As long as it doesn't cross the DOA line, but I feel that games could have "sexier" designs without them pandering. You could give someone a body suit, but not have them strut their T&A in every pose. Viper for example does have a boob window, but she doesn't have max disjointed sexy poses every time she does a move (or a win pose). I think the little things like that can go a long way in developing characters that are sexy, yet portray some sense of decency (and not male gaze). One thing I don't get: Why is it so hard for Sagat to get a rematch against Ryu? Ryu literally does nothing but wander around all day long. It should be easy to put together.
It's a kind of risk. You might get called a 13-year-old boy despite being an accomplished adult artist, for example.
Sure, but in general, showing skin is more appealing to the eyes than not showing skin. Unless the character is design to appeal to men that get off on shy girls or classy women. Then more clothing is just accentuating a different kind of sexual appeal.
Basically, some guys want an Aeris, and others want a Tifa. Maybe you like Aeris girls more, and find something offensive about the Tifas, and that's fine. Why go out of your way to be frustrated about the Tifas, though?
Or, said differently, there are the Palutena and Robin lovers (*wink wink*), and then there are the guys that like Zero Suit Samus. A variety of approaches to beauty are appreciable. I imagine you like Chun-li more than Cammy, but like Rose more than both. Any chance I'm right? :-D
He was fine in Final Fight without them.
I'm inclined to think that El Fuerte is more based off R.Mika. His run mechanic seems more in line with her running super and in Omega form he gets her 'flying peach' (renamed to 'flying nachos' XD )I was checking out Maki in SvC2 and instead of run slides/kicks, she does run grabs... Was she the template for El Feurte?
Funny thing is, the amount of flack Cammy gets doesn't even come close to the reactions sparked when R. Mika gets brought up ^.^;The thing that bugs me the most about this topic is that the side often so against it always say they want equality...which is great and amazing but their equality often doesn't come from adding something new but rather changing the existing (in this example Cammy) which in the end pisses off and alienates the fans who liked her current design (potentially)
Also I wish we would stop treating design we simply don't like as some affront to human decency. Its like not liking a design (for good reasons might I add...I respect them) isn't enough unless you passive aggressively shut down anyone who does as some monster in the making.
There's a lot of dark hado stuff in people's quotes about Ryu. It sounds like something's happened. Heck, I can't remember who it was, but one quote sounds like it was written more for Evil Ryu than RyuFrom what I understand, by 3rd strike, ryu had gotten past all the dark hado stuff. Its why he wasn't the " main " guy anymore. I guess with his Darkside suppressed, he held no interest in akuma and Bison.
Is there a way this could not be true? ;-)
Also, how can't it be after 3S? Nash is all messed up, but he's fine in 3S. It seems unlikely that Nash started as a zombie but got cured.
I never said otherwise.
Because there are a bajilliondy sexy women in fighting games and games in general with out pants, and one putting on pants because its 2k whatever isn't going to kill anyone.so it's fine when you get your way at the expense of someone else being unhappy? If they can live with a small change...then why can't you live with Cammy being designed like she is?
and look I don't care if Cammy wore a a full body suit made of curtains (partially due to not playing her), I just feel that there is this weird hypocrisy that comes with this topic and a better solution would be to add rather than change that way both parties are happy.
I don't know if serious. I don't know if this a real kappa or notBecause Cammy's design makes them feel funny and they don't want to admit. A strong woman in a leotard is fighting men. The horror! Also, Balrog is probably going to be in either at launch or after. You can't have an in-game currency called "Fight Money" and not have the character that the name is even referencing in the first place. We all know that's Balrog's catchphrase, hence Balrog should be in especially over Dudley. #kappa
Fine, don't tell me if I have your taste in women down.As long as it doesn't cross the DOA line, but I feel that games could have "sexier" designs without them pandering. I made an error! Thank you for catching it!How do you know this?
They were doing some interesting things in omega mode with her charges

