Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

Also reminded me how lulzy RB1 songs are about overdrive

Highway Star hands out overdrive about every 10 seconds

I recently picked up Guitar Hero II for 360 from a Target bargain bin. That game was much more stingy with Star Power than Rock Band 3 is with Overdrive. Hell, you can't even accumulate additional Star Power while using Star Power, when you activate it, any Star Power notes turn into normal notes.

Anyone know if the track packs are still exportable?

Yep, and will remain so for the forseeable future, because they're just marketplace codes.

You can still get Under the Bridge and it's Pro Upgrade via the Mustang+Chili Peppers box because of that, even though the song is pulled

I really hate to be "that guy" but this is a deal breaker for me. I'm an amateur drummer in real life, and I play Rock Band as a drumming game primarily (if I'm playing solo).

I can't go back to a stock drum kit (don't even own one). It's not even worth me reading anything else about the game to get hyped. I'll stick to Rock Band 3 and upgrade when the IONs are supported. I want Rock Band 4 to be a success but it just makes zero sense for me to buy it without that support.

I don't mean this to be a complaining post, just want to voice my disappointment.

I don't have the Ion kit but got used to at least having the full cymbals from the wireless GHWT kit, it doesn't look like the stock one provided here has that. Not exactly looking like the most attractive package for drummers right now.

i'm bored today

Excited for the reveal. The tracklist is really not doing anything for me thus far.
It's not that big of a deal as I value my previous DLC as well as the opportunity to possibly import RB2 stuff, but still.. I'd like to be excited about a few more songs.

I'm sure it's been asked multiple times in this thread, but I didn't see it in the OP and 86 pages is a lot to search through.

Have Harmonix said anything about being able to buy the drum set and mic separately and how long after launch they're expecting to release them standalone. I know they did it before, and I'm sure they'll do it again, but I'll probably just buy the guitar bundle and buy the mic/drumset if I know people will be interested in playing it.

Early 2016 is the last I remember them mentioning

So just to clarify:

- Anything on the Rock Band site labeled "DLC" will work with the game
- Anything labeled "RBN" will NOT work

Will the stuff on the older game discs work? Can we import them? Will they be made available to download, or do we need the old discs?

Correct, minus the two songs that didn't work in RB3/Blitz because of licensing (as far as we know, anyway)

- Anything labeled "RBN" will NOT work

correct, currently

All disc imports will work, if you already exported them you're good to go.

With how protective Prince is of all of his work, I feel like he would be a bigger get than Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin in this game.

I imagine that the most core Rock Band audience would be more interested in Floyd or Zeppelin because Prince doesn't really have the same sort of classic rock cred.

Prince would still be a hell of a get, though.

Van Halen is such an "it's fucking Cranky Kong" moment for me, haha.

Still a good get but I was hoping for something higher up the 'big act' list (the wait for ABBA continues). ;)

I'm sure it's been asked, but with exporting RB1 and RB2, I already did that back in the 360 days and bought the licence to so it. To do it on XB1, are we able to download the songs digitally, or do we still need the disc? If so, I need to run to Gamestop.

We have no idea.

Rock Band 2 has always been a digital download, RB1 though needed the disc

I doubt you'll need the discs. You already have both purchases tracked in your purchase history.

Panama is a good choice, but there a lot of other Van Halen songs I'd rather have.

I'm hoping the self-titled is album DLC down the line.

"But Van Halen’s presence in the game won’t end there — more tracks will be available later on from Van Halen as downloadable tracks from the Rock Band Music Store"

YEAH!

Panama? Fuck yeah!

Wasn't that one of Harmonix's white whales? I thought I remember them talking back in the Guitar Hero or RB1 days about Panama being one of the reasons they wanted to make the game in the first place.

It's Panama by Van Halen, with more Van Halen coming after launch.

;)

Yeah, I heard something about some interview where they said they licensed You Really Got Me by the Kinks so they could use the Van Halen version in GH2.

Good stuff. Van Halen was sorely missing. Excited for more too!

I think it's safe to say Metallica is probably available too, legally.

Whether they're too expensive or not is another question.

Also, I feel pretty good about getting some new Maiden as well after their video-game centered video, and them doing a ton of remastering this year. I was just watching a video from earlier in the year about them digging up a ton of the old master tapes. edit: this is it if interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwsBNFso9p0

Time for The Evil That Men Do?

Speaking of which, as of today, three of my five favorite bands are on-disc in Rock Band 4 (The Who, The Cure, and Van Halen), the most of any Guitar Hero or Rock Band game so far. Iron Maiden would bump that up to four.
