Destiny PSA: Xur's selling the Gjallerhorn this week

Gjallarhorn was my very first exotic when the game launched. I write dislike the proximity explosion because I'll try to fire it at the boss and it'll blow up on a shank in front of him. Got to get the target luck then fire aiming up to arc it.

Cockblock him for selling it all year, then they obliviously stealth patch Xur invantory with hot fix 1.2.0.5. Then they nurf it.
Bungie clearly made efforts to keep it away from players until THEY felt it was time for us to have it.
Never change Bungie.

Glad folks finally get to play with it tho.

looks like Adam Boyes likes this game...

Damn, I didn't even see. Go get it! I want to read the community thread when the news broke.

I never thought this would happen. I guess it coincides with the impending nerf, but it will still be awesome.

so here's the random question of the week. I bought vanilla destiny, never touched the expansions, and TTK has me kind of intrigued. I only have like 11 coins. Is it worth it (or even possible) to farm up the 6 coins before xur leaves that I would need to pick up one of these bad boys?

What's your level and have you done the weekly strike? If you're underleveled somebody in the community thread would probably be willing to drag you through the weekly to get the coins. I haven't done them in so long, but I think level 28 is worth 6 coins.

Oh crap, I didn't see the weekly was Omnigul. Do you not have the expansions or have you just not played them?

Otherwise, the highest strike playlist you can do is your best bet. I've definitely grinded out 6 coins from strikes (you get them from engrams) before, but it's a chore.

it is possible but it's quite a bit of effort since you can't play the weekly that gives you 9 coins and you can't play Prison of Elders that gives you a few.
ultimately i would say no, while it still will be a great weapon in TTK it won't be a deal breaker if you don't have one.

Does having multiple copies of the same weapon do anything?

Why buy more Horns if you already have one?

Back then before the transfer app was created, players have to go back to the tower, put the gjallarhorn into the vault, load up their second character load into the tower and take it out of th vault then it continues to their third character. It was a bloody hassle if you're doing 3 x Nightfalls/3 x Crota/ 3 x Atheon. Now with the app it has become a bloody hassle to a slight annoyance so still people rather buy 3 of the same weapon so they can't be bother in swapping their weapons be it vault or app.

Have they nerfed it or is that happening with the TK patch? Still an extremely fun weapon either way, glad more people get to experience it.

Got my Gjallarhorn a couple weeks in at lvl 26 clearing Vex mobs on Venus Patrol(all praise be to RNGesus). This was at a time, mind you, when people were championing Truth as the most powerful weapon in the game.

I haven't logged on in about 5 months now. I think I blew everything I had on garbage before I logged off, lol. I guess I'll take a look tonight just in case...

So Destiny finally clicked with me after having it since launch and I hit level 23 the other day and only have two strange coins. Is it at all doable to earn 15 more before this disappears or not? I'm no raider, I like PvP if that matters.

They should've named this RL "HUNGER OF GJALLARHORNLESS" because those were the only people using it.

It's a very good rocket launcher, though obviously not going to do the DPS the 'Horn will. The main advantage is it doesn't take up an exotic slot, so I can roll Fourth Horseman alongside it.

Get 9 from doing weekly heroic strike on hard mode. Also has matchmaking

Finally ha ha. What annoys me is whenever you want to join some destiny game with people, they literally want max everything and always an ghorn. I don't even agree it's so OP, but I guess I'll find out now and I'm more happy about not being shunned because I don't own one gun anymore.

You will see soon enough how OP it is. It's comical.
For instance:
Omnigul lasts less than a minute against three Ghalli's

Isn't this gun about to be nerfed heavily?
Meh. Even after whatever % nerf, it's still a rocket launcher with 7 rockets, tracking, proximity detonation and additional tracking projectiles. In any situation that you would want to use a rocket launcher it's still going to be good no matter what; count on it.

I think maybe the more germane thing to bring up is that Bungie might be confident that they're about to release one or more other weapons you'll feel compelled to give up the Exotic slot for.

Please not just 1!

It is very coincidental. But yes, it'll still be a very powerful RL

It's not like it's the first time XUR has sold it. I am sure that he will sell it again as well. I'll still be buying a couple though.

I haven't played in a while, but I'm pretty sure this is only the 2nd time. The first was before anyone knew it was OP.

Fourth Horseman, what's that?

:(
You must be an Xbox player. The 4th Horseman is an exotic shotgun exclusive to PS players. It goes all "bang, bang, bang, bang, [FINAL ROUND PERK] BANG."
The first week Skolas has Arc burn was the day he met my 4th Horseman.
But don't worry, come tTK everyone will be blessed with Monte Carlo, 4th Horseman, AND (the slightly nerfed) Hawkmoon.

Don't play on PS4 but 4th Horseman seems like a weaker Lord of Wolves. the Lord of Wolves is sooooooooo damn fun to play with
