MGSV:TPP LAUNCH TRAILER

Well, that's a twist/reveal spoiled.

Metal Gear Rex was built in the 1980's, so it was TWENTY years after the Russian designer gave Big Boss them in the 1960's/Snake Eater and not FOURTY after for Metal Gear Solid.

Ah, they named it SOMETHING not that. But it still looks extremely close to that.

This.

How would anyone developing a new Metal Gear model after the ST-84 create this as the next logical evolution of the machine:

Also strange is that Big Boss is the one that oversees the production of the Metal Gear TX-55. Wouldn't he want it to be more advanced that the ST-84?!?
Big Boss' soldiers were whining about the ST-84 being "too anime" so he told his researchers to dial it down

I feel like something happened in the 70's that clearly set us back a few decades in tech, kind of like losing the library of Alexandria. The Patriots definitely did a good job slowing evolution apparently. :D

I don't think the 2:50 spoiler is literal. I can't imagine him spoiling that in a trailer randomly after wanting to have less spoilers.

Outside of story oddities, technology is the most inconsistent aspect of the saga. With Peace Walker and this it's clear Kojima and co don't really give a fuck and just throw in whatever they think is cool or serves a fun gameplay purpose. You really just have to accept it.

It cant'? Who said the SF part was actually happening at that exact time. And what's with the flashing light as the badges are falling down, could that not be an indication of the game "going back to real-time/reality" type situation.
One of the badges Skull Face drops lands behind Big Boss's pouch. The camera shows the badge falling out of the sky and landing there when you roll around on the ground a lot.

Wow.. people screaming spoiler on the transition of Big Boss to skull face is just sad, you guys definitely didn't played GZ or watched any MGS5 trailers.

What a trailer, dat nostalgia....this is the end.

About the Skullface thing,
It's a metaphorical thing rather than literal as in BB has became as low as Skullface/no better than Skullface.

SkullFace has TWO EYES, come on people!

Also what a beautiful trailer, and it has fully restored my hype like a calorie-mate.
goddamn transforming metal gear with a sword!

In one of the trailers that line is followed directly with "FOX vs. XOF". Also, Solid and Liquid were made by Cipher, not FOX.

The two phantoms are (evil) Big Boss and Skull Face.

FOX,Cipher, Major Tom, Major Zero are all the same just different names. Zero is Cipher, he cloned Big boss.

We have this super high tech radar system that can tell you even where people are looking!

Let's not use it anymore, instead let's do this weird ground vibration thing.

Yeah. Personally I like this decision since I'd rather fight a new advanced Metal Gear than crush something inferior to a TX-88 gameplay wise. He wanted to keep pushing the envelope with mech boss fights.

Isn't Venom Snake just an alias though? I'm confused with that one.

There is a fan conspiracy going around the last few months.. hell years... that you play as some previously unknown Snake. Metal Gear fans gonna do their thing

Reminds me of the old fan theories that MGS3 would actually just be a VR mission from Solid Snakes perspective.

Not sure why I am spoiler tagging

Welp, I had to bail the hell out after the mid-credits, but holy shit, please tell me someone has Quiet's Theme in MP3 form already. I need that.

Well, to me the MGS series has been an over the top comicbook/anime story about 'militairy heroes' with an 80's action movie framing & styling, and some (older) James Bond oddness (regarding naming conventions). The whole series became a platform for Kojima to tell stories about 'big concepts', making stuff even more convuluted (with varying results). I love the series but it's about as realistic as the previously mentioned James Bond series.

WARNING!!!!, There's a SPOILER. What I suspected happened, but it definitely looks to be a spoiler @ 2:50ish. Something that hasn't been shown in previous trailers.

Seriously, don't watch if you don't want any spoilers. The video may trick you into thinking that he's just reusing footage from the older games, and from this game that they've released before. But they definitely haven't released that and it seems like it could be a major plotpoint.

Thank you sir.

Maybe Big Boss ran out of money. You can only make a huge military fortress so many times before you become strapped for cash.

But yeah, it is the typical prequel problem where stuff from an era before the original stories should be less advanced, yet you also have to go beyond audience expectations and show them something even better than before. It's like how all the prequel ships in Star Wars look so sleek and detailed, but they are hunks of junk in the OT.

God damn, the first half of this trailer really got to me. This franchise has meant so much to me for so long. I can't believe it's actually coming to an end.

For me, that metal gear doesn't even exists. The ground spikes when it bashes it's sword to the ground... We've seen that before, from a scene of obvious hallucination in previous trailers when he's running away from it using a car. Also, skullface thing is metaphorical. There's no spoilers in this trailer, I believe.

It was an unnamed Japanese Woman who provided the Embryos to give birth to Solid and Liquid. Eva is the one who carried them to full term.

Really? My bad then, I missed that.

I'd like to go read more from the wiki as I don't remember everything in full detail, but I'm afraid of stumbling on some major spoilers there.

Literally saw nothing I would consider a spoiler in the trailer. Mostly nostalgia bombs and then an extended bit of a scene we had already seen in trailers before.
Hype Af trailer tho

Man, anyone else get really excited about this being an announcement of the LE ps4 in the US before remembering it was a euro trailer and being disappointed? :(

Well the post credit scene is from TPP, but you will need context for it to be a full spoiler. Though the footage itself is minor spoiler for some
