One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 |OT| Feel The Pain Of Koei and Namco Bandai's Victory

As someone whose never played a One Piece game but likes the DW and other Musou games how is this? Is it arena based or big maps like DW? Why is it better? I like the Musou games for their gameplay. I always skip the story as I find it dull but love getting more powerful and upgrading. Also I have the first two One Pice ga,es off PSN sales would they be worth playing before this or just skip them and move to this? There's also Unlimted Red but dunno what that is? I have no interest in watching the anime but this game looks insane from the gameplay trailer and seems right up my alley.

You can play a little of OP:PW2 to get an idea of what the gameplay in this one is like (skip 1, it's trash and 2 was a gigant upgrade in quality). From what I hear, the gameplay is similar to 2 w/ the biggest difference being the Kizuna features replacing the partner system and the, obviously, expanded roster. If I'm wrong here, someone who's played both games please correct me.

If you have played and enjoyed Hyrule Warriors, then this should be right up your alley for sure.

They know there's some crazy shit about to happen in the manga and they're waiting for all the new characters they're going to have to make playable.
 
Just began playing One Piece Pirate Warrirors 2 after all the pushing folks gave it.
Let it be known I do not read nor watch One Piece...it never clicked for me when it first came out. Something about the art...


That bias against it being said this is probably one of the best musou titles I've ever played and I've played since Dynasty 3, and yes I bought into Samurai Warriors, Sengoku Basara, Battride War, Gundam Musou, Warriors Orochi titles, and Hyrule Warriors.


Its just that good. Everything I praised in Hyrule Warriors seems to be in this series plus less of the stuff I didn't like seems to be in it. The Bingo skill slotting is fun, the coin slotting is fun, the support characters are fun, the movesets and stages are REALLY fun, and its just an overall blast.

Dash cancels, beli growth (basically growth points) , multiple enemy types, style rushing with tons of moves...its just damned good.

I don't really like this, you could tell from pirate warriors 2 gallery that they made a lot of moves for the NPC's that still didn't make it into 3. Wapol is the big one here, he actually has different effects and attacks for each of his forms after eating something, and he's literally only in one stage in 2! I'm not asking for a full on fledged 4 but maybe a 3.5, or DLC.

They probably don't want series fatigue in general. You can only send people to the same arcs so many times. I bet when they do come back, we'll see a lot more Dream stuff rather than the same old arcs over and over.

(Not that it's currently boring or anything, but you know.)
 
I stopped reading the manga when the time-skip happened.
Will I be able to play everything from before the time skip with this game?
Also, is this a decent way to get into the time skip stuff?

This is the retelling of everything from romance era to dressrosa.

Decent way is to read everything since all the arcs are connected, the first one is hated by a lot but I like the backstory to it which is the most important thing that has happened in new world IMO
 
My copy gets here tomorrow, this'll be my second Musou title and I'm pretty hyped. But here's a side question....how is there no Naruto musou title? That seems like money being left on the table.

Now that the war is over they could indeed make one, but in general Naruto is WAY more 1vs1 focused than One Piece.

Even in earlier One Piece we had fights where the strawhats were severely outnumbered, but since Water 7/Enies Lobby One Piece basically became Musou: The manga. Seriously, Enies Lobby is an 1:1 Musou mission. You have Luffy beating up over thousand Marine soldiers, smaller battles all over the island and a team of antagonists that act as enemy generals while the mugiwaras are Luffy's generals.

Then we get War of the Best, mugiwaras vs 100.000 Fishmen and Dressrosa in terms of extremely large scale battles.
 
Im so stoked to pick this up tomorrow. I cant get enough One Piece. I just caught up with the anime on crunchyroll :'(. So no more binge watching for me. Then bam this comes out. Perfect timing!

Did the first 3 chapters so far it's a lot of fun. It runs silky smooth, and tons of enemies on screen hit over 2.5k enemies on opening stage alone. Didn't notice any frame drops! And Kizuna Rush system is really cool.
 
Nice OT.

Probably one of my most anticipated games of the year (and that's saying something in 2015), PW2 still remains my favourite musou game, even if Hyrule Warriors came close. Should get the PS4 version next Tuesday.
 
How many missions are in this in general? I am playing Samurai Warriors 4 (on vita, what a friggin port!) and it has a pretty stupid amount of content. Is this similar?
 
So if I start this game having never played the others will I miss out? I own the other two games but judging by everyone here PW1 sucks and I should just avoid it and start on this or no.2?

I am definately getting this thoigh. It looks really fun!

Pirate Warriors 2 is like a dream story (non-canon), where as I follow on what others say, PW3 follows the original story-line up to the Dressrosa arc, which then gets it's own original story-line apart from the show.

PW2 is for sure the better game than the first one. (Ugh @ forced platforming weirdness) so if you want to start with a off beat story (I've sorta forgot about it tbh), jump on there. Otherwise PW3 is the likely way to go.
 
I wish they gave some love to the older villains...I still wanna play as Captain Kuro.
 
i really wish we could find out about the PC version. I would just go and buy the game today on PS4 if the PC version isn't up to scratch, but I'd rather get it on PC if that version is good

well it probably is just a ps3 port,given the minimum requirement of a geforce 8800 and the suggested one being a GTX570
 
Stupid ebgames. Didn't get the pre-order metal case. And as usual they have no idea why not. They say they will "request" for more but not expecting they will get it. I will just return it.

I ordered online to get the case, and if it doesn't arrive today with it I'm going to be pretty upset and return it, considering it cost about $15 more than BB GCU.
 
gonna be my first one piece game. So excited :D LOOOOOVE One Piece

as there wont be a new Pirate Warrior next year they could have released new story missions as DLC :/

I'll will be royaly pissed if I don't get my steelbook especially when I could have gotten this game for $15 less.

I walked out of gamestop last night and noticed while driving away that I didn't have a Steel book case, turns out it was separate and they forgot it was the pre order bonus..i called and went back in, thankfully I was one of the first to get mine so hopefully others got their own with no problems!
