Rap is black music, but Eminem does it better than black artists according to 50cent

Replace "does" with "did" and maybe, MAYBE you have an argument.

I say this as someone that is a very big Eminem fan that still enjoys his recent releases.

Of course rap is black, and of course Eminem surpasses many black artists in their own genre. But all? Hardly. I have a hard time believing he meant it that way. It's all subjective.

Eminent is the best, although he will never get credit for it.

are you 13 or were you not around his first 3 albums? Em crushed everyone in sales, and can battle rap...most people can do one or the other. I find it amazing that when Drake is ghosting its not all that big, but when Em is a hot his lyrics are the shit its about what the mc can bring to the table etc etc.

50 ain't lying either some dudes are probably trying to be underground Benzino's about Em but the overwhelming response was clear...everyone loved him.

Rap is black music. It's only a point of contention for some because the debate falls under the "black people can't have shit" paradigm.

Firstly, why would you ever take 50 cent's opinion as gospel in regards to quality in rap?

And of course the roots of Hip Hop/Rap are as a result of black people and culture, though currently it would be foolish to cement it as "black music", especially considering the history of racial exclusion we black have already endured we should not be quick to draw boundaries for ourselves and others.

Eminem has done things for rap that we could never dream.

Like copying another man's flow, riding another man's coattails to fame, and letting everyone else but him put the crown on his head, because even the reviewers were saying his new stuff sounds like his old stuff, but he hasn't really come up with anything new for his art. But he's the bess.

I thought so too, but watching the video he pretty much doubles down that Eminem would 'eat anyone alive'.

So you are saying the guy who was 'discovered' by Eminem speaks highly of Eminem? Like Eminem does of Dre? Like Drake does of Wayne?

Shocked tbh

Yes, the roots of Hip Hop are in Black culture. If that's a qualifier, sure, it's 'Black Music.'

And yes, Eminem is one of the best to ever do it, definitely not better than all. It's too subjective. For 50, Em might just be the best, and he's definitely biased as Eminem played a big part in who 50 is as an artist today.

It's a Tiger Woods and Golf kinda thing. However, music is a lot more subjective than a sport. The only objective thing about music is album sales, which is not a measure of 'better' - but even then Eminem is nearly or at the top of that metric too.

It's really not that big a deal.

Eminem is the crown jewel of the Rap genre.

We may never see such a talented rapper again.

in olschool maybe, but he's no Macklemore.

Really like 50. Seems like a sincere and thoughtful chap.

dude trolled so hard it cost him 10 million dollars and made him go buy a Timex watch and a too tight, tight ass $200 suit to look horrible in.

If anything, he's too sincere, and too thoughtful. and generous to a fault. Hope no one takes advantage of him one day...

Eminem is still amongst the top, but he hasn't really released good music though in a minute. At least not something that I find myself returning to.

Eminem is the Elvis of rap music. And even he knows and acknowledges it. That's not a knock on him as a rapper, but the dude has had astronomical success because he's Elvis.

Shame that Bubba Sparxxx never succeeded. Honestly, dude was the better rapper than Shady. Deliverance>>>>anything after The Eminem Show.

Maybe in 2004.
Dude is washed up now.

He is the best. Had he been killed after the first 3 somehow he would get more respect and praise like biggie and pac. Michael Jackson wasn't the same
His last few albums, doesn't take away from what he did as the best pop start of all time.

Kendrick dropped possibly the best rap album of the decade this year and it was soaked in the history of black music. I don't think Eminem has ever released something as ambitious or enjoyable (subjective, I know) as TPAB.

From a technical ability I may see Em being considered a contender for best. But for impact of lyrics on an emotional or personal level for the greatest amount of people? Not so much.

lmao, what do you mean "somehow"?

Lol, this is a good point. It's like twerking as a black woman for years only to hear some white girl named Miley invented it.

Eminem has been making shit music for a while.

And no such thing as best when it comes to music.

Future is in an entirely different lane than Kendrick Lamar, but you cant take away from dudes magical talent.

The closest thing to that caliber is The Eminem Show to be honest. It touched on every subject and gave closer to his family/wife issues.

Always reminds me of what Chris Rock said:
Chris Rock said:
“You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named "Bush", "Dick", and "Colin." Need I say more?”
