PS Blog: lets play Until Dawn

I think "15 hours" is probably only for the "prefect" playthrough where everybody survives, in an average playthrough where half the people die, the game will probably be only 10 hours long.

Already bought. I've decided against watching anymore playthroughs of this because I feel like they do nothing but spoil my experience. I watched the Kinda Funny one which was spoilerific and another one which also had a heaping dose of spoiler so I'm on blackout. Just one more week.

how scary is the game? I've been somewhat intrigued because some stuff I read made me think it was like a choose your own adventure game essentially but I really don't like scary stuff so if it's fill with jump scares then it probably isn't for me

I loved the book How to Survive a Horror Movie by Seth Grahame-Smith which had a light-hearted humorous tone to it

Its cheesy horror so I would expect alot of jump scares.

Maybe you should watch this and see how high your tolerance is?

Playing it right now and wish I could talk about it. I'll say this, we're going to have a lot to talk about this one.

I'm going to try and not read much into this, but the overall tone of the post doesn't seem too positive lol.

Isn't this the case with every QTE/choices/cinematic games? Love it or hate it, no other way around it.

I'm really interested in the replay value witht the different paths and endings. Is there so many permutations or are these just a PR talk.

It's positive because he wants to talk about it.

I hope they add a complete list of endings in the menu (like Clock Tower) so you know how many possibilities there are with all the characters. Or is any combination of survivors possible? That would make for a lot of endings^^

Well, the game does have at least 256 unique endings assuming only the characters' survival affects the endings, the game will likely have more than double that since other things should affect the ending like the killer's survival, or the relationship status of the characters at the end of the game.

So a complete list of endings is going to murder the OCD in me.

I'm really hoping this ends up being great. My favorite aspect of Heavy Rain was the fact that characters could permanently die. It was a flawed game but that added a lot of tension to the experience. Building an entire game around that aspect is super promising.

I'm guessing this is a release day embargo? Hope that doesn't say anything about Sony's confidence in the game.

The embargo supposedly is the 24th, so the day before launch in NA.

I was thinking about waiting until my 10% off coupon from the PLAY promotion comes before buying this, but now I think this is the type of game that travels well if you're taking it to some sort of get together with a bunch of people and the host has a PS4, so I think I'll be picking the physical version up day 1 now and using the discount for something else...

Peeked a bit at that video. Graphics looks quite good. Definitely captured the actors pretty well. Also the voice acting seems really top notch.

Wow, you guys are so mean to clements. He's just doing what he was told to do.

Yeah, it's shitty. However Mr. Clements' job is partly that of a public personality-- on the Internet-- so I imagine he has incredibly thick skin. But yes, the hyperbole people use to describe something they probably only mildly don't like (whether GAF or elsewhere) has always been off-putting.

my threshold for scary stuff is Scooby-Doo :p

super OT but I babysat my nephew a few weeks back and he told me "Uncle! Let's watch a scary movie!" and I was stoked since pretty much everyone else around me is really not into that, so after dinner I told him that we could look at the trailers of a few movies and he could pick... we watched the trailer for Sinister, Insidious, Evil Dead 2, and Ghostbusters. He picked Ghostbusters and he seemed to like it well enough (as he should. That movie is fucking gold).

The next morning as I'm making breakfast he asks again if we can watch a scary movie, but that he wants to choose on Netflix... so I hand him the controller and scrolls to... episodes of Scooby Doo, Mystery Inc. Oh man did I feel bad about the night before lol
