Waiiiiiiiiiii!!!

I doubt she's in and they're probably just trolling... but I'd totally play her :3

I really wish she was in and I liked her KOF lite gameplay. :(

Twitter is likely just Combofiend getting a good laugh from how people respond to her. Odd that SFV twitter is calling her out , when Ono teases and hints everything.

Sounds about right, particularly with less than half of the slots for the starting roster remaining.
Though with the DLC set up the way it is, we could potentially see everyone make it in eventually. If they really want this game to last the long haul, perhaps everyone will get their wish in time.

So, there are some really interesting design differences between choosing an initial roster for a game with a fast turnaround time on "DLC" character releases as opposed to the traditional slow "New Edition" model. A few considerations that wouldn't normally be there:

I'm totally with you. I honestly don't care about the initial roster because as long as they handle DLC characters well, people will find someone they like to play.

Finally, Mecha Ingrid, Evil Ingrid and Violent Ingrid's time to shine.

What country does Ingrid hail from? I think that might be my main gripe with her. The generic magic girl design kind of grates up against the 'World Warrior' tag of old school SF for me I think that's why I don't like her design.

I guess as the series went on the design concepts widened somewhat especially with Alpha, but I still think that the core concept of the series of the worlds best fighters traveling the globe to duke it out is an important signifier for the overall series image and relatability of the series. And I don't get any of that from her design, let alone much of a personality. Other young female characters like Sakura and Karin communicate very well just through their design what they are about. Sakura with her Ryu-fan look and Karin's blonde ringlets is a clear anime trope to tell you she is upperclass/snobbish. All I get from Ingrid is 'magical girl'.

I'm cool with her playstyle, I just don't get how her design relates to the world warrior championship.

The country thing doesn't hold much water if you consider all the characters that hail from unkown places or aren't even human - Bison, the thong bros, Twelve, etc

She's essentially a boss character. If we go with tropes, she's sorta like Genkai in Yu Yu Hakusho or Grandpa Gohan in Dragonball, mystery master that enters tournament to dick around

Yeah, it irritated me that the jump from SF4 to SSF4 they dropped the fighters' respective country flags. Regardless, if V had the flags I'm sure she'd have a made up one like Akuma and Gouken did in IV. They should assign her some so-far-unused European country and give her an accent, at least.

Isn't Ingrid like a sun goddess or something?

Bison is from Thailand, right?. IIRC Gill & Urien are from "the Mediterranean" so probably Greece. Twelve was made in a lab so yeah who knows what he'd count as.

They're definitely from Greece. They're modeled after ancient greek olympians and their fighting style is part pillar man and the greek fighting pankration.

Checking the Ingrid article on wiki she strikes me as a p Mary Sue-ish character.

Hope she doesn't make it.
In a world where Akuma goes around punching nuclear subs and mountains then fights the cast suppressing his OP powers so he can get a 'fair fight' or where Gouken gets killed but then just re-appears later saying 'I got better', I'm surprised anyone is fussed about Ingrid being a 'mary sue' :P

That said, she blatantly is, but I feel like that's just because they tried to cram everything about this 'new character' into a single arcade story run leaving it feeling a bit messy and badly written. I feel with a bit more care she could be an interesting character and in spite of all that, how can I not love an ending that involved riding a giant mecha-Buddha into space? XD
As someone with a love of 'meddling' characters I feel she could easily be the 'Loki' of SF if handled correctly and seeing SFV is keen on resculpting or refining characters what better title to do it in? :3

Again though, I doubt she's in the initial 16 but I'd totally play her if she is or comes later as DLC :D

Ingrid doesn't even have a story. She's a character from a failed game shoe-horned into another crossover game and then, because they had the sprite to use, put into a single alpha 3 port on a handheld game only a few people played.

Let them write their fanfiction, bro

Thanks for reminding me of Asura's Wrath. I would love to see Asura in a fighting game and he could be a guest character in SF V.

We also need an Asura's Wrath 2 or anything close to that insanity.

I think it's more the she is super powerful for no real reason that irks me. Akuma may be ridiculously overpowered, but has been mastering that skill overtime. Same with most other street fighter characters.

I dunno.. i'd love him in a Hyper Game like Marvel, but not as a guest in SF. Keep the roster for Street Fighter characters and since they're already part of it Final Fight characters.

Same for Gene from God Hand - great character that should be playable in a fighting game, but not in SFV. There's enough characters that people want that are from SF games, they should get in.

Did notice earlier today that—for being the only other character from all of Street Fighter to make it into MvC3 that isn't Ryu, Chun, or Akuma—nobody really talks about C. Viper, especially not as a possibility/option for V.

I'm sure she's going to be in eventually. Considering how aggressive the game feels in general right now, though, I'm not sure how pressing the need for her rushdown in the initial roster is.

Because of Juri; for appearing in SFxT, PxZ/2, and having a whole lot of merchandise. :P

in other words Ingrid is the Beerus of SF

But Ingrid came out yeears before Beerus. >.>

Since SF4 was the new hot shit at the time, MvC3 wanted to represent that series and Viper was the best offering they had, at the time. If SSF4 came out earlier than 11 months before MvC3 we might have seen Juri take her place.

Sucks, because she'd fit the engine IMO. I think Capcom kind of moved on from her in SF4; nobody I know uses her. Her risk:reward is really bad unless she's literally the only character you play and all of your matches are offline.

I agree that they would be better on the Marvel vs series, but Asura actually had a SF IV crossover DLC and it worked pretty well. I would understand if he didn't get in SF V, no need to use Asura anyway, but I really wish Capcom would use him in a FG someday.
