Bought a two day ticket. Not even sure if I'll go. I'd love to, but gotta figure out logistics and see if any friends are willing to go.

Otherwise, I'll have to meet some gaffers there!

That could be fun! Plenty of good places to drink both in SOMA and the TL (and you won't get stabbed. promise.). Tempest is a block or two form Moscone and is hands-down the best watering hole in SOMA that isn't a pretentious tech magnet.

oh shit... yup, buying a ticket for the girlfriend now as well.

It's a Rocket League reference.
But yeah, pumped for psx :) someone should set up a Gaf meet once we're closer to the event.

Got my two-day tix.

Anyone in SF Bay Area-GAF going as well? Maybe do a meet-up?

There should definitely be one.

Don't worry guys. I got that covered. If a Local wants to help organize it with me, shoot me a PM. I can always use local help(especially when it comes to picking a venue since I'm not local).

Oh yeah, that event that had that FFVII on PS4 announcement.

I don't care if I got a proper remake announcement 8 months later, that tore through my soul.
After what they pulled last year, this event is the perfect place to debut something FF VII Remake related.

Didn't Verendus say in the past that Sony was working on some big JRPG that was on the level of Final Fantasy?
yea he did...but he also gave us a time frame on projects for almost 3/4 of the Gen. No telling when these things will be announced.

He also said there was a new Suikoden coming...

I'm pretty sure Verendus says both right things and stuff he makes up. I guess he wouldn't be able to keep talking if he only said the right stuff though...
not sure what you are on about, verendus has been pretty spot on. He doesn't say these things are likely to get announced soon. He even PM'd me long before Ken got announced in SFV to let me know I'm good. He stated plans and deals change, but I would take his word on It 95% of the time.

I mean he confirmed FF7 remake and DQ coming back to PS how long ago?

Can't wait to see what the Sega game is and level 5s baby.

My conjecture: Gran Turismo 7 will be announced (if not already at Paris Games Week given it's a big European event and GT is king in Europe), and support for Project Morpheus launch in May 2016.

Just my guess, but GT6 was like 6 months since announcement and PlayStation Experience would be a great opportunity to have a big splash, perhaps even playable at PSX.

If it's playable at PSX, I'll cry tears of joy.

When is Paris Games Week?

Im not sure how right this is but in another thread a poster claimed that on a recent konami report they either stated or hinted that a suikoden games development had been halted. Cant remember the thread or the poster.
¯_(ツ)_/¯

What value is there in crash? Will activision part with it?

Crash is still a well known franchise, an IP that if a new title was announced would create a lot of noise.
The younger crowd that grew up with Crash Bandicoot originally during PS1 are now adults with families of their own to share these games with that they grew up on, and that would be a big factor especially if Sony want to expand the PS4 userbase with the more 'Casual' audience, and having classic titles like a Crash Bandicoot would sell a lot. Anecdotally, I see on Facebook all the time when people 'Like' pictures with stuff like "If you know who this is you're childhood was awesome" type of posts (Maybe not with that specific wording)with tens of thousands of likes, it still resonates with a part of the gaming audience.

If Activision will part with it is another matter, but after all they are a business and if Sony offered them the right amount for an IP that hasn't had anything major since PS2 and beginning of Xbox 360 it would be a solid deal. Worth noting that Sony has been on really good terms with Activision this generation. Solid marketing partner with Destiny and now Call of Duty.

And then they say it was not actually in development, it was just a possible project that was pushed even farther off. It's really not the kind of state to show other companies, specially considering Konami...

But hey, if people want to blindly believe everything Verendus says, I'm not stopping them...

Aha! Found it. Regarding PSAS successor.

All Stars is a conflicting title to me. A title along those lines is something I've always wanted, so when it was initially unveiled, I was quite excited. But it soon became apparent that it was lacking a solid creative direction, and that it wasn't really being given the kind of attention that it really needed to be successful. That was all just a feeling at the time though. Now that I know better, it really is incredibly disappointing how this game was handled.

The right people were not in charge of this, and it's a perfect example of the kind of title SCE was wasting money with during the PS3 generation. It's not the only one of its kind, but it's alarming to me that someone actually decided to greenlight this project, but then leave it to pretty much die. From a lack of support, to a pathetic budget, to the wrong creative direction, to a poor foundation, terrible marketing, to just not caring and pushing it out there so that it would get out of the way. It's one of those cases of throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. There were many instances of this last generation, and this was one of them.

It's shocking to me that it managed to push over a million copies considering how much it was mismanaged. Those copies are all thanks to core fans, and those who were going to buy this game regardless.

The focus of this game should have been to create a great game. That comes first. It's not about relying on "starpower" because even if that's there, if the game is lacking, it's not going to end well. This was the first problem. The core design was a huge problem because they went to great lengths imitating something else, only to introduce something that complicated their messaging at the end of it all. The second problem was the marketing and management team not respecting the fanbase. The core audience to be focused on initially were the Playstation fans. Take care of them first. Create a good game, and don't frustrate this core audience, because these million or so fans are going to be your foundation. Then great word of mouth, a great game, and solid marketing will help take you further. The rest you can focus on later. The game needs a solid foundation initially, and a focused vision. You need to establish a fanbase. Just because millions of people know who Sackboy or Kratos or Drake are, doesn't mean they're going to buy a fighting game for them. Those franchises sell for their own reasons, and you have an uphill battle to climb to establish a strong foundation, and appeal to a larger audience outside of die hard fans.

