Just booked it all. Too bad it's 18 and over, I was planning on taking the kids. I got the $135 Capcom one. Went last year and loved it and can't wait for this one.

Pretty lousy to have a community event but not allow kids to enter.

Does insurance skyrocket when kids come into the picture?

I guess I'll just save money until it gets closer and get to PSX in a short notice and have some fun

SF is very public transit friendly. Between Muni, Bart, Caltrain, taxis, and Uber, you won't have a problem getting anywhere. It's not as good as NYC, but if you're coming from Sac, you won't have an issue. The city is also very small compared to other major cities and much of it is within walking distance.

If you're coming form the Days Inn, the transit is pretty easy. The city is in Millbrae and is right between the San Bruno and Millbrae BART train stops. Go with San Bruno BART station as that's a tiny bit cheaper.

First, you need to get to the San Bruno BART station. The hotel sits on El Camino Real which is run frequently by Samtrans. The entire street runs the Samtrans bus ECR line. Hop on that to get you directly to the San Bruno BART station. If a bus is too slow for you, schedule an Uber instead. By bus, it's about 15-20 minutes. By UBER, it's about 10 if they just ride El Camino all the way there.

Once at the San Bruno station, you want to head north on the Pittsburgh Baypoint line. Stay on it until the Powell street station - that's where you will get off. Montgomery street works too. DO NOT get off at Embarcadero as that's much too far. From Powell or Montgomery stations, the convention center is 2 blocks away walking.

Alternatively, from Millbrae, you can take Caltrain into the city. You just have to get to the Millbrae Caltrain station. Caltrain does not put you as close to the convention center as BART does, but the difference is about 5 minutes walking from the Powell BART station or 15 minutes walking from Caltrain. You can also take MUNI to the Powell station if you want to, but I think walking would be better and just cheaper all around. Uber is also an option.

You can also hit up google maps at any time and select the TRANSIT option as your mode of transportation and it will guide you as well. Here's a direct link for it - this is set for August 15th so you will have to recheck closer to the day of.

You don't know The Mooch?

He's made appearances on thecrapgamer podcasts.

The podcasts generally go along the line of how great MS are and how media bias and consumer idiocy stops the XB1 from selling. Mooch is usually on hand to tell us how sly Japanese companies are and how much they don't care about Americans and "laugh in their faces" by offering the PS4.

xbox one vs PS4: quality vs. sales

Warning, this is crazy, conspiracy territory.

Please don't mention those idiots here.

Are you guys ready for Godness of War? The God of War Reboot starring a female lead? Now with Egypt and Norse Mithology! Coming March 2017.

Surprise me, Santa Monica.

thanks for the help and I'll get their someway and somehow. Is everybody going to go to the Capcom Cup ?

Yeah I have never gone to any type of convention or Esports tournament (Capcom Cup) , it makes it worth it plus the PSX Conference should have at least 1 meltdown moment but hope for anything awesome and watching it live is cool

Only way they can top last years FFVII troll is to trot out someone from Valve and have them name drop Half Life on stage and then announce a new Left 4 Dead or something.

If they can make that happen they should do it.

More announcements? Lets gooooo

Yeah right don't you know Sony skipped Gamescom because they have no announcements. They are getting arrogant and coasting on third party deals and buying Japanese timed exclusives. We all know Dragonquest XI and other Japanese games will come to the XB1 6-12 months later.

Gaben walks on stage...

"Half Life is coming to PlayStation 4 with...Orange Box HD Remake"

My last hope for a new socom announcement. If it doesn't happen, I think this is my last generation of console gaming and I finally take the brave leap to PC to get my tactical shooting love fulfilled.

It's a joke that makes fun of some of the criticism surrounding Sony's lack of a presser at GC which some people took at "nomoregaemstoannounce", and in the same note, downplays that the PGW conference will even matter, because apparently the scope of the event determines how big of a press conference it'll be.

