Dark Souls 3 Trailer (Gamescom 2015)

Dark Souls 2 is a ridiculously good game, but I have to disagree here. I've felt as if the bosses have been mostly downhill since Demon's Souls. There are notable exceptions like
Arotorias, Fume Knight, Sinh, Ornstein & Smough, etc.
I thought Demon's did it best because most bosses had some sort of mechanic that needed to be understood.

It seems most bosses now are wait for opening and then attack. Whereas I really enjoyed the
Old Hero from Demon's because he was blind, but used hearing as his source to attack.

This has been my problem with boss designs in the series since Dark Souls 1 and why only the best of the best bosses in Dark Souls and beyond are the only ones I enjoy. The rest are nearly mindless and borderline boring.

Whoa that spells dracula backwards that's crazy how'd you come up with such a name?

I'm still "meh, on DS3 compared to Bloodborne, but fuck this was a good trailer. Got me hyped with some weird bosses, even if they are all humanoid bosses. Atleast they're kinda weird looking humanoid bosses.

Wasn't the deal that you create summon or invading spots with bodies, not bonfires.
I forget.

Oh ok. I thought it would be a cool idea if there were rare bonfire items, that you could use to create your own at a place of your choosing. But I stress 'rare'

Looks legitimately fucking amazing. The fact that your usual big hulk of armoured motherfucking metal knight is crawling around on all fours and insane speeds makes me believe this game will have some crazy boss fights.

I'm in day one no matter what.

I don't think people hate humanoid enemies. I think they just didn't like DS2's boss selection, and a large part of that was the bosses feeling same-y.

But people don't hate humanoid bosses for being humanoid. Bloodborne's a clear indication of that.

Yeah the problem aren't the humanoid bosses the problem with ds2's bosses is the lack off variety, all the fights with humanoid bosses were very samey they followed almost the same pattern and it doesn't help that sometimes their design was so bland with some exeptions like alonne and fume.

Humanoid enemies in souls are some of my favorit fights if done right like artorias ornstein and smough , false king, father G, the last boss oficial bloodborne (avoiding spoilers for people to people that are yet to experience it)

yerba what

Holy smoke! Now thats some non generic human bosses! Day one for sure! On a more critical view, they need to change the game engine in theor future games. It sure look great, but its not graphicly next gen yet, thinking the same way for Bloodborne. But its a day one, well in fact its my only day one purchase this year :). Wont mind to pay 79,99$ CND for that!

combat looks really fast paced, reminds me a lot of bloodborne
i'm pretty glad they went this route cuz i didnt think id be able to go back to souls combat after getting into how much fun bloodborne was

Cannot wait, was pretty disappointed with bloodborne myself, hopefully the combat is more like souls and less like bloodborne.

Looks more like Bloodborne than Dark Souls. I think.

Media blackout starting... now!

Will wait for final PtD/SotFS edition.

I must have dark fantasy fatigue or something. That looked pretty boring and samey. That armored boss on all fours kinda reminded me of the Blood-starved Beast, and I was consistently getting Bloodborne vibes elsewhere in the trailer.

Looks great. Getting it day 1 on PC...whenever that may be!

Also I feel like I see the words "franchise fatigue" almost 20 times every souls thread I click and it still hasn't stopped being the dumbest phrase I've ever heard lol.

I see that we're doing the usual old Dark Souls 2 pissing contest. Much like the plot of these games, the cycle will never end. There are those great souls who proclaim franchise fatigue, tired of the cycle of fighting, but in the end they only become undead monstrosities.

Where are all these other great Bloodborne type games I want dark Fantasy fatigue too.

Can't wait for the downgraded lighting.( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°) ° ͜ʖ ͡ -

I think I'll wait for the GotY edition. I learned my lesson with Dark Souls 2. They'll probably release a DX11 version first and then a year later release a Windows 10/DX12 focused version to try to get people to double-up.

Well, to Namco I say: No, fuck you. I'll wait.

I guess they thought that an ~18000 year pause will help alleviate "franchise fatigue" concerns.

also by then we will be pure energy that exists beyond time and space

or extinct

so it's a safe bet they might be able to get away with another downgradeathon

Maybe it's how the trailer is edited but it looked like the combat is a little faster than in the previous two.
Can't wait for more Dark Souls.

Dark Souls 2's issue with humanoid bosses were twofold:

1) They were big dudes (and one dudette) with blades of some sort.

2) You could camp underneath their arms and kill them.

I'm of the opinion that Bloodborne had the best assortment of bosses in the Souls series. Great variety made from cherrypicking the best workable aspects of the past Souls games while having new kinds of fights (Witch of Hemwick). Also, Bloodborne's fights felt more like outright brawls with beasts for the most part, which fits thematically with the game.

Also, despite Bloodborne having two 'human' fights (they're people...except one who goes apeshit when he's half dead), they weren't giant dudes who were slow. They're hunters like you and they more or less feel like mirror fights. But not in the same degree as fighting a regular NPC in that these specific boss fights have certain deadly patterns you need to figure out.

Bosses that are humanoid like the Witch of Hemwick, Shadow of Yharnam, and
Yharnam
have enough variety in their fights that places them above giant dudes with giant weapons that swing at you.

I estimate the chances of this happening to be 0.00%. They had incentive to do something like that because they could port it to current gen consoles. The next generation of consoles will be years away and it seems unlikely they would only do it for the PC version.
