Metal Gear Solid V: Gamescom Gameplay Demo

the "cryptic or elitist" story point in that review makes me more excited honestly. Sounds like he's pulling inspiration from art film based on previous comparisons that tonally it's kind of like a David Lynch film.

The game has been compared to Lynch's work so yeah :3

Forgot an important quote.

i believe burns

as he's basically someone 98% identical in terms of game/film taste, i know i'm going to fucking love TPP even more.

Do we know how many people can be invited to your Mother Base at once? I recall this being mentioned awhile ago; that we could invite friends to our Mother Base and/or FOB to show it off.

I don't know what kind of Metal Gear Solid V thread I need right now, but this is bordering on spoiler territory and I don't think I can live here anymore. I don't think there are any others for me either.

I guess it's blackout time!

If a great chunk of the story is told via tapes, then it sucks for me. I don't really like to hear story audio when I play games.

I also love MGS's cut-scenes so I hope there are enough.

But now you'll have an in game excuse to listen to those tapes. Just path out a long drive towards your next objective and pop in the new "Paz Diary - RE: Homecoming - tape 6" and catch up on yo gossip!!

Dude... all your friends on your MB at once? like 4 or 5 people... just smoking electronic "cigars" and shooting the shit?

I would black magic murder so many living things for the chance to run around the open world in coop with my buddies.

edit: Oh god too excite double post so sorry :*(

I think the major thing people are forgetting here is that a vast majority of the story will be told in the tapes, just like in peace walker, except this time you can listen to them while playing the game, which seems pretty awesome seeing as this game has such a massive amount of gameplay.

I seriously doubt any of the reviewers scrambling trying to finish the game in time sat around listening to tapes.

Triple AAA titles need to rely on tapes now? Good lord.

He didn't understand the story. But yes he did see the ending, only the people at the review event can't see it.

Unless of course, he didn't see the secret true ending.

Heavens Divide!

Joking aside; I wonder if Kojima would actually pull this trick again. I don't think so though.

It follows the same formula of peace Walker. There is a story as told by cutscenes and then there are the tapes that give you additional backstory

It's pretty much the codec. You could get tons of optional and relevant info if you wanted to.

The more iI see of this game, the less likely it is I will buy it. Worm holes? I played GZ on my laptop and got to rescue Chico. After that, the aiming became messed up so bad on controller that I had to use the mouse instead.

I have no gaming machine other than PSone, PS2, Wii, and Wii U. I cannot afford a new PC and am torn by the idea of buying a 360 or PS3. I don't like the newer machines that much for some reason.

And OT I don't like the idea that Game Stop is selling old "piano black" PS3s because those things kept getting bricked by new firmwares that weren't properly coded for them.

I'm beginning to rescind my worries a bit. It's Kojima, the story and insanity will be there. It's just a big game so the story is going to be spread out over a much bigger slice of bread.

They replace CODECs which did a lot of the narrative heavy-lifting in past games. This time, however, you're not forced to sit there and listen to them, you can actually play while they run.

I do miss the portraits though. Plus codec calls were usually contextual so hearing these conversations play out at the appropriate locations was a plus. I can see why they would excise them in favour of tapes however.

I guiess its the fact that PS4 doesn't play PSone games. It was okay that they didn't emulate PS2 any more on PS3 because PS2 slims were going for very cheap anyway.

I have a PSN account with PS3 and PSone downloads that won't be any good on a PS4.

Oh well,,, olne more thing.....
MGS4 has Sunny in it. She's the daughter of Olga from MGS2. Is Paz perhaps a young Olga?

No,
Paz would be something like 50 around the time of MGS2.

This isn't really spoiler talk so dont' worry guys.

And don't forget about the convenience of playing tapes through the TPP app while on the shitter! You can review all pertinent information, plot twist, vaginal bomb surgery, etc... from the comfort of your own porcelain throne.

morty, i know that somewhere, deep down, you think the fulton wormhole is pretty damn badass. anywho, what kind of controller issues were you having on the PC version? I'm hoping they are resolved in TPP because i expect the mouse sensitivity scaling issues and lack of native DS4 support to be resolved. i was using DS4Windows with ground zeroes, you should check it out if you were using a DS4.

if your laptop ran GZ fine i think you should have good luck with TPP. you'd be crazy to miss this game, you seem like a metal gear fan -- or you're at least crazy enough to be one! :)

I'm beginning to rescind my worries a bit. It's Kojima, the story and insanity will be there. It's just a big game so the story is going to be spread out over a much bigger slice of bread.

But it would seem spread out to the point of being sparse.

Based on the review it seems like nothing pertinent to the plot happens
for most of the middle of the game.

So it seems like playing for several hours and not getting much in terms of story on return is a thing.

I would kill for a remastered MGS4 with more streamlined cutscenes and VR stuff. And with less ridiculous trophies. They could also get rid of the individual chapter installs. I love MGS4 just by default as a fan I guess but I believe 100% that there's a masterpiece there under all the bloat.

Yeah, this is actually making me very nervous about the whole thing.

If it's similar to PW it won't be an issue.

Just take GZ for example. You could easily follow what was going on BUT when you get all of chico's tapes you really find out what happened and who betrayed Mother Base.

It replaces to codec pretty much.

It has some kinda processor called an Accelerated Processing Unit..... it combines a 1ghz dual core CPU with a HD Radeon processor. I have no idea if this means each core is clocked at 1ghz or combined do this.

Just a cheapie $250 laptop..... "HP 15" plus a an Xbox 360 wired controler. .

EDIT: Should I mention the fact that I typically don't like "Open World" games like Skyrim or GTA whatever? LA Noire was awesome. But it had a story to tell.... I guess I like them linear..

Release it for 3ds!

Jokes aside the patch got rid of chapter installs if you full installed. But I always thought that would happen eventually, game had such good gameplay to me but you never had a chance to really use it all that time.

I don't see why people are objecting to the tapes when it's pretty much the codec except 100x more convenient?

The main story shouldn't have to rely on codecs/tapes, where should be additional information and extras should lie if you wish to seek it out or know more. I don't think it's too huge of a deal as long as the meat of the story is told through cutscenes and actual events but that's likely why some are iffy.

wow, im surprised you could run gz, thats pretty impressive for a $250 machine. have to tone down the graphics a bit?
