Dee-Jay is the same instance. He felt like a confident and rhythmic fighter with a cocky grin in SF2. In SF4 he just became obnoxious. I feel like 3rd Strike nailed the "tone" of Street Fighter the best.
Gah. Eagle's the only character of worth from the original game; why can't he make a comeback?
I'm assuming this is a joke, but I can't remember this; is it confirmed (Well, leak-confirmed) that the Brazilian character's named Laura?
My money is on this all being for the guy from the SDCC trailer/the New Zealand guy, though. I can't wait to see how he'll play!

Yup alpha and 3s did it the best. SF4 just made everyone goofy or some kind of anime trope with no other characteristics.
Looking at guys win quotes in alpha he just had alot more character than a dull goody goody ninja.

All eight World Warriors are iconic, but there isn't enough room for them all on the base SFV roster. Blanka and E. Honda are definitely the most expendable of the bunch.

Yah I don't get the Geki love/want. Vega is basically a version of Geki. At least when Capcom brought back Eagle they made him a more unique character... I suppose they could give Geki dual claws to make him more "unique".

He was badass. The white eyes, the teeth, his heavy breathing idle animation, his pre-SSF2 sound effects (his win pose growl was great) and the blood some of his attacks produced (most sorely missed on his SF4 head chomp). I loved his look back then
I played SF2 a lot back in the day and never saw him as goofy. His dumb looking ground slide didnt show up until SSF2 IIRC. He got a shitty voice change then too. I also remember his eyes would bulge out of his head when he got hit in SF2, but he already had so much mean-ness to his look, it didnt bother me (I actually liked that animation TBH).
Now he scratches his ass, slides on the ground, produces no blood from formerly savage attacks and wears stupid costumes. He is not the Blanka I grew up loving.
Oh yeah he did have them in one of them, didn't come to mind. It's more that a sword would likely have a ton of range then weapons being unheard of in SF, but I guess they would make that work if they really wanted to.
