One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 |OT| Feel The Pain Of Koei and Namco Bandai's Victory

Fuck it, I'm in. Last day to preorder, apparently. No doubt it will be considerably cheaper later, but I want the metal case.

Dressrosa has a ton of characters that would be amazing for Musou.
Bartolomeo
Cavendish (with Hakuba super attack)
Kyros (would be weird to play as a one legged swordsman)
Diamante (his Flutter Flutter powers have a ton of possibilities
Pica
Trebol
Baby 5 (she's literally weapons)

There's defintely others, but that's off the top of my head.

Maybe in the fifth game, we'll see
Kaido
.

How is the character upgrading in this one? Is it still the coin stuff? If it is, did they make it any better?

It's coins, but they revamped the system a bit. Instead of setting specific coin combos to get maximum stat-ups, it's a more standard "use x coins of y kind to upgrade this stat", with each stat needing various kinds of coins. So let's say, random example, to upgrade Luffy's attack stat a 3rd time (i believe regular stats cap at 5 or 6 upgrades), you need to use 3 Crocodile coins and 15 Marine Coins. In this case, Marine coins refers to a generic category of characters which you can combine any amount to fill up the upgrade. So you could use 15 Smoker coins as well as you use 2 Coby Coins, 8 Kizaru Coins and 5 Garp coins.

Also there's no longer 3 tiers of coins wherein Gold is worth the most and making previous the bronze and silver variants worthless. Instead, you have the aforementioned Bronze "currency" coins which deplete as they are used, and Gold Coins which act as permanent keys to unlock major upgrades. Things like Story-based moveset unlocks, for instance, work by requiring a Gold Coin that you obtain by clearing that characters special side-mission during certain stages (e.g. unlock Sanji's Diable Jambe with the Sanji Gold Coin obtained by playing the Enies Lobby stage as Sanji and defeating Jyabura.)

I'm still sad this game doesn't have Bart with Lana from Hyrule Warriors's moveset.

I'm now imagining Barto moving like a jpop idol.

Watching the Episode of Sabo (I like it! Seeing Dressrosa thru his eyes) and getting hyped for the release.

Too bad we only get it here in Singapore on the 28th.

Woo, I can't wait til tomorrow! Pretty damn excited.

I know for sure they probably still have the same lame limitations with online co-op though. Bleh.

Made a push to beat Yakuza 4 last night, so now I'm free to play this once it unlocks for me, which looks to be 9pm tonight.

Only other Museo game I beat was Hyrule Warriors, so I hope One Piece can live up to that.

Dressrosa introduced so many awesome characters in general. I'd love to see Cavendish, Bartolomeo, Baby 5 and Koala all be playable.

Bart is really popular right now (he was 9th place in the most recent popularity poll for the manga) so I could easily see him getting in next game. Especially since I suspect he's going to stick around for another arc after dress rosa (not joining the crew though)

I've mentioned this a long time ago but Calgara would be amazing in a musou. That guy is underrated as hell. Fighting with a spear and a ball and chain.

Hot damn, excellent work on the OP!

Looking forward to it's release this Friday on Steam, please be the PS4 version ported over.

My first One Piece game for sure but not now, too much good games to get right now, hope it will be good though.

As long as you are a One Piece fan, there should be more than enough to satisfy you.

Heck, I really enjoyed One Piece Pirate Warriors 2, even having to go all the way to buy a Chinese version just to play it on the Vita with a lowered enemy count, but it's still amazing. Especially Aokiji's inclusion as a playable character.

Looking forward to getting that 60fps feeling with the PS4 version. Combination attacks e.g Gomu Gomu no 300 pound cannon seems like it will catch my fancy real fast.

Q: Which version should I buy?
A: All evidence points to the PS4 version being the best, PC version seems to be a port of the PS4 version, with online removed.
Is this confirmed? I thought the rumor was that it's going to be a PS3 port because of the low system requirements and their history with other DW games on steam.

I expect the answer to this question will be a resounding no, but while I know that the game has online and offline co-op, is it possible for cross-platform online play?

I doubt it, since the PC version probably doesn't have online and the Vita version has fewer enemies on screen and lower score requirements.

