I think Karin has a good chance to come back, seeing how the first non-sf2 characters were Nash and Birdie, two guys who haven't been back since Alpha 3. The other two characters who haven't been back since Alpha 3 are...Karin and R. Mika (well, there are people like Ingrid from the portable releases but come on). If Capcom wants to mix popular characters with people who haven't been back in a long time, Karin is a good option. That said, Nash and Birdie are from Alpha 1, dunno if Ono has any reason to prefer people from the first two Alphas as opposed to Alpha 3. The only person brought from Alpha 3 is Cody, and the only remaining character to come back from Alpha 2 is Sodom. My guess is that Sodom has a good chance to come back...some years down the line as DLC.

That said, the truth is that a bunch of hardcore fans wanting her to come back is veeery different from her being more popular than Sakura. She is not.
 
You would think people would want a returning fresh face like Karin first. Sakura and Karin both could use an older appearance and redesign.

They didn't say that. The poll was conducted years before SF5 was announced. It was actually conducted before PS4 and Xbox1 were even announced.

"We are gathering feedback from consumers on their favorite Street Fighter characters. This data will be used to inform future product development, licensing and marketing activities around the Street Fighter brand. "

This means different things to different people. True, some people will vote for rare characters we haven't seen in a while. Many, many, MANY will vote for their mains (as evidenced by Ryu topping the list...a character already guaranteed to be in every SF game).

The fact that Q and Karin did so well, despite each only being playable in ONE canon SF game is amazing. So, yes, that is a strong case for Karin genuinely being more popular than Sakura at the moment. Sakura has way more exposure, yet Karin STILL got more votes.
 
Karin was an interesting mix of Rekka and having a 360 command grab, would like to see them try and expand on her gameplay.

Both Yang and Fei have a command throw now. I doubt her command throw would be a 360 anymore.

I'd like to see them do something interesting with the rekka archetype. Angel from KoF is still tops blooby.

Karin's rekka's weren't straight forward though, afte rthe Initial QCF+P you can input any number of follow ups.
 
Because it doesn't really add much to his gameplay outside of combo heavy games, it just looks cool

As far as mainline SF goes it just overlaps with his tatsu

Yeah, I like it but not sure how it could be utilized. I still wish he had it and Ken had his CvS2/Sean's wheel kick. Every character should have a minimum of 4 special moves, except for maybe Guile.

Then why would Elena and Poison top so many poll pre-USF4 / SFxT . Then drop once they are added in games.

Q,Karin,Mika..etc are all bound to remain on the top until they are added to the game.

Character popularity changes all the time , Check out some of the pre-ssf4 polls and it will be vastly different than how things are now.

They all seemed like filler moves to me. Different inputs without practical gameplay use.

Well two of her enders are counters, one high and one low. Her standing kick ender would launch her opponents for juggles. Her up + kick was an overhead. You could change the timings for her elbows to fish for counter hits.

Another fun thing about Karin is that her Rekka enders were also special moves by themselves.

Joudan could have been Ryu's alpha-counter/V-reversal instead of his punch thingy. Would have been a nice visual nod to SF3.

Speaking of additional special moves, has anyone figured out how to use Bison's punch specials effectively? I recall his Raging Storm (Psycho Inferno) being used for an unsafe block string/chip by JWong, and I've seen the EX Fireball (Psycho Blast) used a handful of times in total. Are they just combo enders and extremely-situational anti-airs?

EDIT: They function as combo fillers/linkers in V-Trigger mode, apparently.

Maybe pan the image up a few pixels to crop out Nash's finger. Also the pose looks more dynamic with the upper arm in there. Though either way I think they both look good.

I felt that something with "Characters" font banner seem off. I'm not sure if it's just me being criticizing of my own work or gradient effect or/and paintbrush font seem odd.

It's not bad or anything, it just looks like a generic version of the "Street Fighter" font, if that makes sense. Like it's almost there, but not quite, so when compared to that it looks off.
 
Ryu had the donkey kick in UMvC3, or some variation of it. It caused a wall bounce.

Why does the combo counter reset in those Karin combos?

Because it's the one point in the combo where you're able to air tech. However you don't really have invincibility during air techs (unlike most games), so it's best to just not manually tech at all. Video was just demonstrating which part.

Try making it black with only the shadows.

I like that you are reusing Mahvel's font :p
 
For whatever reason it's hardly in his movelist in many of the game's he's been in after SF3.
I'm guessing it's to keep him simple and straight forward? Was glad it was in SFxT and I think in UMvC3?
Since Capcom's fighting games resurrection, isn't SFIV the only fighting game where Ryu didn't have it? TvC, MvC, SFxT and Smash U all do have it!

I'm guessing it is to keep him close to his most known ver. which is SF2.
Besides can't he juggle off his Tornado Kick and EX ver. of too? The way he's handled in SF5 likely makes his Stallion Kick unneeded I guess.
 
lol. Juri is pretty obvious. wonder when they are going to announce her inclusion.

September: veteran
October: newcomer and veteran
November: veteran
December: Newcomer
January: veteran
February: newcomer for closure of inital roster like Hakan.
PSX is a very important event for Sony, and they'll have the Capcom Cup finals which obviously will be important for Capcom and SF fans.

So I'd bet they'll want to announce something there to really hype already existing SF fans. This fits better with a highly requested returning, popular character.