Instead, on top of a shaky foundation, decisions were made to include characters like Dante, Big Daddy, and even Raiden, all of which generated a backlash and made a tough job even tougher. If the support is that lacking that no one capable is really going to push to get the third party characters fans would really want, don't do the asinine move and get what people will consider leftovers. In addition to that, the terrible presentation, lack of polish, and lack of general content. I could write a lot more, but it just irritates me. I hate stupidity, especially with something that I feel is an easy sell for the most part. This was such a terrible way to do this project, because the right people who could make that difference from high up simply didn't care enough.

There'll be another crossover. It'll be done right this time.

Verendus, is you are reading this thread. Whats the status on this new playstation mascot brawler. And who's developing it? :)

Also, I strongly agree with your points.

If this thread is at least half as crazy as the last one, where in for a ride.

I still remember that amazing prediction post that included a helicopter, paramedics, and live birth. What a thread.

Time to remove the shackles of conservatism and embrace the hype train. My updated predictions for the keynote:

Show opens with a trailer for new Crash. Thunderous applause.
The applause transitions into screams as Jack Tretton, who has been temporarily reinstated as head of SCEA for 2 hours, takes the stage to MC the event.
Announces a PS4 price-drop to $149. All existing PS4 owners are gifted $200 into their PSN accounts as a thank you to launch-window buyers. Can barely hear him over the screams.
The lights dim as a trailer for Horizon, now named 'Emagon' is shown. The graphical fidelity of the dinosaurs causes several attendees to become hysterical. Paramedics take them away and call for backup.
The SEGA logo illuminates the screen. Shenmu 1 & 2 HD collection announced, bundled freely with Shenmu 3, exclusive to PS4.
Kojima takes the stage. MGS5 now PS4 exclusive. MGS 1, 2 and 3 to be remade in the Fox Engine for PS4. As is Snatcher. Norman Reedus and Del Toro join him on stage for a 10 minute gameplay demo of Silent Hills. Tears stream down the faces of the audience the entire time.
Boyes sprints on stage dressed as Santa Claus, complete with Santa’s Sack. ‘I have some more gifts for you” he says, causing uncontrollable trembling in all present.
Suikoden I & II are available for download NOW on PSN, including optional fully orchestrated soundtrack.
Did somebody say Dino Crisis 4? Yes. Adam Boyes did, JUST NOW. He makes an awkward joke about PS4 being the undisputed home of dinosaurs. The reveal trailer shows Regina in a mech-suit fighting a T-Rex, 12 Raptors and a misguided Stegosaurus atop a mountain during a hurricane.
Boyes drops his Santa Sack on the floor and opens it. Shinji Hashimoto jumps out. The audience has been crying for so long that large swaths of people are losing brain function due to low salt-levels.
He doesn’t need to ask people to please be excited; there isn’t a dry seat in the room. New trailer shown for Kingdom Hearts. Mandy Moore is back as Aerith. FFXV world map shown, and 2015 release date revealed. “One more thing.” Audience holds its breath. FFVII HD remaster trailer shown. PS4 exclusive. Many audience members forget to resume breathing. The death count is getting out of control.
Amid the chaos, Chris Metzen takes the stage. PS4 exclusive Starcraft Ghost revealed. Paramedics have to restrain a man from clawing his own eyes out, such is the intensity of the reveal trailer.
Tretton takes the stage, visibly shaken by the carnage before him. But the show must go on. Let’s talk about firmware (it’s a Sony conference). Suspend resume available next week. PSN name changes sorted out, PS2 trophy support.
A turnbuckle and wrestling ropes rise from the stage, and Shu rushes towards it and reaches over with his outstretched hand. Tretton tags him in.
Medieval, Dark Cloud, Syphon Filter, Colony Wars and Wip3out have all been green-lit for PS4 games. The amount of happening in the room is causing cracks to appear in the walls of the theatre.
Kratos appears on screen. He's fighting the Gods of ancient Norse mythology. Trailer concludes with him disembowling Odin with a Dane Axe.
Naughty Dog logo appears. First footage of the Uncharted movie is shown. Wow, they really nailed the casting of Drake. Hang on. No? It couldn’t be? It’s actually photo-realistic 60fps 1080p gameplay footage of Uncharted 4. The stress of seeing UC4 gameplay causes a woman in the front row to go into premature labour. She wasn’t even pregnant when the show began.
Tretton thanks people for attending and watching at home. They still have new gameplay of Bloodbourne, The Order, No Man’s Sky, EGTTR, Rime, Wild, The Witness, Shadow of the Beast and more, but emergency rooms are at breaking point. Too much hype has been spilled this day.
“Oh, just one more thing”
The Last Guardian lives. Chunks of concrete fall from the ceiling, crushing those below. The room can’t handle all of the feels pulsating out of gamers as they bask in the glory of the gameplay trailer. The audience is too transfixed to run. When the June 2015 launch date is revealed the internet as we once knew it is dead. People watching at home scramble to put batteries in CB radios, hoping to pick up military chatter about the PSX event.
Only one attendee remains alive in the theatre. His glasses shattered while watching Sora, Donald and Goofy wage battle with Prince Hans, sparing his eyes from what followed. Scrambling over the corpses in the theatre, he takes refuge under a desk with Jack Tretton.
“Is it over?” he asks Jack tentatively.
“Yes” sighs Jack. “Well, except for one more thing”
The roof explodes, allowing a helicopter to lower someone down onto the stage.
It’s Gaben. Half-life 3 confirmed. Console exclusive on PS4. Available for download on Steam and PS4 RIGHT NOW.

If it eventuates it’d only be a solid 7/10 show because no Mass Effect or Fallout.

Currently going through last year's PSX thread...
