MGSV:TPP LAUNCH TRAILER

Eh, not really a good trailer.

dude really needs to learn how to edit lol. if he cut it right after the skullface it would have been great.

but excessive kojima ruins his own trailers with an added 2 minutes (ditto for the god tier E3 one this year). I just exited the tab right when the title popped up so it's still good to me.

videogame peter jackson up in here.

What a fucking stupid trailer. Good to know who directed and edited the trailer up front though, that question would've been on my mind for weeks otherwise.

We live in a world where people admonish Michael Bay and praise Hideo Kojima. Which is funny.

As is only right.

Y'know what, I think people are seriously misinterpreting the Skull Face part of the trailer - And that's exactly what Kojima intended.

I mean... It looks LIKE Skull Face - But
some of the facial characteristics in that shot look a bit different from Skull Face. Take that as you will - Though it is questionable since there's no eyepatch on that "Skull Face", whereas, ahem, Burnt Boss is still wearing an eyepatch.

Now - What gets me is though... Back to the reveal trailer for MGSV. The first-person hospital scene where Kaz points to the camera and asks "What about him?!"

That is what I am talki about, like perhaps in this game,
you aren't playing as big boss at all
.

I didn't have hype before. Now? Must buy.

That's not what I was saying at all, what I was thinking is
Big Boss gets burnt and ends up looking like Skull Face from facial-deformation... Well, I mean, the trailer does basically spell it out anyway.

My hype levels would have been raised to the max if he had also recreated the other Snakes using the fox engine.

IDK, I'd think some call backs to the first two games would be more relevant - Unless of course Burnt Boss is
MG2 Big Boss.

Skullface
comes after
burnt/Outer Heaven emblem head Big Boss
. So it's a little strange. If it's some sort of chronology, he should be a half dead burnt corpse in Eva's shed and then restored Big Boss in MGS4.

Not sure why we need to spoiler tag when we're all just theorizing, but whatever.

So,how spoilery is the trailer?
So fucking tempted to watch it,i won´t resist until the release day.

No plot details you wouldn't already figure out from the other trailers. Anything deeper is just speculation.

Main meat of the trailer is a full-cut of a cutscene that's already been partially shown already.

But the corpse Eva had was
Solidus'

the series have been pretty obsessed about recreating that perfect soldier, like trying to revive The Boss via AI, cloning Big Boss for Solid and Liquid, also Genome Soldier, there's also that plan to shape Raiden into the next perfect soldier with Solid Snake Simulation (although it turns out to be a ruse)

I wouldn't be surprised if we actually play a random guy that got experimented with hypnotherapy or whatever early version Ocelot is doing in MGS4 to make him think that he's Big Boss.

Uhhhh.. What does "V has come to" mean?

Why does kojima keep putting that in his videos? Is this just one of those "Engrish" things?

You're not wrong at all but HD models of Solid/Liquid/Solidus would have been godlike though.

I take it as "Venom (Big Boss) has finally come to, AKA out of his coma."

fuck it,i watched it.
For someone who has been a MGS fan since the first game for ps1,the first half of this trailer made me cry, damn feels.
The end of an era indeed, thank you Kojima..thank you so much for the memories.

Oh god this trailer, my heart! It's hitting harder than I thought, the first half of trailer encompassed a huge part of my gaming love and years. It's genuine heart heartache from me.

It's an end of era of the greatest gaming series ever, and after so many long years from my youth to adulthood....I have to say goodbye...

i feel ya bro,i broke down in tears too.
Thank god i didn´t watch this trailer at work,i would´ve caused quite a scene in there.
The song is so fucking powerful and full of meaning too.

I'm sort of jealous of people who started the series when MGS1 actually came out. My first MGS was Portable Ops and I didn't play the mainline series until the Legacy Collection came out, so like two years ago. To have gone through all those years anticipating each release and experiencing the games as they came out must have been awesome.

I really love the series, but I definitely feel left out of the long term metal gear fan circle. I can see how the launch trailer would make you cry (although I'll admit I got a little emotional in the intro).

Man you're a brother just like the rest of us. I'm tearing up right now. When I first played this series with MGS1 when it first came out. It changed my life. I hope that makes sense.

This series has been a huge part of my life. Waiting for MGS2, MGS3 hell even MGS4 and all the craziness.

Seeing Big Boss walk down that hall and go from MGS3 Naked Snake to Venom Snake just hit. I've been invested in this series for years and when I get TPP and beat it it'll be finally time to say goodbye.

As Kaz said in GZ.

You might be able to erase the markings, but the memories will never disappear

Relevant?

They have Snake repeat things that were just said to him as a question so that characters can reiterate what they just said and explain it further, even if the implication is obvious. Subtlety doesn't exist in the games. It's like people reacting to Skull Face in the trailer...they see something that's just a bit subtle an instead of thinking about it, they freak out. "Snake turned into Skull Face? Snake IS Skull Face!"

I can imagine if this happened in game Otacon would have to explain to Snake.
Otacon: "Snake, don't take it at face value! It's symbolism!
Snake: "...symbolism?"
Otacon: "Yes. Symbolism is when something is shown as one thing but meant to convey the idea of another related thing."
Snake: "Oh, I see..."
