Life is Strange | Spoiler Thread

I really doubt if the creepy people had that much power and membership they'd need to resort to science teachers doing petitions to keep cameras away.

Only school staff worthy of suspicion from the start for me were Jefferson and the principal. Samuel's weird; not sure what to make of him, but he gets along with the science teacher so he's probably cool.

There certainly could be more people involved in this operation, but what would the others, say the Prescotts, gain from kidnapping and photographing girls?

I stick with my Old One ritual theory. They WANT to summon either the storm or something that brings the storm with it as a side effect. Actually photographing the girls could be just Jeffersons personal side project. But I am sure there is more behind it.

I doubt that the Prescotts would want Arcadia Bay to be destroyed, considering they're on the verge of finishing their Pan Estates project which is likely to line their pockets even further. Heck, one of the notes from Nathan's dad even stressed the importance of Pan Estates and asked Nathan not to cause any trouble for the family before they're finished.

Depends where Pan Estates is exactly... If the storm destroys the rest of Arcadia Bay the Prescott family can rebuild the whole town as Prescott Bay.

Judging by the article on Chloe's bed in Episode 4 as well as this flyer, it would appear as though Pan Estates is being constructed in the forest near the lighthouse, which definitely puts it in the path of the tornado's destruction. Why would the Prescotts (Sean in particular) want to destroy something they had just sunken so much money and time into?

I think that the tornado is simply a scaled-up (super?)natural disaster that wasn't directly caused by any of the characters in the game.

*Two moons show up in the sky*

*I don't give a shit'.

Anyway, great episode. That ending caught me off guard. Hopefully the 5th episode comes out soon.

What happens if you kill Chloe in the alternate timeline, btw?

She closes her eyes, tears are shed, players get to bear weight of decision for remainder of episode. In terms of consequences I don't think there are any.

Now that I think about it, does the butterfly even show up for that choice?

Nope. It really doesn't make a difference what you do, since that timeline gets erased.

Holy crap just finished that episode. Mr. Jefferson.

So is Mr. Jefferson actually Sean Prescott? That would explain why he kept telling Nathan not to call him.

And I don't think its any sort of ritual. Mr. Jefferson just gets his jollies in his Dark Room. I am guessing Max does something with her powers to go way back in time that causes the Vortex. Maybe the end of episode 5 will be Max waking up at her desk at the start of episode 1?

Jefferson and Sean are both moderately famous people, and Jefferson's too young to be Nathan's dad.

If I had to guess I'd maybe say he's either a protege of Sean's in the way Nathan appears to be a protege of Jefferson, or Jefferson is like a step-sibling or cousin or bastard child.

Wow, what a strong episode! So many special moments, from active euthanasia, to accidentally killing Frank+his dog, as well as that creepy Dark Room (and finding Rachel's corpse). Very strong themes in a videogame, indeed.

Also, the pool party was pretty nice. Some of the dance animations lasted for more than a minute before looping. Oh, and these two guys were hilarious:

And that ending! I did suspect Jefferson (or whoever he is) before, which made me choose him in the end of episode 2, but still, it's quite a chock. The ending was very tense ending; I repeatedly was trying to rewind time to prevent the shooting.

I am looking forward to playing how the final episode. This game is awesome! It's way ahead of the likes of Telltale and Quantic Dream. I really hope the game sells well enough for a second season.

WHAT

I made friends with him! We're like, besties now.

Crazy that you can kill him. Didn't even think it would be an option.
Same here, he even texts you later to wish you good luck and gives David's gun to Chloe for protection.

Then, when I finished the episode and checked my choices, I read "Chloe killed Frank" and I was like WTF!?!? xD

You get him killed by being sarcastic or blurting out stuff you shouldn't know. Like you shouldn't really know the name of his dog, apparently, as that sets him off to figure out you were the one that broke into his truck.

You can also go in between, where if you convince him to tightly shut the door the dog won't come out and Chloe just shoots him in the leg instead of the face.

It's weird that the dog's name is a trigger given you are best friend's with Chloe, a regular of his who could have told you the dog's name, but he is a sketchy drug dealer prone to anger.

Yeah, that whole interaction was pretty weird to me. Felt like the confrontation escalated a bit quickly than it should have based on what a said. I don't like to use my rewind unless I really need to, and I don't think I'm going to be losing all that much in Frank, so I didn't try and let him live although I still think he wasn't a terrible person at heart.

