Life is Strange | Spoiler Thread

I agree with her thoughts on the subject though my sister actually brought up that chloe brings you this choice after you give her the morphine which could alter her state of mind regarding that, and this is a pretty huge thing to not be clear headed on for obvious reasons. I put her to sleep but didn't even consider that at the time.

Well I think the time between her telling you that and the morphine being given to her is too short to really consider it a situation where she decided this under the influence.

I didn't kill Chloe because it is highly illegal and I just kept thinking "yeah I know I'm about to go back to the real timeline but WHAT IF I GET STUCK IN THIS ONE AT THE END OF THE GAME". Max would go to jail for sure, and with all the crazy shit happening, who is to say Chloe won't get magically cured?

It ain't over 'til it's over.
i flat out couldn't do it at first, but i did go back just to see what happens when you do, not sticking with it though

Max is also a horrible person for ditching right after it.

doesn't the timeline implode or something after max fixes it?

So this song that's also on the Spotify playlist... It hasn't been used so far.

Listening to it... I know at least one moment from Ep. 5 will hurt. A lot.

I can see it being used during a key cutscene, "try... try again" "too late to turn the tide"? That could fit with a loop and going back to the first day but I really hope there's a good ending you can achieve.

This sounds like an end credits kind of song tbh

I initially hit "I don't know", but when the choice came up, I actually kind of agreed to it without much hesitation. I could see how much pain Chloe was in, and I thought that it was another example of what I've loved so much about this game, you can't control what other people do but you can decide how you will react.

It was only afterwards that I wondered if I should at least have tried refusing. For instance, if Max had convinced Chloe that she needed to be strong, I might have been more keen to do it, but 'refuse' just seemed to me like a fairly weak position.

It's great that it's sparked discussion, though.

I'm 95% sure that this will be the ending song

Argh, I want them to use Obstacles again for the ending. Realistically that's not probable but that song is seriously special. I mean, that could still be timely. Idk.

That being said, that's probably going to be the ending song. ^ Assuming whatever's going on is sad as fuq the song makes for some tears because it's kind of the coming of age, quirky thing but it'll probably be playing to something sad and quite possibly outlandish(in comparison to all the normal everyday things referenced in the song) humanizing everything and giving a very similar special feel the ending to episode 1 had. Kind of how it worked in Episdoe 4 after coming back from all that crazy alternate timeline stuff.

Yeah, me too. When it played during the ending montage in EP1, that was the moment I realized this game would be something else. Whenever I think about the music of LiS, my mind immediately jumps to Obstacles. I'd be cool to end with it.

That ending sequence is still my favorite scene in the game. Nice Magnolia-esque moment, connected all the very different characters with the snow and showed that the game was still going to be a bit grounded while dealing with supernatural themes as well.

A plausible theory from r/lifeisstrange

Basically, the game references a comic about two time travellers written by two guys called Sean and Mark.

Sean Prescott and Dr Jeff on a time travelling rampage throughout Arcadia Bay??? maybe!

I very much think that something like this is possible, and those two guys are just manipulating the world to their liking with time travel. The tornado and such could be an attempt of theirs to eliminate Max.

If Frank dies the overall reaction really isn't too bad, Max is barely shook at all and I don't think Chloe was too heartbroken either.

By the way, did anyone kill Frank? What's Max reaction?

Seems kinda out of character for her to let murder pass.
I let this happen because I forgot until the barn section that I could rewind time. Max doesn't really have a strong reaction but Chloe takes it really really badly in the next scene. I really felt bad for her.

That's what I wrote initially but edited as I'm not sure they won't use an original track for that. I can see it used for a closing montage that changes (or not) based on your decisions but I think like the credits song, as with all the other credits so far, will not be licensed but it'll be a different one from credits past.

I'm 95% sure that this will be the ending song

This was already used once though wasn't it? Could still happen, it does fit.

I was discussing this with my girlfriend after we finished that episode, she put Chloe to sleep in her game, but I chose not to.

Her reasoning was basically that if someone is ever in a brain dead state, or in a situation where there is literally no chance of recovery, then it is selfish to force them to stay alive at that point, if they are ready to go or are very obviously never going to wake up, or anything, but either way will never recover or have any quality of life, then you're doing them a favor and they will no longer be in pain.

Chloe's situation is a little less absolute but there was enough information there where she was most likely never going to recover and she simply didn't want to live an existence in her room, costing her family so much money, and she was ready to go after her nice time with Max, so she concluded that she was doing what Chloe wanted with good reason.
I however refrained from putting Chloe to sleep because I didn't necessarily feel like Max should have to experience that and I also felt that it was a little too immediate, so in hindsight I wish I had put Chloe to sleep, but in the moment I felt doing so was a little rash.
Interesting. It would be really cool for a game website to tackle this story and maybe get an interview with DNOD on what their thought process was going into the episode.

