Regal Cinemas starts checking bags ...

Then eat before you go. Do you bring food into a symphony concert?

Also, my issue is not with sneaking things in, I've done it. It's with people getting pissed about it and making a scene. You broke a rule, let it go. I worked at a theatre and it was a pain in the ass.

What symphony concerts serve snacks for consumption during the concert? And there are a ton of other places that have concession stands but either allow food or don't do bag checks for snacks. The price is usually included in the ticket or they do things like price appropriately so theres no real need to work around the rules and bring food in.

You could go to a baseball game here that allows outside food and hot dogs are 1.50 but a local theatre here (Which is a Regal) has hot dogs for 4.50 and a combo with nachos for 7.50. Of course as you can imagine why its not a popular dining option.

And IMO there should be a vending machine option for candy and bottled drinks anyway.

If that's dangerous. Welp.

Freedom isn't free right folks?

His friend most likely has ptsd, which probably isn't treated under his healthcare by the government. And if it is, he is in a queue of years to get his benefits. Americans, scared of a backpack left behind? ITs as if we finally matured and caught up to the rest of the world?

Innit?

Don't be a cunt. Someone enters a theatre 30mins into the film, leaves a backpack at a random seat next to me, leaves?

Yeah. I'm going to take that person to task.

Doesn't surprise me. The two theaters closest to me that I usually go to are Regal and I've already noticed little changes lately, like "no concealed weapon" signs on every outside doors and employees coming into the theaters more often during the movie to check on the audience. This used to happen once or twice, but the last few times I've gone it's been like 5 times. So it really seems they are trying to do more about security, and it doesn't shock me one bit to see them starting to check bags. It really doesn't bother me either.

My immediate thought wasn't even on the shootings, but sneaking in food and drinks, lol

Wasn't the shooting at the Batman film because the dude was let in through an emergency exit? I'm not familiar with what happened during the most recent one, but are they going to start doing searches everywhere for everything now? Because last I checked, there have been more shootings in malls, schools, etc... than there have theaters.

Elaborate scheme to get more people to buy overpriced theater food.

More security theater used to justify the degradation of our natural rights. We have the fifth and second amendments for a reason.

eh, that's fine I guess. Whatever helps people sleep at night, I don't bring bags to the theater anywho

Wtf how does a movie compare to a symphony concert.

If it was really about checking for weapons they would have people lift their shirts to show their waistbands as well.

If they're going to increase prices just for looking in someones bag I would really like to see pat downs and stuff included in this price hike. I want my moneys worth.

If there aren't metal detectors then they aren't going to keep out guns. You could still easily get in a handgun, and that's more than enough to kill multiple people. It's pointless, and either about the illusion of safety or to curb people bringing in outside food.

They've been bag checking at a couple of the Regal theaters near me for years. I've often questioned the effectiveness of it, but it's never bothered me. I don't bring a large purse to the theater anyway because sitting with that is annoying.

Wait you pushed this guy in the middle of the movie? What if he was you know going to the fucking bathroom?

Why not just do ocular pat downs?

Also, there's really no problem with guns. We don't have too many. The laws are if anything TOO restrictive about guns. And there's no issue with guns. We have less gun deaths per capita, fewer gun crimes, and less gun suicides and accidents than anywhere else. And there have never been mass shootings on US soil as far as I can recall. So it ain't guns. Nosiree.

Is this what passes for satire in the Stinkles household?

He dropped large backpack next to me, over 30 mins into a film, right next to me in a assigned seating showtime, and immediately ran out of the theater.

About a year removed from a bombing? Fuck that noise.

Like I said maybe he was getting his seat and hitting the bathroom. Who knows. Also did you see his ticket maybe that was his seat. Regardless the proper response is not to assault people like you're some street level superhero.

Immediately thought of this being focused towards people sneaking in food and had nothing to do with guns. I thought the Aurora shooter used an AR which wouldn't have been concealed in a bag anyway. Going to have to wear double pairs of boxer-briefs and stash my candy down there.

Or just wear a really big hat.

...what are you taking about? Your reasoning is stupid.

Live in the real world.

The real world where you assaulted some guy in a theatre because you were convinced it was a bomb?

That real world?

Like I said even if it was suspicious acting like Batman instead of reporting the situation is hardly the rational thing to do.

If you'd care to pick apart the bottom part, I'm all ears. I'm sure it's super easy to dismantle. Go ahead, I'm right here waiting to be embarrassed by statistics.

Well what does suicides by gun have to do with regal looking in your bag? I guess since it has a vague connection to the topic you want to bring it up.

Again, you sound stupid.

We had a bombing a year prior. Not sure what makes sense to you. The kid went running.

Do you really think Regal is searching your bag looking for cigarettes and sex toys? You started the argument, at least make one. Regal is searching bags because they're worried about guns, because we live in a country with far too many of them, lousy mental health care and increasingly poor education.

I'm not exactly derailing here.