Watching the scene where both are killed on YouTube for the first time, the weirdest thing to me is that Max doesn't think to rewind at all. That's typically her go-to solution for any freak-out moment, and yet there's no justification given for why she doesn't do it there. Weird contrivance when the game's been pretty good about that so far.

Edit: Or wait, can you just rewind after the deed is done? That'd address it, then.

Does anyone think Jefferson might be aware of Max's time travelling abilities? I don't know how he would be, but in the last scene it almost seemed like he dosed Max to disable her rewind.

Owls are wisdom. We don't know if Jefferson has occult knowledge or not. I say he does and it's connected to what he does.
Owls could just be straight up a Twin Peaks reference as well.

I assume the tranq dose was intended for Max, as I assume Jefferson has some obsession with Max. He knew Chloe was probably gonna be there which is why he ended up shooting her. Not sure, maybe the tranq dose was intended for whoever, but Max and Chloe being in the way changed his plans.

Not sure where exactly the supernatural angle is supposed to go or how Nathan and Jefferson are connected besides using the dark room. Although right now with the supernatural side I'm more reserved in that just being a side effect of Max's power.

I know Nathan is probably just mentally disturbed and does that shit but not sure why Jefferson is in on it or needs to associate with Nathan, unless they both were responsible for Rachel's murder, which is the only reason they're covering it up. Maybe Rachel OD'd or something, causing Nathan to break cause they never actually "killed" any girls before.

He knew Chloe was probably gonna be there which is why he ended up shooting her.

As people were saying before, I think it's just self-defense. If he didn't shoot Chloe right then, she would have shot him.

I also think he has specific targets and Max was one of them, relating to all of those folders for the girls in the Dark Room.

Don't know if I'd call a premeditated ambush self defense. If it was just about getting Max alone he'd probably have a million opportunities to do it. He wanted to tie up loose ends.

I tried for like 30 minutes to get that scene to where I didn't shoot Frank or his Dog. It was only until after I finished the Episode where I learned I could kill them. It felt like a scene that I had to get him on my side for some reason.

I don't know if he'd prepared for Chloe originally but I guess when he saw them that night he figured he'd just take her out and subdue Max, cause I also think this whole thing's very specific in who they're taking, so it's not like he was gonna take Chloe as well.

True, killing the other person who had discovered Rachel's body. I'm not convinced it would have necessarily went down that way if Chloe didn't have a gun, though. Or maybe she's not "pure" enough for Jefferson.

It took me a bunch of tries to not get him and his dog killed. I wonder if it's easier if you have the money for him and didn't try to shoot him.

I didn't have a gun to shoot him with during the encounter, so I don't think it was even possible for it to end in Frank's death for me. Took me about 3 tries for them all to become buddies instead of getting messed up by the dog.

The dog can be killed, right? Haven't seen anyone talk about that encounter in the case where the dog died.

Ah, I couldn't recall where it was being constructed. I think it has to be supernatural, just due to all of the other crazy shit that's happening in tandem (the eclipse, the snow, dying animals everywhere). I'm not sure at all what's causing it though, so you may be right.

Oh, the thing with the gun is pretty interesting. I love how stuff like that changes up playthroughs in this game.

Everyone I've heard had the dog die too. For me, the dog escalated the whole confrontation and it probably happened for everyone else to judging by how that went down for me.(unless they'd killed the dog before but like no one did that)

Yeah, before the confrontation, Chloe reminded Max how once again things would be easier if she had a gun, and Max gave a sarcastic remark about how that would solve everything.

Oh, and sorry, I meant during that one scene in episode 3 where you can throw a bone in the streets, resulting in the dog getting hit by a car. That kills the dog, right? I just wonder how the episode 4 Frank confrontation plays out, in that case.

Yeah, the dog dies if you throw the bone into the street. Thing is not many people did that so I don't know if Frank can be killed or how that would play out if you talk out of turn with him there.

any theories about how alyssa will play into things? i imagine having to save her in every episode will have some effect

yeah i seriously had no idea that was a choice, i didn't hurt his dog and picked the right choices the first time, but to people who killed him, do you take the client list from him or do you just not get it?

If you throw the bone into the street, you can't kill the dog because he's too injured to come and attack you later.

I'm such a Hero. :P

You loot it off his corpse.

For the record I didn't end with that choice but I killed him about 4 times before I managed to befriend him.
