Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

Someone earlier in the thread suggested more 90s songs and man, I'm on board with that. I do bass and vocals, and when it's a song I know, I like to do both at the same time but there are only currently about 20~ songs where I can pull it off and 90s songs are ideal for that. Classic rock can be good for it, too.

...but real talk, I will take new Rock Band any way it comes with no complaints (unless shit is broken, and then no promises).

eta:
YUP. And they're great. I'm glad they're back. The audience will also shout requests when you're playing in "Shows" mode (in between songs). It's preeeeety great.

OH MY GOD WHAT

Every time I see this thread bumped I get excited thinking they might have announced some new tracks.

We're about two months away, they need to start revealing more soon, right?
They have announced 23 so far and there is "over 60" on the setlist so around 40 more to go. We are a little over 2 months (9 weeks to be a little more precise) from release. I hope they would drop like 10 more songs every 2 weeks so we can get more content every so often starting with Gamescom next week. We know one of the remaining tracks is Everybody Talks by Neon Trees because of this found in the screenshots of the RB4 XBox One page.

Glad to hear crowd singalongs are in. I loved them in RB1 songs. At what point did they stop including them in songs? Was it in all DLC that came out before RB2 or what?

A lot of my picks are already in the game via DLC but give me
Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God
Five Finger Death Punch - Bad Company (cover or the original would also make me happy)
Metallica - Trapped under Ice (or Creeping Death) hopefully Activision's exclusivity is done.
Muse - Plug In Baby (obligatory Muse vote)
Dethklok - The Gears

With Breakneck Speed in the game I feel that we should next move onto asking for other, important things.

Will every song be really be playable in RB4? Really? Black Hole Sun and Dani California weren't available in RB3 until a patch was released while Rock 'n' Roll Star and Hier kommt Alex weren't playable on Rock Band 3 and Blitz at all. The former wasn't even taken off the store for download. Could that happen for any other songs in RB4?

I'm maybe one of the biggest Rock Band fans in the world... I have almost 3000 songs and played RB3 on pro drums for more than 1200 hours. And I'm number 1 on the career leaderboard of RB Blitz.

I can't believe Harmonix put so little effort on the ION Drums situation and gave up on it as if it didn't matter. No ION compatibility means the end of rock band for me. I can't even buy new drums... I live in Ecuador and we have new laws about importing so it is impossible to bring something so big now. Also... I paid more than $600 (fees included) to bring my ION drums here and now I'm devastated to read that they are not being supported now.

Even if I could, I would not go back to plastic drums. Even if they were better than the former ones... Everybody knows that in a few weeks we will be putting socks around them anyway. They simply can't stand hardcore playing.

I'm really sad and I really wish that this nice HMX publicist who is here can at least address the situation.

RB will always be my favorite video game experience of all time. This really hurts.

I snuck some video of someone recording some of the crowd VO a few weeks back. This one person did it for every song. Even DLC. It was intense.

the warrior.....only band I know of that did that was Patty Smyth and Scandal....great song.

If the first thing I hear isn't "Play Free Bird", I'm gonna be kinda disappointed.

Edit: And I don't even care that the song is on RB3 so we won't be able to play it. I just want to hear someone say it.

So how can I get a hold of this in Australia? The website just redirects me to Amazon.com.

Is there not a EU/PAL edition coming out? Am I hopelessly blind?

Harmonix haven't answered any questions regarding an Australian release, which is really bullshit. I get that MadCatz accessories have some complications distributing in Australia but at least some communication would be nice. I pressed a few Harmonix team members at E3 and they had no idea whatsoever.

I'd like to support the game and add to it's success but they're not making it easy for me.

So I'm going to have to go Digital? Is it releasing digital?

I hope they release the cymbals pack for the RB drums and we can somehow use our old first gen rock band drums too.

Have they said if the new guitars still auto calibrate?

That was by far the greatest invention ever for any music genre was the fact that I could hit a button and show the guitar the TV and have it calibrate everything.....was fucking awesome.

I thought I saw a video where someone from MadCatz said there was auto-calibration, but I can't seem to find it.

hype keeps slowly rising.....whats the news for online quickplay? I could careless about touring online, but at least quickplay!

There is no online multiplayer in Rockband 4 period. They said they may add that sometime after it launches (they want this to be the type of game they add features to after it launches rather than getting sequels and stuff).

well figured he might have a time table....like Q1 or something lol. But its seriously a heart breaker knowing I can't play with Gaffers on launch day :(

also fixed your quote

I'm still debating on getting the band kit, or using the instruments I have (ps3 to ps4 like a smart guy here)

I DO only have 1 guitar but it's a guitar hero guitar (I dont play that shit and the friend who does likes the click)

band kit does NOT come with the cymbals, right? I have those for my current drums, so I might get the band kit and just transfer them over

my 5 songs (taste is kinda all over the place)

if any of these bands even make it I dont care what song it is

Twenty One Pilots - Lovely (I dont care that the band is only a vocalist, keyboard, drummer, and computer. give them to me dammit)
Lydia - Now the One you Once Loved is Leaving
The Front Bottoms - Maps
The Antlers - Sylvia
Norma Jean - Memphis will be laid to waste

There will be a standalone cymbal pack, but these new cymbals actually have new (better tech) that will only work with the new drum kit. That said, old cymbals will also work on new kits (but new cymbals will not work on old kits).

Nicholas, since you mentioned crowd singalongs are in, you also said DLC crowd singalongs. Is the DLC crowd singalongs for future RB4 releases or did you guys go back and add them to previous DLC? There was some really good DLC tracks for RB3 that needed some!

Also, the cutoff for your 5 pack of songs I will make the end of today. I have another idea for this weekend to add to the playlist.

Motion City Soundtrack - Future Freaks Me Out

Motion City Soundtrack - Everything is alright

Motion City Soundtrack - This is For Real

Motion City Soundtrack - Better Open the Door

Motion City Soundtrack - Perfect Teeth

Edit: Hang on, going to edit this list because some of those songs don't have a good Vox/Guitar/Bass/Drum setup. Removed 4 other songs and just put in 4 more Motion City songs... I... I couldn't help it.

Looks like Harmonix updated their FAQ on the forums.

Not exactly sure what was there before, but is this part new?
Q: I play Rock Band with my ION Drum Kit. Will the ION Drum Kit, as well as other MIDI drum kits, be compatible with Rock Band 4?
A: The short answer is “no, not at launch.” Our first priority is to make sure that the core Rock Band legacy instruments be compatible on day one when Rock Band 4 launches – and they will be! If you want to see ION support in Rock Band 4, you can let ION Audio know by contacting them here: http://www.ionaudio.com/support/. We know that many of you play Rock Band using these peripherals, and we are actively working on finding a solution to this compatibility issue.

Seems like it's confirmed that IONs won't work at launch. Definitely disappointed if true. I really don't know what I'm going to do now. It really sucks I have to buy 3 instruments that I don't want, plus an extra $40 or $50 I'm assuming for a 3 pack of cymbals to play drums in this game. Also need to purchase an Xbox One, but can't fault Harmonix for that cost. Ugh, I hope there is news on when ION's will, if ever, be supported.

I don't know the answer to that question, honestly! I can check!

That's unfortunate. I'm going to wait until I can use them to buy the game now. I will add my voice to Ion support though to help push it along.
