I'd be very surprised if the EVO reveal is Vega. He's an awesome character but I'm not sure he's that popular. Given that EVO is the biggest tournament I'd imagine Capcom would want to generate the most hype. In this case, that'd mean one of Alex, Urien, Karin, Akuma, or a new character that looks awesome.
I want it to be Wolverine so bad, but it could be Claw...
Or someone new!

He's a gimmicky character that in SF4 relied on playing lame and annoying, with a dumb crouching hit box. He was like a worse El Feurte (his Ultra was basically a roll the dice ultra for 400 damage). His design is extremely goofy and dumb in SF4 and in general he feels like an amalgam of random attacks. Capcom should just redo a monster character that isn't so goofy.
Yeah that is exactly what came to mind when I typed out "I guess they would make that work if they really wanted to."

First two SF3 Games she was out to collect information Gill and his plans. 3S she wanted to lead a normal life and go to university. She got played.
He was badass. The white eyes, the teeth, his heavy breathing idle animation, his pre-SSF2 sound effects (his win pose growl was great) and the blood some of his attacks produced (most sorely missed on his SF4 head chomp). I loved his look back then
I played SF2 a lot back in the day and never saw him as goofy. His dumb looking ground slide didnt show up until SSF2 IIRC. He got a shitty voice change then too. I also remember his eyes would bulge out of his head when he got hit in SF2, but he already had so much mean-ness to his look, it didnt bother me (I actually liked that animation TBH).
Now he scratches his ass, slides on the ground, produces no blood from formerly savage attacks and wears stupid costumes. He is not the Blanka I grew up loving.
What about his eyes popping out when hit with a Beavis like expression and dancing around when stunned holding his head?
I cannot imagine Jimmy ever being badass.

Some of the animations were goofy but he came off that way to me when SF2 came out. Maybe it was because I was a kid back then.
He definitely got made a lot goofier as the series progressed, but I don't really have an issue with that.
I'm more than happy to see him in SF5 if they make him less annoying to play against.

Blanka! I really hope he gets a totally revamped moveset.
I think I read something about him being killed off in one of the comics, but I don;t think they ever mentioned him in any of the other games. There is a really subtle vague hint that he might have trained Vega, I think that's very loose (If even intended) and the only connection he has to anyone else that I'm aware of.
According to the Street Fighter wiki, the UDON comics made Geki a clan of ninjas, so the one that Gen killed was just a random member.
Heck, the one in SF1 is probably a random member too. Who knows.

While the new pic is exciting because it's the first tease we've got in a while, I'm getting nothing from it. Most I can assume is new character or redesigned blanka like everyone else.

Not gonna lie... I'm not actually expecting a reveal that's going to be all that hype for me, but dear heck if it's somehow blanka I'll be salty
edit: no offence intended to any Blanka fans: I'm just really hoping for someone not from the original 8 because i could use something a bit more exciting than a repeat of the Ken reveal

I don't think they will reveal Blanka before the Brazil game show. Not to say he'll be revealed there but if he's actually trolling people with it, revealing it early will ruin that.

edit: actually, I take it back. The only remaining leak roster is now disproven (had 18 characters total, actual roster according to capcom is 16)
this means the only things left to play with are the 4 newcomers from Ken Bogard (the number matches up and he's been 100% right so far) aaaaand siliconera saying we've got R.Mika, Karin, Alex and Urien (no proof either way on these 4, though siliconera has been correct on a bunch of stuff in the past regarding other stuff including the FF7 remake and something else that i forget all the time that was kind of big)

That's what we said when SF4 was being announced.
Generally speaking, capcom tends to like to group characters by their game of origin. Alpha section could easily be R. Mika and Karin. Again though, it could also be new returning characters in the form of alex and urien.
Let's just say I've seen this movie before.

But Birdie, Ryu, and Ken all originated in SF1.
