Despite wanting more female characters to play, I don't think 50/50 parity is really necessary. All that's really important, as far as I believe, is a diverse enough set of choices to cover an adequete number of people's tastes :3
It wouldn't really add anything if we had 50/50 gender split if all the females were just different takes on Chun-li for example (Hence my angst that most female characters tend to just end up being variants of the 'speed' type)

I have never understood the infatuation with R Mika. Her design and play style came across more like a parody character almost more so than Dan.

She's really fun to play; her appearance has nothing to do with in in my case.

She could look like Danny Devito and I'd still main her if she kept her moveset and personality.

I didn't like them as a whole but I don't think the game was any worse for having them.

Blanka is basically a mutated human. Seems kind of odd to consider Jimmy to be a genderless monster.

T-Hawk will get added, prolly within the first year and a half or so.

I'd say he's pretty clearly a male monster though, not only from standard sexual identifiers like the pitch of voice and general body composition but also the simple fact his real name is 'Jimmy' and all official text on him are crawling with male descriptors such as 'he', 'him' and whatnot

I mean... would you consider these just 'monsters' or would you still attach a sex/gender to them?

It's kind of like Transformers: they're robots so in theory they shouldn't really have a 'sex' and gender should be fairly meaningless but they still give them obviously male voices, body structures and then stick in a smaller pink robot as 'the token girl' (if we're talking about G1 of course, Arcee got badassery upgrades in the more modern ones )

I'm all for androgyny/non-gendered characters, but let's not pretend that most characters aren't sexed/gendered just because they look a little different

It's funny to me when people say, "I don't understand why people enjoy XYZ character."

Like they can't conceive it in their puny little minds that somebody would enjoy and have opinions different from those they have. How can you not understand that people like different things? It's really that simple.

I LIKE Mika's design. I loved her normals. They were meaty as fuck. I love that she had more mobility and speed than a regular grappler. And how can you hate on somebody THAT SUMMONS A WRESTLING RING?