I'm in NA but on Steam it says it releases on the 28th. Is the PC release date different than the console release date, or is that just Steam being weird?

Cross-posting from the announcement thread
You're right. Asked the question on the Playstation Blog and got a response. It's nice it has online co-op ... but it's a bummer that the PS3, PS4, and PSV don't share the same online community.

Preordered and I assume preloading for PS4. I'm ready.

Right, so I got an interview with Bandai Namco in a few days over this game and I will be happy to pass along any questions if I am able to.

damn, i can pick this up right now if i want...

but theres too many damn games coming out and with this being on steam, i can just keep it at #1 on my wishlist and hope my friends decide to grab it for me for my birthday, but that's two weeks away. besides, we don't know yet if the steam version is going to be good or crap

Is a good game to play it on Vita? Cause i see a lot of elements and characters on-screen for a 5 inch screen.

How's the framerate also?

The amount of enemies on screen is pretty crazy at times, even though the framerate takes a dip.

Love playing as Zoro <3

I wonder which character will end up being the best/overpowered, especially for S ranks.

Something important to note regarding character balance is that this game favors support characters way more as a tool for mowing down the hordes. The ability for your assist to come out at the end of every single combo, as well as kizuna rush replacing style action from pw2, makes your character's individual strength slightly less significant for S ranking. Notably, one of the 3 stats you're graded on is the number exclamation marks racked up. Rather than being a combo counter for consecutive kos without being knocked off your feet, in pw3 exclamation marks are obtained one of 3 ways

1. KOs from your support
2. KOs during kizuna rush (from you or your supports)
3. KOs from kizuna super (team super)

Obviously the strongest characters are the ones who can fill the kizuna gauge most easily. But the biggest caveat is that you can no longer decide who to take as support in pw3. In story missions, your support team is basically predetermined. In dream log, a lot of battle conditions are randomized per stage, including who's in your army and who is available as support. Random events can happen where two or more characters appear onto the battlefield and fight each other. Depending on who gets defeated, one of them joins your support team for that mission only.

The inability to slect your support team and the removal of character intros/victory cutscenes are probably my biggest gripes with this game. Oh and also i guess some of the arcs covered in pw1 are less developed here. Even if it was a load of malarkey, transporting Nami to the castle on drum island was pretty cool

Can't wait. I started getting into the One Piece anime last year and am already up to episode 344 (Haunted Mansion/Brooke's story). Didn't get heavy into it until the Water 7 arc. Then I watched 4-5 episodes a day. I subscribed to the Funimation network just for the One Piece dubs. So when I saw in the trailer that it covers the main stories right from the beginning, I knew I had to pick this one up (Although I may need to stop at some point just so I don't get too many spoilers).

Power of Asspull. I mean cmon Shanks has been in One Piece fighters since Grand Battle on the PS1 which didn't even extend to the Grand Line in terms of story yet iirc.

He's literally been playable in One Piece games since the PS1 bro.

Will be buying this on PC. My most anticipated game
Oh damn, forgot about the Grand Battle series. It's weird since he hasn't shown off anything to go off from in the manga.

My copy shipped this morning, I should receive it tomorrow. I can't wait.

I'm not getting MGSV [I know, I'm probably one of the handful here passing on it] but I am grabbing Super Mario Maker when it's released. I have plenty of time to focus on PW3, though.

Again: he's popular. Imo it's not weird at all that they make non-canon movesets for a very popular character, although it is worth mentioning that most moves in the PW series are actually canon.

Speaking of Shanks and nothing to base him off of. To all who get around to unlocking him. Try taunting twice and see what happens ;)

Any way to find out how many "!", KOs and time you need for S ranks? Sucks when I lose an overall S rank because one of the three requirements is A instead of S, especially if I don't know how much more I need.

Assuming it still plays like the others? Despite OP being one of my favorite shows ever, I just can't get into this series. The only one I've been able to put tons of hours into is Hyrule Warriors -_-. I would love if it I could play an OP game as much as I did HW.

In dream log the S Rank requirements are:

2400 KO
1200!
Less than 15min I believe.

Story Mode however differs between stages some require less while others require a lot more. Try go above the Dream log S rank requirements (excluding mission time as some story missions can be long) in every mission
