Final Fantasy XV 'Dawn' trailer

Nice imagery, good music, but there isn't enough context for us to make any sort of emotional reaction to this scene. I mean it COULD be a huge tear-jerker, but, we don't know without context.

Guys, it's obvious this is a teaser for another big trailer. The whole Dawn theme, the trailer releasing at 8AM here in Germany at the first day of gamescom. This is literally only “the beginning of the story“. Believe.

In the extended trailer we will see:

-the mysterious figure take several more steps towards Luna.
-the dog take a piss on one of the cars
-an extended look at Regis holding Noctis.

I'd love a mischievous dog buddy in a Final Fantasy game.

I have to admit I am wondering why King Regis was pushing the young girl to the ground like that.

It's definitely not Regis, but someone closer to Luna (her father, king of Tenebrae?).

Regis has been portrayed as a kind man (at least towards his son), and what business would he have abusing a princess from another kingdom.

Also the armor does not match.

I doubt it happens but it would be cool if there was a "Dusk" trailer later today.

I don't think that's Regis, the armors don't match:

My theory is that the guy could be Idola Eldercapt (the leader of the Empire) and the empire had the whole town on siege to search for Luna.

Ugh, why are they putting mechs in this?
That's a bit too much technology on Niflheim's side.

lol that wasn't Regis

He is.

"Square Enix today unveiled a brand-new Final Fantasy XV cinematic trailer titled “Dawn.” Setting the stage for the main character Noctis, the trailer depicts the dramatic events that take place 15 years prior to the journey that players will embark on in Final Fantasy XV. The trailer also depicts the strong bond that young Noctis has with his father, King Regis, who now faces difficult decisions regarding relations between his kingdom and its warmongering neighbor, Niflheim.

Final Fantasy XV tells the engaging tale of Crown Prince Noctis and his comrades, out on the road and fending for their lives after the armed forces of Niflheim launch a surprise assault upon the Kingdom of Lucis.

More information regarding the trailer will be unveiled in the upcoming Active Time Report, scheduled for August 5, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) / 12:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). The Active Time Report can be viewed on Twitch."

Yeah that looks much more like a 15 years younger Idola Eldercapt.

Has the town under siege to look for Luna, then manipulates her over the next 15 years to use her as a pawn to get Lucis into a peace treaty only to backstab and invade Lucis. The man plans the long game.

It all turns to ashes in my mouth, the bitter taste of Tabata's betrayal.

Stella, you were too good for this sinful world.

I was talking about the man who hits young Luna, not the one with child Noctis

Talking about him

But that's literally the whole point. They have to rely on technological advancements because Lucis were the last kingdom left with a crystal. And your SE quote...proves his point? He was saying the person hitting Kid Luna wasn't Regis, and it isn't. It's Idola thingymajigy

You don't simply forget the dead.

I think I need to see a counsellor and get therapy.

She's easily forgettable. She never existed outside of a few trailers and some magazine pictures.

The fetish for Stella is up there with Toriyama's creepy fetish for Lightning at this point.

Oh i'm sorry didn't understood.

Yeah i know but mechs, i would have preferred if they stopped at tanks and such :/

Okay, having watched it, that really was a weak trailer that had no business seeing the light of day. Half of it is literally spent showing the dad holding Noctis, but without context it doesn't have much of an emotional impact.

so i guess the protag grows up in real time because its took them 10 years to make this game.
:p

smh...

weak trailer....still a year+ away ...la sigh

Kind of, i mean for this game the negativity is so strong sometimes makes it hard to go through XV's related threads.

I mean, most of the complaints are legit (although i don't agree with), but it really brings me down every time.

When Philippo is losing faith in FFXV, you know something went seriously wrong.

On a brighter note, at least there are some darker moments in the game at least. Wonder if child abuse will be a subject they tackle here.

Yep that's what I think, but I doubt that the empire would hold a whole town under siege to get a random girl to use as bait in a political marriage, maybe just maybe Luna could still possess powers similar to Noctis? or something different.

Because I really don't think Idola is her father, and it seems the empire was hoping that she would also die at Lucis with the attack, they are saying that Regis, Noctis and Luna died in the attack.

Those medieval armors better be made out of Kevlar.. The art direction for this game is all over the place..

If you don't want hybrids of medieval armament and modern technology, FF hasn't been the brand for you for 2 decades.

It's interesting to note how in these recent trailers all seem to have Noctis sleeping in them. Possibly a recurring theme.

Lunafreya is still a member of a Royal family in Tenebrae. Idola is the ruler of Niflheim kingdom.

Story abstract:

In a matter of days, the Kingdom of Lucis is to sign an armistice, ending a long and bitter conflict with Niflheim. Ahead of the ceremony, Prince Noctis, heir to the Lucian throne, sets forth from his homeland to formalize the union of states through his marriage to the Lady Lunafreya of the imperial province of Tenebrae.

Maybe he will fall into a coma 1/3 into the game and you'll play as Luna after that lol
