Destiny PSA: Xur's selling the Gjallerhorn this week

I haven't played the game since last November, when I deleted it due to the changes the first DLC brought. I just downloaded and installed it, and saw that I had only 13 strange coins. If the weekly mission was available for me, it wouldn't be an issue.
 
I'll log in to buy this if nothing else to justify all the time I wasted trying to get one of these to drop, then never touch the damn game again.
 
Im putting Destiny on for first time in ages just to get this after work. Hope I've got enough strange coins.

Was the only exotic I didnt get for months.
 
Never thought I'd get a Gjallahorn. I'd come to accept it. Today is a good day.

(My first exotic was Hawkmoon. It has served me well.)

That's the plan - I recently came back to the game with the goal of doing all the content I bought and never touched (I got pulled into WoW before the Crota expansion). This will help immensely.

It's annoying when it's integral to certain strategies and you're expected to have one or some other very powerful rocket. Even GAF players who are nice to a fault do it sometimes. But in that case it's more of a 'well I guess this will be harder' which just makes you feel bad for being a drag.

don't think any content really needs a Gjally, i managed to do all of them just fine without one, none of it was particularly hard. the only one i can think of is maybe Level 34 PoE Vex boss. that was a bitch without one.

I never got the Gally despite playing the game from day one.

I'd be a fool not to reinstall the game to acquire right?
 
I've booted Destiny 1 time in the last 5 months. Here I sit twitching slightly thinking I need to get home after work and purchase the Gally. Just to have the damn thing.. From what I understand though TTK is going to nerf Gally but also you won't be able to upgrade "Season 1" equipment/guns. So something better will be available in less than 1 months time. Probably not worth the coins. Besides if I did log in and buy it, I'd get it the first major drop when I play TTK for the first time.. Just to spite me.

I got the Gjallahorn the first time Xur came to the tower.

Guess I'll jump back in to get another one ¯_(ツ)_/¯
 
It was a sign! Game gives me 9 strange coins last week from the postmaster and then another 9 this week! Finally!
 
This was my very first raid loot way back when I was playing. I had no idea what I had.

I may start playing again after the expansion, if it came with whatever season pass I bought at the time.

Same perk. Some Exotics have hidden perks for some reason. Truth has hidden Tripod for example, Thunderlord has something like Firefly (more damage but less consistent), MIDA has some sort of stagger buff despite being low impact. Lots of Exotics are deceiving that way.

Hawkmoon has Fatebringer-tier impact, but does Timur's/I'll Will damage despite the faster RoF because of Aggressive Ballistics for instance.
 
Who would waste their coins and exotic slot for a heavy exotic weapon?

Buying 3 as soon as I get off from work.

You won't be able to upgrade the damage from legendaries (purples), but exotics (yellow) will be untouched. Also, "nerfing Gjallarhorn" is a relative term - the Wolfpack round damage is being reduced but most people expect it to still be one of, if not the, strongest RL in the overall game, especially when upgraded to Year 2 numbers.

I'm not going to get it though. Probably pick up the Insurmountable Skullfort instead.
 
Lol after the nerf news I knew they'd do this at some point before TTK. At least people can use it for a month at it's full power before then.

Yes and with all our legendary weapons getting thrown out of the windows, we need more than ever our trusty Gjally to board that dreadnought and face unknown dangers
 
Amazing. This is better than Christmas morning. Been playing since day one and I finally will get a ghorn. What a day. What a glorious day.

And less than 24 hours later Xur is selling it....

Enjoy that Ghorn man!

I still remember exactly when I got my first one from the Gorgon chest in March. Took me 6 months but that's probably one of my favorite gaming moments ever when I finally got it to drop.

Completely anecdotal but we've observed in the OT that the drop rate for Exotics seems significantly higher the week Xur is gonna sell something. Maybe there's a link, maybe it's false pattern recognition.

At any rate, congrats on the Horn :) doesn't really make a difference where you got it.
