Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

If they can't get Alive out of RB2 licensing Purgatory, there IS a consolation prize of Alive (Live) on the RB store.

It includes bonus War Pigs at the end of the song.

edit: DAMNIT BARON VON LOATHSOME

you got...............rocked!!!!!

Damn, I want the album version though....we seriously need alive out of RB2

I'm gonna ask a question i'm note entirely sure has been answered, or can be yet, but are de-listed songs we previously purchased making the jump, or will these be lost?

We'll have more details on specific songs, but if you bought a song, we intend to make it available (whether or not it can be purchased by new customers or not).

Something happened with Alive? I never knew there was an issue. Shit, I love that song too much to see it go.

It's tied to RB2's export. The album was compatible with both RB1 and 2, so if you still had RB1 and bought you were missing Alive.

Some time after they released a 3-pack that had the live version of Alive as your way to get Alive in RB1

Pearl Jam Pack said:
Pearl Jam "Brother"
Pearl Jam "Alive (Live: Drop in the Park)"
Pearl Jam "State of Love and Trust (Live: Drop in the Park)"

Since RB2's export is now no longer officially supported, there's no way to get the studio Alive if you didn't already export RB2.

This is also why the Are You Experienced album for RB comes with Fire (Live) because Lego had the studio version.

Oh alright, I thought there was some issue with Alive independent of the export. I already exported all of the games besides Lego, which I didn't really care for.

Also, Harmonix, since you're currently here and listening: is it possible we can see a return of the no kick pedal cheat for drums? My 7 year old brother would love to play drums but I don't know if he can play with the kick pedal. Also it would be great for those of us who live upstairs.

We got you. Just a bit longer!

Any hints of price for the stand alone dongle? The dongle bundle is a $20 price hike over the game, so I am thinking maybe $30-40 for it standalone.

I am just on the fence about getting the guitar bundle or the dongle bundle. I have tons of guitars already, but all have their own little quirks. Like the one with the best strum bar and buttons has a crap tilt sensor for overdrive. But, the one with the most responsive tilt sensor doesn't up strum unless you hit it really hard. The Beatles bass works perfectly, but the longer neck on it makes it hurt my shoulder to play with after a while.

Meanwhile, the Beatles drums still work perfectly, so I don't want the full band in the box. And I already have 3 mics. I am thinking of just dongle bundle and getting a stand alone guitar later down the line when things actually die completely.

But thank you for announcing the dongle bundle today. It is good news.

I hope the 360 dongle is sold separately since i'm getting the band bundle. Then again, I did get a free guitar bundle from the rock band e3 party so maybe I don't need it... But options are nice ;)

I wonder if ion kits or even the gh2 usb peripherals will be supported?

Never thought I would see The Protomen as part of the on-disc setlist for a Rock Band game. I told a friend about it and Rock Band 4 just became a must-buy for him (along with a new-gen console).

Harmonix, I look forward to singing the harmonies on Light Up the Night and pissing off my neighbors.

Ok so I think I have this straight...
I have the Penny Arcade Guitar and the XBO Guitar Bundle pre-ordered. I have a full compliment of last gen instruments. In order to play with the "full band" I need the adapter to use my Xbox 360 drum kit with the Xbox One.

This adapter doesn't come in the guitar bundle to keep costs down so I'll need to purchase this stand-alone. The details of the stand alone dongle are TBD.

Do I have the story straight so far?

Man, kudos to HMX for all the options available, I still have no clue what I'm doing though, between going 360 to PS4 and the shape of my instruments, I really don't know where my money is best spent.

If your drum kit is wired, it won't work. Otherwise, you got it.

It's not a transfer, it's a redownload. You're actually getting new files on your Xbox One. You don't have to pay for these if you paid for them on your Xbox 360; your entitlements to that content is retained if you're using the same gamertag.
So the content would be on both the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One? And I could still play on both consoles? (obviously not the newer One content on the 360 tho)

Yep.

For this reason I'll continue to buy legacy songs via the 360 even after RB4 comes out, so that I can play keys/pro for songs that support it in 3. I'm going to assume buying legacy songs via the One will only get you the song for the One.

Now that it's been announced, I'm thinking I might get the stand alone disc at this point; my previous PS3 instruments still work, and the set list so far is not of much interest to me, so spending big money on the box is out. Worst inclusion is 4 Non Blondes, I fucking hate that song.

It's not about whether the song is good or bad, it's about how much fun it will be to have a room full of 15 people singing it.

:)

Big Props to HMX for making MANY instruments work.

I am sending all the good juju over to have the MPA for playstation family compatible sooner rather than never!

Shit. Rock Band 2, really? I thought it was just Green Day and Lego that were expired but I guess that info is outdated. What about Rock Band 3? Does that require the code from a new copy?

You should be able export Rock Band 2 yet. On the 360 at least. I realized I somehow forgot to export it a while ago and was able to use my launch copy code to get it. Looking at my purchase history, I exported it on July 28th.

Well, this is REALLY good news!

It makes the jump to Rock Band 4 less of a risk to me, as I always have the 360 to fall back on (and still have a lot of fun with). I originally thought all my old content would be restricted to a single console, and I'd have to choose between either the One or the 360.

Awesome, I don't have to change my pre-order!
I'm thinking about it though just for a new drum set. Because...reasons.

I get it, man, I'd rather have the new drumset even if my wired drums worked.

And this is why Bang Camaro is the best artist in Rock Band.

god damn it so do i

imma have to get band in a box AND the adapter for my Beatles guitar.

everyone on xbox pretty much is.....since the first generation of all the instruments were wired......I still have my usb powered hub lol

I so badly wanted my fricken xplorers to work....that was highest priority, I still have faith it will get solved in the future....somehow....not ever getting rid of those

Alas, there will never be more than three or four people total in my basement playing this game. I would probably be playing solo more than anything else. But I take your point.

Until we land on the price, I don't want to confirm anything, because stuff changes. But I'd say that it's unlikely that people who purchase digitally will have to pay more than folks who get the physical bundle and vice versa. Take that how you will. :)

Thank you. So we are expecting the dongle to release separately at the same time?

Now I'm confused.

And that god is named the GH5 guitar.
That is it. I had two World Tour guitars which both broke fairly quickly so I lost faith in those instruments, particularly when the drums were rubbish from the start. After a disappointing RB1 strat (although due to a terrible tilt sensor it did force me to select activate which I've done ever since) I bought the Band Hero bundle and was just blown away. Everything still works really well to this day. The spring in my whammy bar has gone, but that's easily solved with an elastic band.

The RB4 band kit has a lot to do if it wants to compete with that bundle. I have faith, though. If Red Octane can improve guitars between one game, then I'm sure that between three games Mad Catz can make the equivalent of the messiah in plastic guitar form. What's the deal with the cymbals, anyway? Are they still sold separately, and what's the pricing if so?

BEST inclusion is 4 Non Blondes, I fucking LOVE song and thank Nick at Harmonix for yelling at people until it made the disc.

Fixed this for you.

so far the entire setlist to me has 4 songs

Halestorm: I Miss the Misery
Dream theater: Metropolis - Part 1 - "The Miracle And The Sleeper"
Paramore: Still Into You
Disturbed: Prayer

A few others are alright background noise to me. I'm still buying the guitar bundle with no regrets though, all the DLC , some new shit to try out, and any new DLC (Pretty reckless is already a good start there)
