Guys!

And my Chloe theory pushed to the extreme https://youtu.be/JK2vVJNDnws

wow

I take it back!

In terms of character motivation though, I'm not sold on it yet. "The art made him do it" isn't super compelling writing, to me. I like flawed "villains" like David (who I guess really was trying to do the right thing, he was just a total ass about it) a lot more than stock psychopath archetypes, but the proof is still in the pudding on this I guess.

I think people are probably overthinking Chloe's importance in this. The game isn't going to end with sentencing Chloe and (indirectly) Kate to death. Max not changing time will affect too many plot threads for them to just sew it up with "You can't change the past."

Besides we just got a big emotional mercy kill scene for her this episode. I'd hope they're not going back to that well already.

Well. Shit.

So why did Rachel Amber die? What happened to all the other girls that Jefferson used for his art?
Probably because she woke up during the action. All others were out all the time and could thus just be left alone with no memory or idea. It's not that unusual that you party too hard and can't remember how you got home or ended up on a forest road.

Also, what do you all think of Nathan's whale songs on his MP3

All I can think of is the guy's a bit disturbed and he finds it soothing? I guess the connection there would be the beached whales.

Not sure if this was talked about here in this thread, it is from Ep. 2 so its old, but I'm curious about the graffiti part, has anyone noticed any other examples of graffiti that seems to talk to Max or us the player?

Oh man, this might be it... She's really analyzed this all very well.

I like this part:
This explains why she is able to accept time travel and weird situations so easily. She subconsciously knows it already.
This felt weird to me when I started playing, because I'd be freaking the hell out if I had time rewind powers while Max was surprised and tested it out initially, but I feel like she accepted it all so easily? Same goes for some other things, like when she rewrote history. Maybe she just rolls with things that way, though.

lol

He kept telling us to enter a photo because "Max has a gift" the day we got the gift of our time powers. I don't know if this is foreshadowing him having time powers too and knowing of ours or if it's just random coincidence.

Yeah probably just a red herring, it just caught me by surprise and hadn't seen any talk of how it relates to the beached whales.

This is turning into Groundhog's Day.

Well, I guess it'd make sense since with the universe breaking down, if she saved Chloe, she's rewinding time to save herself from death.

It'd be kind of a trip if you decided to save Chloe and it loops you back to Episode 1, deleting your save file in the process.

I don't know if I'd be pissed or happy.

Damn. This game is so crazy. It was good before but its gone to great with the things they have been doing. The fan theory videos are great and seem to be right on the money. I wish I was able to see what the devs and writers were going for because now I feel I did everything all wrong. lol. Ugh. Maybe I should play from the start and go that way.

I wonder how many different ending states there are to the game though. Only a couple things will probably be a huge difference like the death of Kate. Maybe of Chloe or with Warren.

Also, I like Warren as a character much more now.

Also, Jefferson is the owl.

1) Look at them

2) He was waiting and ready in the barn and when you get to the junk yard

This was the Animorphs reboot we were waiting for.
Oh shit! That's actually a neat idea. That's how he could get to the barn without David noticing and how he gets so fast around. And he was probably at the barn because he met with Nathan, who just left (leaving the marks) a few minutes before.

This game is all full of crazy shit like this. #2, I mean.

I sorta hope there was something earlier about Jefferson's spirit animal being an owl.

This episode has some nice spooky moments. I liked the investigative parts too, kinda made me wish for a Deadly Premonition kind of game with this style.

Kinda sensed something was wrong with Mr. Jefferson at the party and the game still had to throw one big twist before the end of the episode.

The bird in Chloe's house got killed lol. I thought I would save him by keeping him inside since birds were dying all over the place outside.

Victoria believed me and Frank was fine, it was interesting to see there are 3 possible outcomes depending on how you behaved in ep 1-2.

At this point I'm really curious to see how they are going to explain all the apocalypse stuff, so far it's the biggest ? for me. Really it doesn't seem connected to the major mystery at all.

At first I immediately called off Warren. Then I thought fuck it, rewound and let him at it.

sogoood.gif.

I did the other way around. Max is saving herself for her true husbando Warren and she can't have him expelled by Nathan's money.

Oh that little prick, never trust a man with a goatee!