Who else has significant alterations beyond minor things?any character that got a major revamp in omega mode is a good sign they will make the roster cut in SF5, thats why i knew ken as a lock juri also got big revamp
Not to mention movesets.Capcom varies up its characters, but there are certain types of looks the female characters don't ever seem to get
I'm not implying in my argument that people should adhere to a certain archetype of women, but that you can make sexy women that aren't constantly subjected to the male gaze.Fine, don't tell me if I have your taste in women down.
Any kind of creation with the intention of pleasing the eye is a form of pandering. Pandering is entirely healthy. However, everyone has different lines of taste. You think Cammy is excessive, you think DOA is excessive, and I assume you think Senran Kagura is excessive. I think Cammy is great, DOA is borderline, and Senran Kagura is excessive.
I get that you like girls like Viper. Other men might find them "not enough" while still a third will say she is "showing too much". That's how sexual taste works. It's probably not healthy to involve so much energy in attempting to put down one preference in favor of another. Capcom will do the smart thing and include a variety of women that appeal to a variety of individuals. Some men pleasure themselves to the Virgin Mary archetype; let them have theirs, and let everyone else have theirs too.![]()
Who else has significant alterations beyond minor things?
Oh, hey, a female boxer. SNK beating capcom on diversity once againfixed that for you![]()
Not to mention movesets.
I always felt SNK did a better job with the variety in their female cast. They even have multiple female grapplers like Shermie, Hinako, blue mary, vice, etc :3
Who else has significant alterations beyond minor things?
Akira and Zaki were my 2 permanent team members in Project Justice XDLike true, I would like love a big girl grappler
I would also Like a female character who was just a like Akira's biker outfit from rival schools
~full biker Akira pic~
just like a biker or military lady, full suit, no skin gimmics. That would be neat, that would be an interesting change of pace.
Cammy's Summer alt was that by the way.
Akira had both looks in both games. The different forms actually played a bit differently too.Akira and Zaki were my 2 permanent team members in Project Justice XD
I quite like Akira's no-helmet look in Rival Schools 2, but her biker 'disguise' is cool too :3

I do wish Capcom would take more character design cues from SNK, especially late 90s-early 2000's SNK. Vice, Mature, Leona, Vanessa, Shermie, Angel, even the weirdo wannabe superhero girl, those are all stellar, unique and entirely non-pandering designs.

my main in SF4 was juri so i noticed the changes but i didnt play a ton of omega, ken was kinda hard to miss i mean he kicked fireballs lmao
heres a list of all the changes, most people thought of omega as a beta test for SF5 so it would make sense

There's a reason my favourite capcom games were CvS and CvS2. Also my teams for those games were 100% snk characters ^.^;Dont want to start a Capcom vs SNK Character Design War but i always liked the SNK characters alot more because they are all just... well people. Street Fighter can get really silly and i'm personally not a big fan of it. But i feel like that wouldnt fit SF completely, there characters have always been kinda over the top.
That being said: ANNOUNCE A NEW GAME ALREADY SNK. I DONT EVEN CARE, GIMME MAXIMUM IMPACT 3
I mean, my issue with Cammy in SFV, besides the fact that I'm bored of seeing the same character in the same suit with the same ponytail since 1995, is that she looks like she's juicing.
I'm hoping Laura is just Vanessa from VF
What does this even mean? How can you design sexy women that no one finds to be sexy?I'm not implying in my argument that people should adhere to a certain archetype of women, but that you can make sexy women that aren't constantly subjected to the male gaze.

I adore CvS2 if only because it gave me the chance to play as my favourite fighting game character of all time in a game I don't absolutely suck at.
That and it has one of the best stage themes of any game ever.
Sorry I think meant this, the super good one.
I'm saying having women in sexy looking costumes that aren't constantly posing for a male gaze. As in the women are still sexy looking, but their demeanor and actions aren't crafted around pleasing a male user. Poses like this would look ridiculous if a man was doing it.What does this even mean? How can you design sexy women that no one finds to be sexy?

King had long since switched from being a bouncer to becoming a bartender. That said, nearly every female redesigned for XII/XIII looked off in that art style (I say nearly because Kula was the one exception while also having an improved sprite over her old one, pretty much the direct result of her original designer still being with the company and Nona having nothing to do with her overhaul or anyone else's on the K' team).Look, if Ryu and the boys are going to be beef machines, then I'm pleased that Capcom is at least being consistent across the sexes.
Nothing is more obnoxious than seeing something like KOF13, where the men are JACKED and the women's arms are toothpicks. Seriously, King's KOF13 arms are a joke for a bouncer. A SOUTHTOWN bouncer, no less.
This is tuna with bacon :3 (listen to it with this in mind. You'll never hear the song any other way ever again ;D)I adore CvS2 if only because it gave me the chance to play as my favourite fighting game character of all time in a game I don't absolutely suck at.

Clearly you've never read JoJo's Bizarre Adventure![]()
Holy shit why isn't omega mode used more often during endless matches
Yup, yup. Definitely agree. Poses and Camera angles are the real problem in most cases. I like Cia in Hyrule Warriors but every time she's introduced and the camera pans up from her boobs I just about hurt myself from rolling my eyes so hard :/I'm saying having women in sexy looking costumes that aren't constantly posing for a male gaze. Why stop at making a woman look sexy? Why be upset that her poses and such are also sexy? It seems like you have a very arbitrary cutoff point here. You have to explain so much more to have a semblance of coherency.