In the ending of ep 2 the song Mt. Washington by The Local Natives plays. When they show Mr.Jefferson in the car and the Principal talking to him the lyrics say "Digging like you can bury/ Something that cannot die/ We could wash the dirt off our hands now"

I thought that was so neat lol

Max's shirt says Jane Doe, like an unidentified dead person. Just sayin'

Nice observations. Real cool use of lyrics. The other day I was thinking about that time the Principal was talking to Jefferson in his car.

Anyone think they'll release episode 5 on October 11th?

I don't know if Sony/Microsoft would make an exception and update the store on that date but if they can make it happen and the episode's done with I'm sure they'd do it.

I absolutely love the music selection for this game. I have a huge spotify playlist with these songs scattered throughout. I will be listening to it, in a good mood and then BAM! Song from LiS comes on and almost instant tears.

It's outstanding in this game. Perfect mix of the coming of age quirkiness/supernatural sort of thing in all the songs.

Yup. Max listening to "To all of You" while walking around Blackwell for the first time, Max and Chloe lying in bed with "Lua" on in the background, "Got Well Soon" at the End of the World party, etc. Every time I listen to the soundtrack I'm always reminded of the specific scene each song was used in.

I'm pretty sure "To All of You" will have a special place in my heart for a long time, when that first played, man, I knew this game would be special.
"Mt Washington" also is important to me, I can't listen to it without thinking about how I failed to save Kate.

"To All of You" was fantastic as well. That opening worked so well, that song was so innocent and fit perfect for walking around Blackwell. "Santa Monica Dream" is a song that I really love how it was used in the game, the game's environment in that first episode was really warm and quiet and so was Chloe's house. Made exploring her place a lot nicer. And like a said before, Obstacles is probably my favorite song/moment in the game.

This was probably the moment I knew this game was going to be special. It is such a little thing, but the way they integrated it into Max's headphones was brilliant.

I'm going to have heart failure when this ends. I really will. I can just imagine what kind of ending sequence they're going to have while one of their fantastic musical numbers plays silently in the background. Going to be a real gaming moment for me. One that I haven't had in a while.

Anyone think they'll release episode 5 on October 11th?

Episode 1: Jan 30th
Episode 2: March 24th (7.5 weeks)
Episode 3: May 19th (8 weeks)
Episode 4: July 28th (10 weeks)
Episode 5: Last week of september or first week of october would be my guess? October 11th is a sunday anyway so, even there's no retail version, a reference to the game events seems unlikely (plus the game takes place in 2013, not this year)

Think about THIS: If OtherMax still exists in the alternate timeline, imagine her "waking up" to find her ex best friend DEAD and her being the cause of it but having no memory of it.

Oof, well put. All her friends would have testified she was acting strangely too - "suddenly insisted on being called Max instead of Maxine". What a nightmare. Alt-Max would be put under psych care.

The comic reference was fucking genius. Good lord the amount of care that went into this game is ridiculous.

And I love that it shows, even for people who can't notice such details by themselves, such as me. You have a ton of people who would never figure out this sort of stuff, but still feel like it's a much more compelling world and story than any of the other games in this style. You don't need to actually analyze every bit of information for it to make a difference. Just being there makes a big difference in making that world believable.

"I know she's been dying to see you"

This is from chloes dad at the end of episode 3. Probably reading too much into it but that is interesting.

episode 5 prediction tagged
I wonder if the only way to save chloe is max not meeting her again and dragging her into this at all.

If Max never sees Chloe again then Nathan shoots her at the beginning of the game.

I have a feeling the game will bring you really far back in the timeline to make changes. I don't think the first Nathan/Chloe confrontation is the only possibility.

Anyway I think it's very possible you have to choose between Chloe and Max/or her power, I don't know that seems too obvious. I'd like to see a big decision made in regards to maybe David, a character who while he's come off as mean seems to have good intentions.

I don't think that this is plausible at all. Why should they allow Max to get that far with her investigation when they could easily get rid of her and her investigation through time traveling? Furthermore, the comic Is not quite comparable to this game.

I bet that by the end of Episode 1, no one imagined we would feel this way and the season would take this direction.

they devs got better and better as each ep went on. I think Dontnod is gonna be the next Telltale. hopefully they move away from cross-gen for the next season to make the game way prettier.

I think LiS has been a lot bigger of a production than Telltale games have been, where Telltale can crank out like a couple series a year, this seems to have taken some more development time. Dontnod has some other stuff in the works but I'd love for them to do more with LiS or anything else with the episodic format.