I don't like it how neither Max nor Chloe thought it would be a bad idea to go to the junkyard in the middle of the night, knowing there would be a dangerous person waiting there.

I think they were both counting on Max's rewind if something went wrong. Max was tense in that scene; she was definitely worried about the possibility of them both dying there from what she said to Chloe.

Max got careless. It's the first time she's been incapacitated in a way where she couldn't rewind out of trouble.

That makes sense. Yeah, I definitely didn't get that vandalism and I also didn't report Nathan for the gun.

It's because you only get it when you go into Victoria's room in episode one to find evidence against her for a thing between Dana and Zach and if you mess her own photo collection up.

I didn't mess her collection up and that message was still in my room when I got back from the showers... I also seem to remember some proof during Ep. 4 that indicated it was Nathan's doing. Either way, I think it's dependent on reporting him to the principal. I don't know to what extent that affects the texts you receive, and the one your dad receives (I imagine at this point he receives one either way).

"Alfred Hitchcock once called film little pieces of time" Idk I've heard this line a bunch of times it seems it feels like some sort of foreshadowing

Jefferson, you jabroni, what do you know...

Maybe Nathan is trapped (between some arrangement with his dad and Mr. Jefferson), like the beached whales...

Also someone theorized Nathan's dad or grandfather may also have time travel abilities, and used it to accumulate wealth... Maybe that's why those old documents and pictures were in the barn--it's a place he can depend on to stay constant.

Maybe nature gave Max the ability so she can bring balance back to the force.

Maybe Samuel is a time god who derives his power from the Tobanga and is tasked with handing the power out to balance out the force. That's why he feeds it the souls of dead birds and why Nathan tried to steal it.

Oh shit, that's right. Hm...

Samuel knows a ton of stuff, all the options you can talk to him about in Ep. 4 are important I feel. I'll go back and check them out.

Edit: Oh, and there's now a Mari video on Samuel. I'd add some other stuff too, like how he says "Oh no, you're the opposite of powerless, Max. You and Arcadia Bay are connected by time and tide".

So let's recap spirit animals here:

-Max: Doe (according to Samuel on Ep.2)
-Chloe: Blue Butterfly/Blue Jay?
-Rachel: Doe as well? It feels like the blurry doe we see was Rachel's spirit animal guiding us to her body, that is why when the girls find her, the doe rests and fades away (which gave me the chills)
-Samuel: Squirrel (according to himself on Ep.2)
-Jefferson: Owl, and it actually makes a lot of sense because there's the owl we see flying past us in the junkyard and another one in the barn where the Dark Room is. If we have seen other owls I can't remember.
-Nathan: Whale, this one may tie itself up during Ep.5, for now I'm not fully convinced.
-Warren: Go Ape!

Anything else?

I think Chloe's might be birds altogether, I mean just look at the amount of dead birds at Chloe's house. There's also an optional few scenarios at her house where you can kill a few more birds and some bird eggs with the wrong choices. It's like everything is trying to tell you that Chloe has to die but Max isn't getting the hint.

Owls are birds too.

Fair point, so yeah Chloe's must just be that specific type of bird.

On another note part of me isn't convinced that's the body of Rachel, I know there's everything with the doe but I find it strange both her and Max have the doe as their spiritual animal. Have a feeling a twist is coming in episode 5.

Yeah, they never see the face of Rachel, or any part of her really. Found it a bit weird they immediately assume its her even though they don't really see anything except a blue jacket

Either I said this in the OT or here a few pages back, but I genuinely think the bird fluttering about the Prices in episodes 1, 3 and 4 is William to keep watch (though the fact the bird appears in the alternative timeline in episode 4 whilst William is still alive is a big flaw in my theory).

I actually find it pretty believable that two 18-year-olds who have seen a photo of a girl apparently dead on a spot and find a dead body buried on that same spot assume that the body belongs to the girl in the photo. Even more believable because one of them is emotionally attached to her and there hasn't been a missing person in tons of time. Now, Nathan and Jefferson may have taken a bunch of dead birds, bury them and put Rachel's clothes on top, hence the smell and the assumption, who knows at this point, but the doe fading.....I do think it's Rachel's body.

On another topic, what do you make of the two moons? From the moment the girls get to the party to the moment they leave, two different realities collide? Well, Warren's selfie is right in the middle of that, so we may get answers during Ep.5
