If it's not delayed, I'd say March at the latest. Didn't TR2013 come out in March? Beyond that it falls into Spring 2016.

I was going to pick it up on X1 in November, but the announcement has changed my plans. PC it is.

Did they say winter? I thought the only estimate was 'early 2016'. May would be a bit of a stretch but it seems like when stuff is worded this way it is always later than you assume. Like they say Releasing summer 2015 and then put it out in late September, which is fall to me. Seems like that happens a lot.

It is weird to have a date for the ps4 release but only an estimate window for the PC release that is launching earlier...

$60 is universal. If you only have $60 to spend you are probably going to get the one that appeals to you more and that is going to be Fallout 4 for a large majority of people.

Yep. I mean, in my eyes, I'll pick it up when it pops up for sale on Amazon or Best Buy in early 2016 when historically the releases are less packed together.

SE and MS probably had to sit down and negotiate this, and MS probably pushed for a full 1 year of exclusivity instead of it coming to PS4 alongside the PC version.

Not sure how they were okay with SE announcing it so soon though. Usually publishers wait until a game is released before announcing more platforms in times exclusivity situations.

I wonder if announcing before has a stronger negative effect than the positive effect of the longer window. As a consumer I'm not sure which is worse but I do wish they were always upfront about this so I think I prefer it this way.

Exactly. Microsoft needs to indulge in a little more straight talk and a little less creative comma usage.

The end result is the same: Microsoft gets a nice timed exclusive for 2015. The difference is there would be less speculation, less bitterness and the actual official announcement wouldn't be met with such disdain.

Playstation owners are mostly JPRG fans, while Xbox owners are after western modern games.

Too many other games coming out before then for me to care, tbh. Tomb Raider looked awful at E3. If it's good enough at release, I'll buy at a heavily discounted price. Full price or anything over $20 gets no chance from me.

They said on the conference that it was coming first to ps4. They never said console exclusive or anything like that which is why people assume it will come to xb1. But the game is probably not coming until 2018 or 19 so who the fuck even knows? It might be on the XBTwo by then.

Well, but X360/Ps3 is a very different situation. The 360 was ahead of the PS3 the whole generation.

When FF13 launched the X360 had more than 70 million consoles sold.....If FF15 launch next year i doubt that X1 will have at least half of this number.

And the JRPG situation on X1 is very poor when compared to X360.

Do you realize how much two million in sales likely generates in income compared to the cost of porting? It probably only takes a few hundred thousand at most to make it worthwhile. If that.

I realize that there's a bigger differential this time around, but it's not so dramatic that a mega game like FFXV is going to go ignored. Again, you're buying way too much into platform stereotypes. Both PS4 *and* XB1 are selling at better rates than their predecessors. There will be a larger install base on release of this game than with FFXIII for either system.

Was going to wait for ps4 but will likely get for PC with such an early release.

Im new to the pc world but when there are console exclusives that also make it to pc do they typically sell well on pc as a result of the other console not getting it?

Seems obvious that it goes that way, lots of PS4 owners have a gaming PC too, and why wait if you don't have to?
The choice is harder if you have an XB1 too. Framerate vs comfort. I usually use the PC for multiplats and the consoles for the true exclusives, but I only have the consoles setup in the home theater so when the framerate is good enough I usually get the console version. I think Digital Foundry will have to make the choice for me this time.

Its hard to say. I would normally expect a ps3 version, but given the difficulties in porting to that system they might just skip it.

While I agree in principle it's also the case tat some "what ifs..." are a lot more likely than others.

It's more likely on recent form U4 will be the better game is argue, and by a fair bit.

On another point isn't it odd to announce this info before XB1 is out? SE getting cold feet and wanting to assure other platform holders it really is coming?
