Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

Ugh, the music is some awful Hans Zimmer bullshit like GRID Autosport. Nothing remotely close to enjoyable and only a tiny step above the heavy metal garbage many others go with. Do only the Japanese understand what makes a fun racing soundtrack? Racing will be intense on it's own, the music should be enjoyable jams to round out that experience.

Hans Zimmer Bullshit............pffft

Don't know what you're going on about, but the score is meant to be very cinematic, and Hans is great. I don't have it on but I enjoy it in 5, very classy.

Forza Motorsport 2 was the last, true, simulation aimed Forza game to come out.

FM2 tried very hard to give us racing game lovers what we wanted. The game is surprisingly very well rounded in terms of content, and actually gave you very little options to deviate from the challenge that the game presented, compared to FM4, and FM5.

The career races were the type that basically made you stick it out or not bother with them. I've been playing the gave as of recently, and I've just come to notice how much more flushed out the career races are compared to all other FM games. It goes all the way into endurance races, which all the other FM games up to FM5 have lacked.

There were endurance races in FM3, some went for over an hour or longer. Although I think only for the R1/R2 class cars. Endurance races need to return for all classes.

The chase cam is slowly turning into a helicopter cam, it offers a huge advantage in visibility over bumper, bonnet and cockpit. Not surprised people use it.

When i'm racing I use cockpit view for immersion. For hot lapping i have to use chase cam to get fast times.
I just can't judge the dimensions of the cars well enough to be able to use the optimum amount of the track or hit the perfect lines.

I think it's partly due to most of the cars in-game being left-hand drive. After driving tens of thousands of km's in RHD cars in my life, driving from the LHD perspective kind of puts me off.
I use the "rear-cockpit" view in Pcars(can't recall if that's the actual name of it) that centres the camera and is zoomed out a bit, I really like that view.

If Microsoft were really savvy they'd use the Windows 10 connection stuff to let you stream your own music from your computer to your Xbox while you play games. I guess that's too pro-consumer compared to getting you to sub to Groove on both.

Well they don't even let you stream music from Groove in the background yet, either.

i turn off the music in race, the menu music puts me to sleep between races though. Forza used to have cool music...

But there's nothing Groove can do on Xbox One that apps like the Media Player and Plex can't? When background audio works for one, it'll work for them all.
Ah? Let's hope so. I don't really have the setup to be playing game and PC audio through the same speakers. I was hoping the streaming gameplay on your PC thing would allow for that, but it is complete garbage for me and others while apparently working perfectly for some, so I don't know what's going on with that. I find it odd that they had picture in picture TV watching with gameplay (something almost impossible to do while playing a game) yet don't have music in the background, which is something literally every single streamer has.

But you give up so much information. Even in a triple monitor setup, it's still not like sitting in the driver's seat of an actual car imho.
I only use chase cam for FM5's bullshit cone challenge events. Otherwise, it's 100% cockpit. To me, the feel of actually driving a car in a racing game is something I don't compromise on.

True, there is some info missing... But I don't think the solution is to have a camera angle that gives far more information than you would have when piloting a vehicle...

I can't compromise the authenticity for making the game far easier than driving should be...

Why the hell people complain about the music? Love music in Forza 5 and I really hoped it will stay the same in FM6 and I'm glad it did. If you want normal music then use your own custom soundtrack, dramatic music is awesome :D

Please, tell me more.

Christ that theme - I can already her the 'A' button being pressed in my head ready for a go of the Mugello demo for the millionth time.

It feels like pretentious gran turismo music. It's also just boring. Horizon got me into new artists, as did Forza 2 with catchy stuff.

The majority of my music collection is classical but I always turn music off in my racing games so I don't really care if the music is any good. GT5 had a really good soundtrack though so if they're going that route with Forza it'd be cool.

It's so rare to see a game use classical music though. Just let us have this one.

The brake lights don't seem to work properly in the Audi and Hurican vids. At least not all the cars do. When the 3rd light goes on, the regular ones don't get brighter as well.

Well it's hard to complain about a feature because you refuse to use it, drivatars are already very much like racing online already.

But the whole argument was about racing regulations, which AI behaviour have nothing to do about.

You can put me against an accurated recreated Lewis Hamilton drivatar and it'd still feel silly if we raced in different spec cars, like someone else mentioned, without proper rules and all.

But I don't expect you to get this. The game sounds cool, great production values and attention to detail everywhere. It just happens to not be for me. Is it for you? Awesome.

I want racing games to simulate racing, not only driving dynamics. Forza and Gran Turismo are arcade games that happens to have good physics, which doesn't float my boat anymore.

Nothing wrong with put a touring car against a prototype just for the lolz if there are people out there who doesn't care about this. I just got tired of that kind of racing silliness.

Probably because the build is old (same as E3). A newer one is shown by Dan during the briefings here:
http://www.gamersyde.com/news_gc_forza_6_presentation-16931_en.html

As you can see the Ford GT has a functional active spoiler which was not the case in the E3 demo build and the car leaves tire tracks on the water soaked asphalt (which again wasn't present in the E3 build).

