Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

Yeah good point about Forza being born as a response to GT. I wouldn't go as far to say the racing isn't important to Forza at all, and its certainly going to to be a mile better than the racing that took place in Forza 5, but you are right about the lack of penalties, pits etc and the general overall focus to sim racing. I think T10 still continually reiterating the numbers game in interviews shows that they are still more about hitting that car collecting niche more than the hardcore racing niche like PCars has done.

Let's ignore Leagues and how they went in more detail with them at Gamescom and talked about them on stage.

Well it's hard to complain about a feature because you refuse to use it, drivatars are already very much like racing online already.

Yeh and that's precisely why they are mostly shit to race against.

So it's now difficult to have a clean race online and now offline as well. Wonderful.

Hey look another example of someone not paying attention, we've known since E3 that you can set a professional mode on drivatars in Forza 6 and turn off bad behavior.

In leagues online you will be matched depending on your own driving behavior and performance.

Can anyone suggest me the best racing wheel for this game?

My parents in states for 2 week, so if I can I just want to order it from there. I am sure it will be too expensive here in Canada where I live.

bump

Thrustmaster tx is the only real option.

MadCatz is MadCatz plus it's more expensive, plus it's not belt driven, plus they might be going out of business.

Thrustmaster isn't out yet and it's also not belt driven and over priced.

The Fanatec option gives you PS4 & XB1 comparability..........but you will be out $1000 when you buy everything you need.

He meant the Logitech.

I bought a thrustmaster tx a couple of weeks ago and it's a nice bit of kit. Gonna have to spend some more cash to get a shifter, pedals with clutch etc but I've no complaints about the base itself or the force feedback.

Blimey, £81!!!!

I'll get if from the US store for $99.

As an aside, I've always wondered how people can manage to drive from 3rd person.

Has there ever been a poll or study into which driving views are the most popular?

Not sure, unless you arent familiar with the track, how a view like that would give an advantage.

For me chase cam can help because I have a little more more spacial awareness. I don't need to look side to side or behind me, because a small portion of each is always on screen so I can tell if I'm too close to a car. The little gap visible behind your car in chase cam can be a lifesaver in heavy braking sections too.

That Huracan at night video is amazing. So intense.

As for cam angle, I switch between chase and hood. I've used chase most of my life, but I'm starting to prefer hood.

I don't understand how anyone races cockpit. I get the immersion factor, but it just seems terrible to me.

Only downer is that the car's interior isn't affected by the opponent's lights during night races (only the track lights change the lighting inside the cockpit..). maybe this has change for in the final build though (this looks like the same build as E3)

Ha I can't understand how people don't race cockpit... IMO It's like piloting a vehicle from behind the wheel versus playing an R/C car... The thrill

But you give up so much information. Even in a triple monitor setup, it's still not like sitting in the driver's seat of an actual car imho.

Ugh, the music is some awful Hans Zimmer bullshit like GRID Autosport. Nothing remotely close to enjoyable and only a tiny step above the heavy metal garbage many others go with. Do only the Japanese understand what makes a fun racing soundtrack? Racing will be intense on it's own, the music should be enjoyable jams to round out that experience.

I agree 100%. It's the same forza 5 junk that makes me want to sleep not race.....who would ever agree that brass percussion instruments were adrenaline inducting

Forza Horizon?

No. Only the British do.

Edit:
Summarily beaten :-)

I'm not overly keen on cockpit view, it's a bit too restrictive, hood view is probably the best view, although the "just behind windscreen" view in DriveClub was pretty good.

Regarding the "motorsport" in FM, I would love to see Turn10 go for a separate game with a subscription model, where they can fully flesh out the sim-side of their game. something like 10 moneys per month for a Forza-engined online racing game with leagues, tournaments and so on. that would also be available on pc with crossplay, so FM-series can stay Xbox-exclusive and mass market.
Halo got a push for a pro gaming series, why not Forza?

Right now I'm slowly piling up some XL$ from deals for the ultimate edition from the US store. It's 109,49€ in Germany, but only $99,95 in the US. never bought dlc for Forza games before, but the early access was just too sweet to ignore.

bring back forza 3 music, all this dramatic generic tune stuff is upsetting.

Forza Horizon?
That's a whole different sort of project, IMO. Everything about the game was a festival theme, just kickin back and having a party. In keeping with that, they licensed a fuckton of music tracks that you'd expect from any marketing company trying to convey a "having fun" theme. That's entirely different from sitting down and going "we're going to compose a new soundtrack to make something that suits and enhances this dedicated competitive racing game of ours" and coming up with... this. The only explanation I can come up with is them getting pressure from the expensive European brands to try and present their vehicles in a "classy and elegant" manner, so they come up with this faux Bond chase scene trash.

If Microsoft were really savvy they'd use the Windows 10 connection stuff to let you stream your own music from your computer to your Xbox while you play games. I guess that's too pro-consumer compared to getting you to sub to Groove on both.

What games have done that?

But there's nothing Groove can do on Xbox One that apps like the Media Player and Plex can't? When background audio works for one, it'll work for them all.

The main limitation is that games never seem to let you integrate playlists into the games directly anymore like back on the OG Xbox. I always preferred that approach to custom soundtracks tbh.
