Load balancer + IP + ... sort of scummy decision to prioritise somebody over everybody else.

Well they can, just in a limited number. So you don't really have to think too hard about how.

At least day 1 you'd be able to play locally/training mode at will.

I haven't even attempted to get on the beta yet, at this point I don't know that I'm going to even bother with this phase :/

Not entirely convinced considering they had the option of keeping the training mode portion offline and just locking the app down after the beta was over. They're locking everything behind the log in service, I guarantee it. And it's gonna be on fire on day 1.

edit: i can't guarantee it of course, but i know capcpom is dumb enough to make that decision honestly

They're trying to fix it while communicating what's going on and stating that the beta will be extended. I'm frustrated that I can't play but it's whatever.
