Final Fantasy XV 'Dawn' trailer

You know being a scenario writer doesn't mean that she wrote the whole game right?

Actually it does. There are of course additional minor writers for subquests and non important dialogue, but Itamuro was the main writer for Dissidia along with Akiko Ishibashi. The original misconception was "Uhhh guyz Saori Itamuro was just a planner he (sic) had nothing to do with the writing" which is plainly false. I remember even Kagari was mistaken until someone posted the screencap.

I love it. They have a plan for when they're going to make an announcement for the announcement of the release. So they essentially just announced the announcement to the announcement.

Looking good, but the character design is a turn off for me. I though we had gone way past the Gackt looking dude in FF but I thought wrong.
But again, I really liked FF XIII so...

Airships not confirmed yet apparently because of technical reasons (it can fly at "bird high" but not really high, or something like that).

If they can't have an airship at release they'll try to make a DLC after release.

Edit: Oh, didn't realize there's a thread for this, sorry.

They honestly could have had the ATR in japan instead of going to gamescom for this.
This is taking bare bones to a new level. How far along is this game?

Impressively boring trailer. These characters are completely uninteresting; is Noctis's defining trait that he sleeps all the time? Feels like this isn't the first trailer we've seen where he sleeps through most of it.

I'm pretty sure he's sleeping for like 5 seconds at the beginning of one other trailer and that's it. Unless you are referring to the beginning of Episode Duscae?

At this point, I honestly expected something with more substance.

child Noctis looks cute, ugly backdrop at the end. weird models.boring trailer.

meh, but at least there was something new to complain about :P
fun discussion about Noctis dad and Luna.

This is such a badly paced and edited trailer, that you have to wonder if they just grabbed the most finished cutsceness they had, put them together and call it a day.

Three cutscenes totally unrelated to each other that are suposed to wake some sort of emotional response in the viewer. But is hard that to happen, when we are not even supossed to know why we are suposing to have sad feelings over.

There's just Luna being beaten up by some dude, showing again that whatever sign of a strong female character that Stella had, is gone. Here is just another damsel in distress.

Then a dog looking for something with a bunch of soldiers. Again, totally unrelated to the events, the fade in black text is telling us.

And finally an, suposedly so, emotional scene, that even feels akward to watch, because it barely makes sense put together with the previous 2 scenes.

The result, is one of the weaker FF trailers in existence, so bad that you have to wonder if it actually reflects the clusterfuck development the game may be suffering.

Is sad that Luna became a standard damsel in distress princess, is sad that Regis now is like any other old dude king like in every other FF game, instead of the cool looking mafia boss he was before.

Is sad, that the first proper trailer in one year is this piece of shit.

I'll say it again, KH3 is gonna release sooner, XV is a 2017 game.

**************

Yep, they're making famous youtubers figures play the game for 5 days straight in 17+ LPs! , cosplay contests, ATR, many Q/A with development team so they can release the game in 2 years.

Oh, I see! I always appreciate insider info like this, thanks.

What a shame, though. A new trailer, live stream and several Q&As and interviews really isn't enough. I mean, hello, the game is only over a year away. I wanted them to show every in-game and CGI cutscene of the game, every area plus all relevant NPCs and a summary of the sidequests for each and maybe even the complete bestiary with a live-streamed Let's Play of how to beat the hardest monsters. Also I expected them to at least show us every magic spell in the game (ideally also the way to acquire them) and all the crazy summons we haven't seen yet.
You know, like all the big publishers do for their games over a year before release. Man, just when you thought SE was getting back on track :/

"2016"

Would be nice tho if they gave us a exact month or date!

I'm so sorry for all of you.

Truly sorry.

I was personally surprised to see the return of unvoiced, subtitle only cutscene trailers. Of anything, I would have thought they'd completed the scenario and all related voice work by now.

So it's juxtaposing Luna's and Noctis's relationships with their fathers when they were growing up; one abusive, one loving.

Also, it looks like Regis has just come back from fighting a war, which is why I assume he looks scruffy and unkempt. I don't think the yakuza/mafia aesthetic is gone from the game, its just something that the Lucis kingdom grows into in the decadent 15 years after this scene takes place. Regis then makes some sort of monkey's paw-esque deal in order to seal his country's victory in the war (and keep the crystal's power), which involves offering up his son's future as a kind of sacrifice.

I think that's about it. You can hold me to it.

Have fun bickering!

They confirmed that Regis got a redesign.

I can't believe there weren't any explosions or gun fire in the trailer. Bored me half to death with this "tone" and "setting" bullshit. Hopefully next time we see Noctis scrambling from cover to cover while gunfire rains down a hallway. That was the best trailer. Such excite.

... Yes. That's totally the reason. You nailed it. It was a lack of explosions.

... I'm going back to bed.

Well, now with the advent of in-game/in-engine cutscenes we should start expecting more frequent redesigns.

Will this game even have pre-rendered cutscenes anymore??? I forget.

That's, completely unironically, exactly what I want from a FFXV trailer. Hype me the fuck up so you can get 2/3 million orders on day 1.

I don't need Shakespeare or Milton or whatever the heck Squeenix is trying to do here in a trailer, of all things.

Trailers are nothing but marketing, plain and simple. And this trailer doesn't market very well...

Why does his father look like a young version of liam neeson?
That was...a really boring trailer which told us nothing. And thats bad for a game which is in development (hell) for more than 9 years. :/