Just like how PSX's conference, which is nothing more than a Sony fan-event announced nothing last year because why would anyone announce anything at a fan event without precedence? /s

Assuming they don't get announced at TGS or PGW then this would be the perfect time to announce PSOne and PS2 classics(and maybe even PSP classics), with an "available" now kind of announcement.
Sony plz

Wasn't this in Vegas last year? Pretty cool if they host it in different regions of the country every year. If they can come to within driving distance I would definitely go, never been to anything like this videogame related. Flights to SF are ridiculously expensive.

Hey i take offence to that. My concerns are very real remember 2013, when Microsoft barely did a press conference and everyone was like Microsoft probably has nothing to show, and this a huge win for Sony.

If Microsoft is not at PGW and PSX its because they have so much to show that it cant possibly fit, so they instead skip both. Sony is only doing these 4 press conferences because they have nothing to show i mean FF7R,TLG,Shenmue 3,Horizon,Dreams are not really games E3 worthy, they are small games nobody will care about. I mean where was the announcement of a new controller and a amazingly
fake
demo of Hololens Minecraft.

For one, TGS is generally light on 1st-party announcements/big game updates. It's a conference where Sony doesn't get negative limelight even if they don't give significant updates on their big games (Uncharted, etc) or don't announce new 1st-party exclusives, because 60-70% of their TGS presser are comprised of 3rd-party exclusives. So even if Sony shows nothing new from Horizon, Uncharted or TLG at TGS, it doesn't matter.

On the contrary, SCEE (Gamescom/PGW)'s conference is generally very first-party heavy. In the past 2 Gamescom conferences, they've announced 4-5 new games at the European event each time, and while they're not huge AAA blockbusters normally reserved for E3, they're still sizable game reveals. And that's on top of their usual updates for 1st-party games, like gameplay reveal for Bloodborne, etc.

So, out of all the Sony press conferences, SCEE's press conference is probably the one that leans most heavily on ensuring that their first-party are all ready to show something new, instead of retreading old ground, or just only having 1 game ready to be revealed/announced. Jim Ryan spoke last year about how their Gamescom event are ones which showcases the more unique, quirky side of Sony's line-up, and I don't expect that to change with PGW.

As for PSXP, with only one event as a precursor, it's hard to tell what's their overall PSXP announcement/reveal strategy. Hopefully this year we'll get a clearer picture of what kind of announce strategy they'll have for PSXP.

I live like 20 minutes away and even I'm wary of losing 60 dollars if the experience is mediocre. It could be fun though, so maybe I'll go for a bit.

Sorry, but no. Don't want that. I want a hulking, mass-murdering, testosterone-ridden piece of shit in my God of War, taking women for himself, drinking and pillaging his way through the game for 10 hours.

Does anyone remember the Christmas present post Verendus gave us back in December where he mentioned a game with a Central Asia/middle eastern setting but wouldn't detail the developer because it would give away the whole thing?

I wasn't a member of the board then but I've always thought that could be referring to God of War. Sony Santa Monica was making a new game in the series so if he name dropped them it would be pretty obvious what it was. It's also one of the more highly requested reboot locales for the series (although mostly India with Hindu deities, which could be controversial). They also helped on Journey and that beautiful sand tech has to go somewhere.

I think it's a strong possibility that if this title exists it could end up being GoW. That said this post of his also mentioned Suikoden and Xenosaga HD which I just don't see happening, so maybe it was bollocks (or maybe plans just changed).

Maybe they have a big reveal coming from a French team and felt like doing it on home turf would be cool.

More then likely the Paris Games Show promoters made them a deal to do their big EU presser there and Sony took them up on it. Plus giving more exposer to another large EU trade show wouldn't hurt. No reason for GC to have the monopoly on everything.

Honestly if this wasn't 18 and up and allowed kids, I would NOT go and I could only imagine how awful it would be having kids near expensive, pre-release hardware and in a convention environment full of gamers. People would get so mad.

Anyway, for the GAF meetup...

I can do ID badges. Like, GAF VIP badges. If those of you going are interested :)

That'd be fine by me since L4D 2 > HL2.

Realistically.

We're not about realistic dude, we're about megatons. B-)

But no seriously, I'm with you. I doubt we'll ever get another slew of megatons like that ever again, and if we do, it'll be at an E3 conference.