The same thing happened last year with FH2: cars didn't have functional active spoilers in the E3 build and the sky was rendered without any was atmospheric haze.

Ok so I just got home and watched this at 1080p 60 on the PC....I was on my phone before.

and now the game is officially a pass. Something is just not sitting right with me. I am right in the thick of things with project cars on Ps4 and I find that its doing everything better sans the car count. I am playing with a T500rs on the PS4 and was about to get the Thrustmaster TX for the Xbone for this game and these videos saved me quite a bit of money. I dont know what it is about the game that looks off to me but it just seems......boring? uninspired? lifeless? in comparison to the experiences im getting with project cars.

But I will admit that Dan Greenawalt is a fucking PR saint as I feel I NEED to buy this day one regardless of my thought process. Forza is embedded in my DNA and its all due to Greenawalts wizardry

Lol. Yeah. The only thing embedded in your DNA more than Forza is bullshit.

No need to act like I killed your mother.

wet weather? PCars
track count? Pcars
Sound? Pcars
handlind options ? pcars
view? pcars

Forza is not the end all and be all and its amazing to see how far a crowed funded game has come when compared to the guys at the top. Im sure forza will be great but its not leaps and bounds better than what is available. And when you have a 2015 line up that would kill anyones social life some things need to be cut for some people and its unfortunate its this game for ME for NOW.

This is what I mean...
Both games have really weirdly sharp light cones at night. They need softer falloff. And racing in the rain looks like a pain, especially in PCars where you don't see shit following cars. Does F6 have different degrees of bad weather or is it all or nothing? I believe it's the latter but hopefully I'm wrong.

I feel the exact same way about Gran Turismo. As far as im concerned, Pcars shit all over the entire fanboy debate because it brings everything to the table that you want from a sim. Minus a few things here and there, but as far as delivering damn near photo-real accurate sim? They did a good job with PCars. Time of day/weather on all tracks also, you forgot to mention. Its going to be interesting to see what f7/gt(8) do in response to Pcars, as I'd just flat out like to see this effort put into all sims moving forward this gen.

You're about to get a lot of shit for obvious reasons, But.. I see what you're saying. Pcars reminds me of the games I want.

Track count is the only advantage I will give PC, the AI is worse, the cars are over grippy, the rain causes a reduction in friction and nothing else. Handling options? Don't know what you're referring to here but the FFB has been all over the place since launch. Sound is also way over exaggerated in PC, I understand some people prefer it being loud for loudness sake but its not more realistic. Also the game is STILL full of bugs months after release.

Its your opinion and you're free to not buy the game but no need to come in here and praise PC as the end all be all, while bringing down Forza in a Forza thread. There are many threads to do that in.

I suppose you could turn the brightness up when you play Forza 6.
Yea it looks dark in rain in cockpit sadly

I'm sure it's probably realistic as hell. They probably measured it with a light meter for crying out loud, but sometimes you have to take license for fun

Thread crapping was not my intent so it will end here. Im not out to change minds but simply state mine as a forza fan after experiencing other options. I am still just as eager as you to see a new video/picture because I do still love the series but in such a competitive market competition is healthy and it seems forza is playing it a bit too safe, albeit they did introduce night/weather....after everyone else. We all know devs visit these forums so expressing our opinions only helps everyone out there, especially when it comes from fans.

I have owned and played PC since launch and the game is not polished enough to be mentioned with GT/Forza.

And to just pop in after watching a video and sing the praises of PC and claim you're now not buying Forza seems very odd and fishy.

it seems forza is playing it a bit too safe, .

I think you should play it before rendering a verdict. I believe they are going to have a demo like FH2 did. I will say this, Forza 5 is still the only nexgen console racer doing 1080p60fps with no drops. And if comments from Mr. Greenawalt are to believed Forza 6 will have the same top notch performance with rain, night, and 24 cars on track. I'm reserving judgement until I actually play the game. Just a month to go.

Someone mentioned the car sounds in Project Cars being too loud and basically unrealistic.

How do you all feel about the sounds in FM3-FM5?

I feel like the sounds went to a nasty gain-mess after FM2. It's almost like all of the cars have race exhaust automatically installed.

Honestly, I don't really see how anyone could seriously give PCars the advantage for "wet weather" over Forza 6. That's kinda ridiculous imo.

I think you give FM2 a bit to much credit, you seem to praise it as the last good Forza while overlooking all its shortcomings. As for the audio I haven't played 3 or 4 recently to give an accurate comparison, but 5 is leaps and bounds above anything they were doing on the 360.

you are kind of overrating pc, its unpolished on consoles, don't think it ever really reaches 60 on xbox one

Doesn't PCars have dynamic weather? Could start off foggy and transition to a clear, sunny day? I think 'that' is where it has a leg up for weather stuff. Might pick it up used to tide me over for forza.

Having said that, the visuals in the Rio circuit are just gorgeous. I am pretty excited now!

Yea, it an advantage with dynamic weather. But when the weather is "wet", one actually has proper puddles and car reaction, and the other just applies a universal handling modifier... which had to even be patched in order for even that to apply to the AI. PCars isn't even competitive with PGR4 and Sega Rally Revo for wet weather.
