Final Fantasy XV 'Dawn' trailer

As much as the trailer was shit all the Regis posts are quite annoying.

His old design was used in the JF trailer.

Ok, trying to take a more balanced view.

The graphics were beautiful, animations and textures looked absolutely gorgeous. Need to listen again and really focus on the music, but I liked what I heard. Getting some more world-setup is good.

However...

Without more context, it is hard to give much meaning to these scenes. Personally I'm not good at getting the vague symbolism of characters I don't recognize interacting briefly without dialogue or explanation. A bit of gameplay or a new environment would have been nice, but not critical. But the general teasiness of the trailer + lack of release date...ugh, that's what I'm most huffy about.

Good lord, what a weak trailer.

At least focus on (not)Stella for crying out loud. That part was more interesting than some old man holding a kid.

Ahead of the ceremony, Prince Noctis, heir to the Lucian throne, sets forth from his homeland to formalize the union of states through his marriage to the Lady Lunafreya of the imperial province of Tenebrae.

^^^^^^

Typical cliched arranged marriage bs.
Again, we didn't know enough about Stella's back story to know it wasn't going to be like this as well.

My reactions to this trailer...

"Fifteen years ago..." Final Fantasy Versus XIII was unveiled.
Oh wait, that was only 9 years ago? This must be an actual story plot point.

<watches 30 seconds of back story>

Man, Noctis' father really loves his son. Let's watch them hug for 90 seconds.

And it's over.

Nailed it.

Where does it say that?

Also, he is a prince, is it strange for him to have an arranged marriage?

they still redesigned him, comparing his look in the E3 2013 trailer to this. It's to be expected, they changed a shit ton of stuff.

The latest KH3 trailer shat on this trailer from great heights

if FFXV needs to be sacrificed in order for KH3 to continue being amazing... then so be it

The biggest problem I have with the King's redesign is inherently a part of the entire restructuring of the game's plot. No longer a sleek, cool modern-day mafia-esque royal family, but generic kingdom dude with sword and beard.

RIP Versus

Is it really cliche though?

I can only recall Tales of Vesperia where the main dude went through an arranged marriage.

But it does seem to differ quite a bit from Stella's role in Versus 13.

TBH I like the arranged marriage idea. Most Japanese games have the protagonist freely liking someone, so having politics tied to the romance is refreshing.

How is it a ruse?

"The offer of peace, however, is no more than a ruse to lower the Lucian shield, and the imperial army takes the crown city and its sacred crystal in one fell swoop. En route to his destination, Noctis is shocked to learn that he, his father the king, and his betrothed are believed dead."

Besides, it's royals getting set for marriage. Marriage != terrible cliche.

How do we know Stella's wasn't the same?

Tabata already said they changed literally everything about the character to the point where it wasn't Stella. Stella was a warrior with powers. Luna is, from what i'm seeing here, the absolute opposite of that with no power, or much strength. Stella was supposed to meet Noctis at a party where they struck up a relationship in secret even though their countries were at war. Luna is already betrothed to Noctis apparently.

Its all different, the game, the story and the feel.

Luna is a DRG confirmed??? Yiss! :D
Loved the music but I was hoping for a little more meat. This seems like a set up for a more action oriented trailer. Hopefully the ATR gives us a little more info.

Shit changes in 15 years and hell people bring up the idea that this might not be Regis.

This is something weird to worry about.

Besides his old design was used in the JF trailer.

I don't know what to believe anymore.

Is it a reality based on fantasy or am I crazy...

Wasn't FFXV supposed to be "A fantasy based in reality" or something like that? Arranged marriages were not uncommonly a part of peace treaties in the past, so I don't see how Luna being part of such a treaty makes her a bad character.

Noctis's father can still go back to his suave design, 15 years is a lot. He will probably just look much older, and I'm okay with that he looked too young to begin with.

This was a slightly touching, slightly confusing, and slightly bad trailer though. I really don't see the point of it unless there are some minutes of footage left out.

Hard for me to say but this must've been the worse trailer XV received 'till now. I mean, I'm happy and all that the dark themed story is probably still lingering in this game, but the trailer didn't show anything, nor story nor gameplay. Just some graphics set in two stages only and with 3 chars only. I don't get the meaning of this trailer sincerely, not even a release date window in it... must be trolling for what they ll show at the ATR tonight perhaps?

That said. Worse offender of it all? They couldn't voice 2 lines of dialogues in ANY language for a fucking trailer?

This game will never be out.

The offer of peace on Niflheim's part was the ruse, not the wedding on Tenebrae's part I think is what that is supposed to be. Either way this is all knee-jerky and ridiculous.

Yes, because a child is a fair match against some mysterious knight guy. Adult Luna, perhaps, but child Luna? Maybe crying child Noctis is just a pussy.

more like they're showing these flashbacks to make us pity her, hope not. It'll be much more interesting if this is just a lead up to her "seeing the light of expiring souls".

have they even mentioned that since this was re-announced last year?
